Linden Lodge on Mount Nittany - Fantastic Winery Views
This contemporary home built on the southern slope of Mount Nittany has breathtaking view of Penns Valley and Mount Nittany Vineyard & Winery below. Originally owned by the founders of the winery and now owned by their daughter and son-in-law, it has been recently renovated with a deck expansion, three new bathrooms, flooring and updated furniture and fixtures. The open floor plan, vaulted ceilings and two family rooms were designed to accommodate gatherings of family and friends. Only six miles from Penn State University, Beaver Stadium, Pegula Ice Hockey Rink, Bryce Jordan Center, and State College, this private location provides a peaceful respite from the congestion of this college town. It is also a perfect home away from home for business or social travelers visiting Penn State.

This was the perfect place for myself and 4 of my grad school friends to spend a long weekend. The owners were great to work with and we enjoyed visiting the winery just a few steps from the house. Thanks so much!

Barbara,
Thanks so much! Please come back again with your group, we very much enjoyed having you visit Linden Lodge. Steve
Great stay with our family. All appliances worked well, large kitchen for Thanksgiving prep, two common areas for gathering (den and living room)Outdoor temps were too cold for enjoying the outside, but had a lovely visit to the winery tasting room just a short walk from the house. We would have thoroughly enjoyed the screen porch and fire pit if we were there earlier in the season. House could use some window treatments in all rooms and more lighting in the living room during winter months.
We had the opportunity to stay at Linden Lodge for our son's baseball tournament in State College. The location was perfect - close to all local attractions but on a quiet secluded road. The views of the winery below were magnificent. Highly recommend visiting the winery as it is a fantastic way to spend an afternoon. We hope to return again!

Abundance of windows allowing everyone to share the beauty of the surroundings. Ability for guests to gather as a group or in individual pods. The fireplace provided an extra enjoyable gathering spot. Hosts were welcoming and accomodating.
This home has the most beautiful view and is a great location! It is also very well stocked, definitely recommend!

Just saw this as I was reviewing our listing - thanks so much for staying and we look forward to future visits!
Fantastic property, amazing view, and great house. Host was incredibly responsive and so easy to work with. Only complaint is there there were some dead bugs on the bathroom floors but that didn’t bother us. Highly recommend and hope to be back again soon!

Jessica, so glad you enjoyed your stay at Linden Lodge. Occasionally, right after a visit by the pest company, some dead bugs will end up on the floor as a result. Sorry it happened during your stay. I'll keep closer tabs on the timing of the pest control treatments. Thanks Steve
From the view to hospitality to the vineyard to perfect weather to being in Happy Valley, this heavenly home was the perfect place for our family to gather for a long weekend!

If you’re heading up to State College and looking for a home that is conveniently located, but away from the hustle and bustle of campus I highly recommend Linden Lodge. Situated on the grounds of Mount Nittany Winery but privately tucked away, this home was perfect. Mid century modern architecture and beautifully decorated with the most stunning views. I’d stay here again in a heart beat.
Perfect Getaway near State College with a beautiful view and A+ Winery
Couldn't have asked for better or more accommodating hosts, the cabin was immaculate with plenty of room for a friend's getaway. The View is stunning, overlooking the winery and mountains. A short walk to the winery for a tasting of some of the best wine we've ever had. The proximity to state college and all of its amenities was wonderful. Really enjoyed the stay, will be back!

Thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend here! Nice house in a beautiful and private setting. Although you may feel like you are a million miles away from the world, the house is conveniently close to downtown State College and Penn State. Enjoyed walking down to the winery tasting room for an afternoon sampling.

Thanks so much for staying with us and your comments on Linden Lodge. It is a unique property that we can now share with others, after being in our family since 1983. Very much hope to see you again! Thanks Steve
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We had a group ranging from 23 through 78 and the accommodations were perfect for all. The property owner was very responsive and we enjoyed a nice surprise of wine, cheese, sausage and crackers from the winery upon arrival. The deck was the perfect spot for an afternoon snooze or an early evening glass of wine.

About the host
Hosted by Stephen Weaver
My husband, Steve, and I purchased the home and 63-acre property from my parents in 2020. I grew up in State College and graduated from Penn State in 1978 with a business degree. In our early married life, Steve and I both worked in banking in Pittsburgh until Steve's job took us to Australia for three years. Returning to Pittsburgh, we raised our three boys and enjoyed a happy suburban existence until we became empty nesters and were looking to leave the city. We always loved the State College area and were delighted to return to become involved in the winery business which we eventually took over from my parents, Joe & Betty Carroll, in 2016.
Why they chose this property
This house was built in the1960's and was ahead of it's time with an open floor plan and raised ceilings. It was a "kit" home, called a California Deck Home. It's a very livable house with lots of natural light and lovely views from every room. On the property there is a pond which is inhabited by bass, blue gill and several "grandaddy" grass carp.
What makes this property unique
House Rules: No parties/events allowed No smoking on the property No hunting permitted Insurance will not permit swimming or fishing in the pond Minimum age of primary renter is 25
