While this listing claims to have four beds, when we arrived there were no sheets for the pull-out couches. When we asked for the sheets, we were told that we would be responsible for cleaning them if given the code to the storage area. Luckily, we were coming from close by so some of our guests brought sheets but there is no reason for this to be the case. We never heard back in the Vrbo messaging system from the host but only received any response by calling the main number listed. Overall, the house was fine and as expected but it is unacceptable to not provide enough sheets for all the beds.
The property worked for our dogs; however, we did not use the backyard due to concern about mushrooms growing my the tree and not trusting our dogs to stay away from them. The rooms were of reasonable size - especially the back bedroom. Kitchen was well stocked with supplies. Having a washer and dryer was great. There was a problem with trash can. It didn't get picked up by the city on Tuesday; which I notified the owners about. On Tuesday night or Wednesday morning it tipped over (raccoons or some other critter I would guess), and it took until Friday for the owners to clean it up.
The stay was very to myself and very beautiful. I love how he had the swan as towels. The property was very clean no one bothered us. Definitely going to stay here again!
Once you make it up the stairs, the house is so welcoming!!! The owner had towel animals on the beds that reminded me of being on a cruise ship. The beds were very comfortable as well as the couch. The Owner was exceptional!!! I corresponded with him throughout my stay and received immediate responses. I would stay there again the next time I’m in Austin!

Liked: Check-in, communication, listing accuracy
Deferred maintenance, nice host
The good: The host was very responsive and accommodating. The location is good if you plan to be out and about most of your stay. This property is OK for people who don’t care too much about cleanliness and comfort.
The surprising: The condition of the property reflects deferred maintenance (disrepair), from the stairs (erosion, wood rot) to the plumbing (faulty drainage, leaks) to the ceiling light (broken) to the floorboards (not correctly installed/cracks). Although the cleaning crew made some special decorative touches with the towels, I was surprised to find quite a bit of hair from previous guests in the bed, bathroom and closet; dirt in various corners; and leftover (dirty/broken) kids’ toys, half-used tubes of toothpaste, and odd food items (open packages of flour, sugar, spices etc.). Some of the furniture was stained and broken. The roach bait by the front door was not a good sign, as both the front and back door had large cracks between the door frames and the doors. The balcony and backyard showed neglect/debris and were by no means cozy.
Bottom line: For young folks who want a “camping”-type experience with running water, this is a place not far from Austin nightlife/bars. For people looking for a motel-caliber of cleanliness, with well maintained amenities, I suggest asking the host for one of their alternative, upgraded properties. If you have difficulty at all with steep and/or rickety stairs, please look for a more ADA-friendly place.
Good Location, But Some Details Need to be Addressed
Overall the location was great with access to all the city has to offer and the area was quiet for our 21 day stay. Comfortable beds. Big Smart TV in the living room. The owner was quick to respond to resolve some issues and provided cleaning supplies and a broom.
However, attention to detail can take away from the positives of the property.
No Dressers in either Bedroom, so living out of our suit cases was difficult. COVID is over, so remove the desks and put dressers back in the bedrooms. If the owner is requesting 30D minimum, dressers are needed and triple the supply of hangers (ie limited count of hangers during our stay).
Cleanliness of the Rental was Lacking. Dirt/dust along several white base boards, primary bath tub drain not allowing water to drain properly, and the nice outside deck was covered with sticks, leaves and dirt debris. We cleaned deck up, after the owner provided a broom. I get it, it was spring in Texas, but the cleaning company should sweep the deck prior to arrival of new renters.
Kitchen Content of dinner dishes, drinking glasses, wine glasses, coffee mugs, and silverware was lacking, If you have 4 people staying at the property, it would be nice to all have enough similar items to entertain, without a mix or shortage of items. Again, if the owner is requesting a 30D minimum rental, set the property up to handle extended stays.
Rating Dropped to 3 Star, based on the input noted above. Details Count!
Check-in was easy, the house was very nice. It had plenty of pillows & blankets. We enjoyed our two nights there! It was close to the concert venue and to the state capitol.
What stood out to us the most was the location, which was nice and quiet and the view from the balcony was quaint and comfortable. Overall the unit had everything covered and more than enough space. We would stay here again.
Our family likes a quiet location with easy access to different areas. Everything was just as advertised. The owner/manager was spot on with communication. (Sorry to wake you up M.). We would stay here again if ever in Austin.
The property was clean and exactly as listed. The only thing we would change is the beds we tried both and they were too soft for us. The other was the deck seating was not the most comfortable so we didn’t use the deck. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it.
