Beautiful Rural setting and easy to get around

Beautiful home in a rural setting. Sweet and private unit with its own entrance off the side of the house.
Very sunny and up-lifting.
centrally located just off the 580 and the 13 freeways in Oakland and close to everything.

One block from one of the most beautiful trails in the east bay. Super close to tons of state parks and yet just 8 minutes to Downtown Oakland and 15 minutes to the Bay Bridge.

The unit has a private entrance, full kitchen. I live in the front side of the house.

Great place. Cottage was perfect. However front door handle should be replaced. Hard to open Handle would not open this morning. We had to jimmy it with a knife to open it to get out this morning

Nice place overall

The place was okay for 1 or 2 people I think the listing could use more pictures, and it should be made clearer that it shares an adjoining wall with the owner's house. Hearing conversation thru the wall didn't both me, they weren't loud, but it made me self-conscious about using the TV. Heater in bedroom worked well. The location is convenient to stores and places to go. For instance, it's about 10 minutes from Trader Joe's, coffee shops, restaurants and See's Candy on College Ave. Decent price. I'd stay there again.

Vrbo let me down

Ten days into what was supposed to be a two month stay, my host informed me that VRBO hadn’t paid her (I’d been 90% paid up five months in advance!) and asked me to accept a refund for the balance of my stay. I have no complaints about the venue but very concerned about VRBO’a business practices.

Good Central Location for Touring the Bay Area

This property is very close to San Francisco and not too far a drive from places like Napa, Sonoma Valley, Muir Woods, and Berkeley. With a bit more of a drive you can even visit Monterey and Carmel in a day.

Nice and quaint

I was traveling to California for work and this room was perfect for me. It had what I needed in the small kitchen. The location was fantastic. It was close to where I was working and in an area that felt very safe.

The little place was extremely cozy and comforting! I would stay here again in a heart beat! Great place to stay

Host is friendly and very helpful. Very large upper and lower yard. Property is in a quiet rural setting would not know your in a city. At the same time it’s quick and easy to access the freeway from the property, great location. Very comfortable lodgings.

Review of stay

Rebecca was nice and responsive when we had questions. The surrounding area of the property was peaceful and the property was hidden from the community, which felt safe. The host's personal home shares the same building as the space we rented and is separated by an internal wall. Because of this, we could easily hear one another, and at times didn’t feel as private. The fridge was very nice and had plenty of space. We did feel the counter space and kitchen tools were minimal, but we do like to cook our own meals when traveling, so this could be more of a personal preference depending on what you wish to get out of your experience. The bed was comfortable and it was silent at night. The bathroom sink and shower were very tight. When we would wash our face/hands in the sink, the water would often spill onto the floor because there wasn’t much room. The WiFi worked great and we very much appreciated this since we needed to work a little during our stay. All in all, we had a positive experience. Our most notable feedback on improvement would be installing hooks to hang kitchen towels and bathroom towels to dry. We needed to improvise and hang them over chairs.

Nice enough for the price.

The unit was adequate. Upon arrival I was very surprise at the condition of the outdoors. Dried weeds/foxtails everywhere. Plenty planters with dead dry plants. Couldn't us the BBQ because low propane tank didn't allow for high heat. Solar light over the unit door wasn't working, so fumbling to find key holes. Hair in the shower and when the large floor fan was turned on, that stirred up hair balls from under the bed.... Was told there was a TV but couldn't use it because it wasn't hooked up to Roku, Netflix or Hulu I was told was available. It's understandable why the rate was so low. Shame, but no pride of ownership.

So sorry to hear that you were not satisfied. The listing did not list TV as I told you we we working on installing it. In regards to the BBQ you never asked me about that. We could have hooked up another propane tank if the first one was low. In regards to dry weeds. This is the Oakland hills and it is summer time in a drought. So watering plants is not happening as much. On another note you repeatedly left bags of your dogs poop outside your unit which was disrespectful and not good. I in fact take much pride in caring for the unit. Again sorry hear that it did not meet your satisfaction.

Great Location and Stay

Rebecca was prompt, responsive and welcoming. The Saturday we were the she hosted a pool party during the day but still invited us to join the group if we wanted to. She did mention that she occasionally rents out the pool to groups not staying at the house. I recommend contacting her ahead of time if you want to host something at the pool. We would stay again.
