About this property

Waterfront Farmhouse Retreat w/ Hot Tub & Fire Pit

Tucked along the banks of the Cohansey River, The Foxtail is a design-forward waterfront retreat set at the end of a long private lane.

Recently refreshed throughout, the home blends its 1860s character with thoughtful modern updates, including a brand new kitchen, all new operable windows with screens, updated baths, and custom window treatments throughout. The result is a peaceful, comfortable river house that feels considered without feeling precious.

THE SPACE
After a drive down a long private lane, you’ll arrive beneath a canopy of trees. Enter through the rear of the home into a light-filled kitchen designed for real cooking, with Fisher & Paykel appliances, leathered granite countertops, quality cookware, bakeware, grilling tools, cutting boards, and a drip coffee maker.

The home has four bedrooms, three full bathrooms, generous gathering spaces, and river views from many of the main rooms. New operable windows with screens allow you to enjoy the breeze off the river, and custom shades throughout the home offer privacy and light control when you want it.

On the first floor, you'll find:

• A king bedroom with easy access for those who prefer to avoid stairs
• A full bathroom
• A laundry room with detergent and extra towels
• A dining room with seating for eight and uninterrupted river views
• A cozy family room with a TV and games including Catan and Cards Against Humanity

Upstairs, you'll find:

• Three more bedrooms, including two queens and one king
• Two full bathrooms, including one with a bathtub

The front porch is a favorite spot for coffee in the morning, a book in the afternoon, or a drink at the end of the day. Walk the property, lie in the hammock, sit on the dock with your feet in the water, or soak in the outdoor spa. At night, light up the fire pit and stay out longer than planned.

GUEST ACCESS
Guests have full access to the home and grounds, excluding any locked storage spaces such as the basement and upstairs hallway closet. Please remain within our property lines and be respectful of neighboring land.

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE
Internet Access
The Foxtail is equipped with Starlink, which is the best available option for our rural riverside location. Most of the time, it performs beautifully for streaming, video calls, and everyday browsing. On rare occasions, weather or satellite shifts can cause brief drops in service, so we recommend downloading anything essential in advance and planning accordingly.

Hot Tub
Hot tub use is included for reservations made more than two weeks in advance. For reservations made within two weeks of check-in, hot tub use must be confirmed in advance and includes a $200 fee. The hot tub is professionally cleaned every Monday.

Pets
We welcome house-trained, well-behaved pets on a case-by-case basis with an additional pet cleaning fee. Since the property is not fenced, pets must remain leashed at all times when outside. We kindly ask that pets stay off furniture to help us maintain the home for all guests.

Check-in and Check-out
We are not accepting Saturday arrivals or departures at this time.

A Getaway Close to Home

We all had a wonderful weekend away, without being that far from home. The house was a perfect fit for the 3 couples, with a little extra room to spare. We love cooking so the full kitchen was so welcome and the hot tube was pure joy in the colder winter air. The house was clean, beautifully appointed, and welcoming. Our hosts could not have been more welcoming. We will be back!

Lovely Retreat

Foxtail house is a comfortable, spacious and peaceful retreat. Located on a stunning section of tidal river you will find yourself mesmerized by the wildlife, bird song and the play of light on the marsh grasses. We were a group of 6 family members attending a days long memorial gathering and we were very thankful to be able to return to such a lovely home at the end of the day. Clean, fully stocked kitchen, great bathrooms, several indoor and outdoor gathering spots as well as bedrooms well spaced for quiet and privacy. Nicolette is very responsive and helpful owner/manager. Expectations, instructions (hot tub, air conditioners, etc) and house rules are clear. We would and probably will stay here again. Foxtail is a very special place. Thanks Nicolette!

Easter with the grandparents

My husband, 6 year old daughter, and my parents stayed here for a long weekend over Easter. We had a wonderful, relaxing stay. We hung out around the fire pit, sipped drinks on the porch, relaxed in the hammock and hot tub, and enjoyed all the spring blooms in the beautiful yard. We cooked meals in the well equipped kitchen and after dinner enjoyed playing games in the dining room. Couldn't have asked for a better place. My parents stayed in the master bedroom downstairs, while my husband, daughter and I enjoyed a "sleepover" in the king bedroom upstairs. Two more couples could have comfortably joined us without feeling crowded. Nicolette was lovely to communicate with throughout the check in and out process, and the house was very clean and in top notch condition. Can't wait to go back! As soon as we drove down the lane on our way out my daughter asked if we can come back for summer vacation.

Lovely Foxtail House!

My family and my parents thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Foxtail house, and I’m a bit of a hero for finding this gem for our vacation! I wouldn’t be surprised if this stunning house were to adorn the pages of a décor magazine; the beautiful woodwork, large windows, plank flooring, cream plaster walls, high ceilings, and combination of traditional and modern fixtures and furnishings provide warmth and a sense of history while feeling light and spacious. The setting feels private and peaceful with beautiful views of the river, and the neighbors on either side not close and mostly hidden. We loved seeing the flock of peacocks from next door wandering the property, and one morning we were lucky to see a pair of bald eagles perched on a tree by the water. My parents are interested in gardening, so they were delighted to see some unusual trees and shrubs planted around the house. We hope to return to the Foxtail for another relaxing vacation someday soon!

Annual college reunion

We had a wonderful stay at this beautifully renovated property. The setting on the water is beautiful. We cooked dinner in every night and enjoyed cocktails by the fire pit. Highly recommend this property.

About the host

Host profile image

Hi! I’m Nicolette. Born and raised in NJ and now living in The City of Brotherly Love 8 years and counting. My background is in marketing and a few years ago I transitioned to real estate. I absolutely love my work and now, everywhere I go, whether I’m walking through my neighborhood in Philadelphia or meandering along a quiet European street, I can’t help but obsess over local architecture and home design.

My favorite things include my fiancé, Jon, our dog, Palmer, mac n cheese, and coffee. Runners up include eating out, either exploring new restaurants and returning to favorite haunts, summer time and everything amazing that comes with it, and a good book.

I’ve stayed in short term rentals all over the world and love that it enables connections with new people. I look forward to meeting you :)

Why they chose this property

The most beautiful sunsets, the peace and quiet, the serenity, the sounds of wildlife... we fell in love with The Foxtail the moment we first laid our eyes on her.
