Are you looking for a haven of tranquillity and charm for your holidays with family or friends? 200 km from Paris (and 12 minutes from exit 21 of the A6), Coutarnoux is a quiet (non-crossing) and authentic Burgundy village, with its listed houses. Opposite the church, the Clos d'Arnoux is an old 18th century farmhouse converted into a comfortable double gîte, with the pleasure of many bathrooms, a beautiful secure swimming pool and a large enclosed and wooded garden. It offers from 2 to 8 bedrooms depending on your needs, and can accommodate up to 20 people, in two houses communicating by the courtyard and the garden.

At the end of the enclosed courtyard where you can park is the "blue house", like its shutters: a kitchen-dining room area dominates the courtyard by a few steps, and opens onto a pretty tiled terrace on the garden side. A bathroom with shower and toilet completes this garden level, as well as a cosy living room (with wood stove) on the mezzanine floor. Upstairs (rather steep staircase) are a master bedroom (queen size bed that can be separated into two + a single bed) with direct access to the garden, a shower room with WC and, via a narrower access that will delight children, an attic bedroom with two single beds. On the ground floor is a third independent bedroom, on the courtyard side, consisting of a queen size bed and a single bed, and its shower room with WC.

The "old house" is also accessible from the courtyard, in the middle: on the ground floor there is a kitchen (in the centre), and on the one hand a dining room with fireplace, on the other hand an old barn converted into an impressive living room (9.20 m high). In this large living room there is a staircase and a mezzanine corridor leading to a bedroom (two single beds + shower and WC). From the kitchen there is a staircase leading to a shower room with WC, a small bedroom (1 single bed) and a large attic bedroom with exposed stonework (a queen size bed and 2 single beds or 4 single beds), which has its own access to the garden via an external staircase. From the dining room, a corridor on the ground floor leads to a bedroom overlooking the courtyard (former stable) with double bed, and a bathroom with shower, bath and WC. From this corridor goes up a staircase that leads to another bedroom (with 3 single beds, two of which can be attached to a queen size bed), with pretty views of the church.
The "old house" has its own terrace, surrounded by old stones and rose bushes.

The vast garden (more than 2600 m2), enclosed by old dry stone walls and with an unobstructed view of the countryside, borders the two houses. There are several species of fruit trees, and, revealing behind a discreet hedge, a heated swimming pool (9m x 4m), accessible from May to September, and secured by a locked fence.

In the courtyard, the barn that separates the two cottages has been transformed into a games room, with a ping-pong table, a table football, sofas... On the other hand, a grassy communal field adjoins the cottages, with a football goal, as well as a bowling alley. In the village there is also a playground for young children.

Pretty walks on rural paths are within walking distance of the house. Cycling tours are of course possible – and a dozen bicycles are at your disposal in the barn. Note that less than 3 km from the cottage, an old quarry has been transformed into an adventure park and offers activities for young and old: www.aventure-en-bourgogne.com, or the possibility of being privatized to have a meal and a night party (and sound) with friends – which we forbid at home, to respect the tranquility of the village. Finally, the nearby forest (less than 3 km away) offers various marked circuits in the shade and quiet, as well as a botanical discovery trail.

Shops and services (mini-market, bakery, tobacconist, restaurant, pharmacy, medical centre, etc.) are in Isle-sur-Serein, a pretty town 4 km away. For more supplies, we prefer Avallon*, an old fortified town and gateway to the Morvan, 14 km away. There are also: 20 km away the valley of the Cure and the large cave** of Arcy; 27 km away, the extraordinary site and basilica of Vézelay***.
