Lake Rescue Chalet–Big, Cozy Ski & Lake House Near Okemo and Killington
- english, french, spanish
We're a family of four who love the mountains and the outdoors. We lived in New York for two decades before relocating to Colorado, and we are now retired and traveling the world, while spending summers in Vermont. We get back to Vermont as often as we can! Our youngest daughter starts at Champlain College in Burlington in fall 2019.
Lisa purchased this Chalet in 2000
Why Lisa chose Ludlow
We love Lake Rescue Chalet because of its access to Okemo Ski Resort in winter -- just five minutes down the road -- and to Lake Rescue in summer for swimming, boating and fishing. We like its homey, woodsy feel, and the flat yard for volleyball and other fun activities. We love to sit around the fire pit toasting marshmallows at the end of the day.
What makes this Chalet unique
We love that the lake is just a two-minute walk, so we never had to worry about the kids stepping outside and drowning when we weren't looking. We added two huge decks in the front and the back so that we could truly live outdoors. The hot tub feels like a wonderful luxury. We also love the two living areas so that we can send the kids downstairs to watch their movies while the adults hang upstairs sometimes.

Great place for multiple families
Thanks for staying with us!
Christmas Ski Trip
We were three families, 6 adults, 6 kids and had a great time! House was perfect from a bedroom accommodation perspective and having two full kitchens allowed the older girls to bake cookies while the adults prepared dinner at the same time!
The gas fireplaces made it cozy and convenient to have a warm fire each night while playing some of the many games available in the house.
We had one issue with the upstairs stove and a light out that the super friendly and very responsive property manager Keith fixed in short order. Thanks Keith!
Overall a wonderful holiday ski week! We hope to return next year!
Thanks for staying with us! We did have the upstairs stove break while you were there, and replaced it immediately with a nicer stainless steel one, so now it's new. We hope we will see you again!
Very spacious, clean, exactly as described and easy to communicate with owner
Amazing location for Endurance Athletes & Vacationers
We rented the Lake House Chalet as a homebase for our week long stay filled with swim, bike, run, and relaxation plans. The house met all of our large groups needs from plenty of sleeping space, 2 kitchens, 2 baths, easy lake access, challenging terrain for all of outdoor activities. WiFi access was great due to limited cell services. If looking to swim out of the house’s dock be prepared for a shallow & murky entry but the neighbors were very friendly allowing us to launch from their dock. Buttermilk Falls and the Maple Creemee stand we’re an added bonus within a very short drive from the house. If there has to be one down side to the house the mattresses were very thin. Overall the location is great and would recommend this to a large group looking for a place to stay through all seasons.
Lake Rescue Chalet
The noisy dehumidifier took two days of constant running to make the the musty moldy downstairs acceptable.
Putrid smell from outside frequently lofted into the bedrooms and onto the porch; suspect it was sewerage.
There were no sheets and pillow cases for the sofa beds.
Lake access was unmarked and very difficult to find.
Lake access was not swim-able; there was too much muck and it was too shallow.
Wi-fi and Internet was great.
Two kitchens with two refrigerators came in handy for our large group.
Main room high ceilings looked great.
Plenty of towels.
Lake was beautiful, great for kayaking and swimming (away from the lake access).
The bed in our room was very uncomfortable (upstairs room on left)
The pots and pans were tough to cook with
The sliding screen doors didn’t slide very well
The musty smell downstairs
The deck railings were wobbly
Love the house!
No swimming was an issue
The beds were uncomfortable.
Only one set of pots and pans for two kitchens. The pots were all nonstick with the coating scratched on all of them. Not really usable.
The blender does not work.
There should be fans for all the rooms since there is not much ventilation in the house and it gets hot. Fans available were very dirty.
The downstairs was very smelly with mildew and mold when we arrived. It took a couple of days using the dehumidifier in the living room to remove the smell. We were not able to use the downstairs living room because of the smell.
There were no sheets for the pull out sofa beds.
The sewer smell was very noticeable on the left side of the house and the smell came in the windows and when you were on the deck. It was disgusting.
The sliding door to the deck in the front of the house is broken, hard to open and close, broken screen and fell off many times.
The living room couches are uncomfortable.
The beach is not swimmable.
The kayaks are missing one set of paddles.
We enjoyed using the kayaks on the lake. The lake was nice and quiet.
It was nice to to have two large tables inside and one large table on the deck. There were also a good number of chairs for the deck.
The wifi was great. and it was nice to have so many options for TV viewing.
The sheets and towels were clean and comfortable.
The house was clean when we arrived.
The decks were large and comfortable to hang out.

I agree w
The house is located on a peninsula with about ten houses. The dock is across the street and past two houses.
