About this property
The Mesa Verde Tiny House
Welcome to the Four Corners Tiny House—a handcrafted basecamp just outside Cortez with big sky views. Inside is simple and functional. The kitchen has a sink, microwave, hot plate, and essentials. A loft bed with a new mattress and a futon for extra sleeping space. The bathroom has a full-size shower with on-demand hot water. Step outside to your private deck, fire pit, and Adirondack chairs, perfect for coffee, fires, and views. (Water pressure issues noted by prior guests have been resolved.)
We’re located just 5 minutes south of Cortez on a peaceful 9-acre property shared with friendly dogs, cats, and free-roaming chickens.
There are four well-spaced rentals on the land, including the Mesa Verde Tiny House, Sleeping Ute Tiny House, and Mesa Verde Casita. Each is set up for privacy and a quiet retreat. If you’re planning a group or family stay, renting multiple units works well—each space comfortably sleeps 2–3 guests.
Please note: WiFi is slower than in urban areas due to the rural setting, but it’s generally reliable for video calls. Guests regularly do video sessions without significant issue.
Guests are welcome to explore the property—relax by the pond, enjoy the open space, or say hello to our animals.
If you’d like to use the fire pit, please message us first. We’re happy to approve it when conditions allow, though county fire restrictions may apply.
Our family hot tub isn’t a listed amenity but may be available depending on our schedule. Feel free to ask during your stay.
We respect your privacy and give guests plenty of space, but we also enjoy meeting people. We’re happy to share recommendations or chat about the area.
If you’d like to connect, just let us know—we’re here to help make your stay a great one.
WE ASK THAT YOU READ THE ENTIRE INFORMATION FROM THIS LISTING AND REVIEW ALL PHOTOS BEFORE YOU BOOK . This is a handcrafted, slightly quirky space with real character—not a hotel or luxury resort. If you’re looking for something highly polished or conventional, or are high maintenance folk, this WILL NOT be the right fit.
That said, we’re experienced Superhosts who care about creating a unique and comfortable stay. We’re easygoing, responsive, and do our best to make things smooth. All we ask in return is a bit of kindness, flexibility, and a sense of adventure. IF YOU ARE NOT COMPLETELY SATISFIED WITH YOUR STAY, MESSAGE US SO WE CAN MAKE IT RIGHT.
Good to know:
We now have a Keurig with donut shop coffee pods as well as creamer. If you want to use the drip coffee pot, please bring your own coffee, but we usually have drip coffee on hand , coffee filters, etc as well.

The loft bed is full-size and accessed by a ladder. The futon is suitable for sleeping, though some guests may find it uncomfortable.
Our new plumbing team thoroughly troubleshot the entire system and ultimately located a stuck valve beneath the house. With that repaired, the Tiny House now has NORMAL residential water pressure throughout.
Also, our air conditioning is a window unit and is installed between early May and October.
We pay our cleaning staff a living wage as part of our commitment to the local community

We stayed only one night while visiting Mesa Verde area and this home had everything we needed. We enjoyed a great night's sleep at this beautiful location!
We loved our stay in this tiny home! Very clean and neat. It had everything we needed. Host was great and tended to all of our needs. Beautiful view of mountains from tiny home. We could’ve used some more shade outside, maybe an outdoor table to eat at as well. The loft is a little small… I hit my head sitting up jolting awake one morning hahaha; just be careful! Great stay.
This was a great place to stay, quiet, peaceful, close to Mesa Verde. Only issue was that VRBO sent out a wrong address for the place and it would be nice for the JJ Lewis Sign to be mentioned in the check in instructions. We came in after dark and had some minor difficulty finding the property due to the wrong address from Vrbo.
This is my second visit to this lovely tiny house. It is so peaceful, quiet and perfect for a solo getaway for a few days. Jonathon is a very kind and responsive host. I will certainly come back next year. Peace and blessings 💜

Everything was absolutely perfect! Such a great experience. We would like to do this again.
We had the best time staying in this tiny home - got to enjoy the sunset and stargaze from the bed. JJ, the owner, was beyond awesome; he lent us two of his mountain bikes to explore Phil's World trails before we left and it was - simply put - the best. The mini adventure was a perfect way to start a day that mostly consisted of seven hours of driving back home to Denver. We will definitely look to return when next we find ourselves in/around Cortez. Thanks!
