About this property
Woodland Trails Lodge on 130 acres with ponds and miles of private trails
Woodland Trails' Lodge was built in 2003 to be an upscale B & B and has been meticulously maintained since. It is now available for your exclusive use. The Great Room is a perfet place for your friends and family to gather. The wood-burning fireplace, with wood provided, adds cozieness.
The dining room has seating for everyone, and the kitchen is fully equipped.
The view out the windows is of wildlife, including deer, and birds at the feeders. Our private pond is a big figure "8" that makes for an enjoyable trip around on one of our paddle boats or canoe.
The seven bedrooms are all spacious, have a private bath, comfortable seating area with electric fireplace and a private deck or patio. Six of the baths also have a whirlpool tub. Each bedroom is perfect for quiet time, to take a nap or read a book.
The Owners' Suite, with bedroom, bath and living room is on the main floor. It is perfect for anyone who has difficulty with stairs. Four bedrooms are located on the 2nd floor. They are the Winterberry, Royal Fern, Aspen and Red Oak. The St. Croix and Sugar Maple Rooms are located on the lower, walk-out level.
Five of the bedrooms have king-size beds. The Red Oak as a queen-size and the Sugar Maple has two twin beds and a private bath with shower but no tub.
We have miles of private trails on our wooded land. Outside of snow season, golf carts are provided for touring in comfort.
Bring your four-wheelers or snowmobiles. We have plenty of parking. Our trails are reserved for hiking, snowshoeing and our complimentary golf carts but, in Pine County, it is legal to ride ATVs and Four-Wheelers on the roadside to a major trail system 1/2 mile north of the Lodge.
While our address is Hinckley, we are located 23 miles east of Hinckley, near the St. Croix River and the Wisconsin border. We are just four miles from Danbury, Wisconsin.
We are an easy two-hour drive from the Twin Cities, St. Cloud or Eau Claire and just over an hour from Duluth.
Besides enjoying the view, perhaps with a real-wood fire in the fireplace, guests enjoy watching the birds at feeders outside.
Your well-behaved one or two dogs are welcome.
Two casinos are nearby: St. Croix Casino in Danbury and Grand Casino in Hinckley.
Canoeing and tubing on the St. Croix and Namekagan Rivers through Pardun Conoe Rental in Danbury.
Four-wheeling? Bring yours or rent from Throttle RX Rentals in Danbury.
St. Croix State Park, Minnesota's largest, has activities in every season. Crex Meadows Wildlife Area in Grantsburg has great wildlife watching, particularly during spring and fall migrations. Forts Folle Avoine in Webster, Wisconsin is a reproduction of an 1803 fur trading post.
What are your interests? Let us know and we will be happy to make suggestions.
Rates: The base rate covers six guests. The rate for each additional guest is $45 per person per night, which is shown under "Host Fees" and "Additional Guests".

About the host
Hosted by John & Sandra O'Reilly

When we first bought land here, there were no buildings, only one power pole with an electrical outlet. This meant the tent we were using for weekend getaways could have a fan in the summer and an electric heater in winter.
The first building was the garage located next to to what is now the Lodge. On weekends, we would roll a tractor out of the garage, roll some carpet down, put a screen over the the garage door opening and it became our dryer, warmer tent.
The next building was a one bedroom cabin built on a crawl space where the Lodge stands today. When we were about the build the Lodge in 2003, the cabin was moved across the field to its present location. A walkout basement with two more bedrooms, a bath and a TV room was added.
The Lodge was originally build to be a B & B which we happily ran for 15 years until COVID hit. The best part of running the B & B was the guests, some of whom came back more than a dozen times.
Now both the Cabin and the Lodge are available for rent by families and friends. We still get enjoyment out of seeing guests use and enjoy the facilities like the trails, the pond and the fire rings, one outside both the Cabin and the Lodge.

Why they chose this property
Our property is unique with lots of woods and over three miles of private trails.
Guests enjoy watching wildlife out the windows including birds, such as the pileated woodpecker, squirrels, both red and grey, and deer.
The views are great. From the Cabin, guests can enjoy the view of the St. Croix River Valley. From the Lodge guests can view the pond, which we call Grace Lake Too, and the birds at feeders.
When guests take a paddle boat or canoe around the pond, they are surprised that it is bigger than they first guessed.
Guests can enjoy the private trails while hiking, snowshoeing or driving in comfort on a complimentary Golf Cart.

What makes this property unique
We like to describe both the Lodge and the Cabin as "Nice places to stay with something to do" inside and outside. Both are upscale facilities with all the modern convieniences and tasteful, rustic decor.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome and, if trusted by their owner, can run freely off leash.
