Great stay! Extremely helpful getting us checked in and gave us as much space as needed the rest of the weekend. Ranch and wildlife were beautiful and enjoyed some fishing. Great weekend if you want some quiet!
We loved our stay what an awesome place. Great people enjoyed visiting with John. He mowed a path for us to walk the property down to the river. Lots of interesting wildlife and great scenery. And you’re not far from the state park. We will be doing it again. Kyle and Gloria

We’re so glad you enjoyed your stay and had the opportunity to explore the ranch. The river path is one of my favorite spots as well—peaceful, scenic, and wonderful for birdwatching and enjoying nature.
You were truly gracious and understanding guests, and it was a pleasure hosting you both. We’d love to welcome you back again someday.
Beautiful property with the most gracious hosts! The attention to detail and the little extras that Karen and John give definitely put the experience over the top! The cabin is beautiful and well stocked and the animals are so fun to watch. We hope to be back soon!
The Sloans are such kind and welcoming folks. It felt like home and we will be going back.

We loved having you! Birthday celebrations are extra special and we’re delighted you spent yours on the ranch. It was especially fun to watch the two of you round the corner in your kayaks a half mile up the river and head back to our launch. I’m also glad clear skies let you enjoy the hot tub bathed in stars. Hope to see you again!

Thanks again for choosing Andi's Cabin. It was great hearing how much you enjoyed watching and feeding our exotics. I agree--watching the three oryx calves romp with complete abandon is a sight to behold. Your comment that you wished you could stay longer is something we love to hear--hope to see you back! Thanks for being such wonderful guests.
Great little cabin for a couple. Enjoyed our stay. Helpful hosts and very hospitable.

Thank you for being exceptional guests—you made the best of a rainy weekend by taking advantage of area attractions. We’d love to have you visit again when you can explore the ranch and enjoy the hot rub under a canopy of stars.
What a wonderful get away! We arrived with a warm welcome to the property, we loved all of the animals and more. The fire place outside and the hot tub was an amazing nice relaxing addition to our stay! We will be back with the whole family to rent both properties!!Also they added a hook for our 3 month old to have her swing since that’s all she loves! We are extremely thankful for the outgoing little things that was provided to make our stay a little more peaceful
Our stay was amazing! The hosts are so delightful and opening, we felt so at home! We will be back often! The property and exotics just made the trip even better! They also have thought of everything that you could ever need down to a flat iron, I had left mine at home!
The pictures online don't do this property justice. The home is adorably decorated, but beyond even that, exotic deer/antelope roam just out your windows (outside a fence) and you get to feed them. But more than that, i) it's a comfortable walk to the Colorado River, and ii) the host was so generous to provide sweet baked goods and the finest coffee and more!
We were delighted that you chose Red Bluff Guest ranch and Andi's Cabin as headquarters for a special celebration. Glad you could explore our beautiful river overflowing its banks due to our wonderful spring rains.
I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a nice relaxing stay. In the middle of a gorgeous ranch with amazing wildlife to view. Great hot tub and outdoor fireplace to make your outside time fun. Hosts were very helpful and kind.Close enough to town that you can make a quick trip in and have numerous restaurants to chose from. Also made a trip to fiesta winery near buy for some amazing wine. 100% would recommend to anyone look for a nice cabin stay

Thank you, Melissa. I’m so happy to know the cabin exceeded your expectations. Our goal is to give our guests all they expect and a little bit more. I hope you’re taking lots of happy memories home with you.
The previous reviews intrigued me so I had to find out for myself. The host, the hospitality, and the sheer attention to detail is why we booked with Karen and John. I have 5 kids, my husband and I have been together nearly 20 years and haven't done a weekend away since we were kids ourselves. Karen and John pulled out all stops. We were met at the gate and taken through the property so they could properly explain the layout, give us the low down on the animals, the hot tub, the supplies for the fireplace, the opening and closing of gates, and any other questions we might have. I'm very meticulous & particular, some would say OCD, so when I walked in this place, I truly was in heaven. The labels, the organization, the quality of the bed linens, hand soaps, the decor, the hand written and personalized notes left for us, the hand baked cinnamon rolls that were left with clear instructions on how to reheat to get the best results before eating, the amazing chocolate cookie we both drooled over, the organic products such as the coffee and teas, not to mention the 3 different ways you could brew them, the binder she left of the wild life on the property explaining the species & rarity of them, the feed they leave you to feed the animals, the s'mores kits, the hot tub and night sky, the best kept secret is the fishing y'all! We landed 2 in the first 10mins of being out there! To our surprise, the checkout was extended so as not to rush which was so nice!Stop looking and book!
We had the best time at Andi’s Cabin ! The property is gorgeous, quiet and clean . The cabin has everything you need for a relaxing trip. The hot tub was amazing for watching the stars at night. It was fun watching all the exotics that roam the property.

About the host
Hosted by Sloan Carpe Diem Ranch, LLC
We’re John and Karen, and we’ve saved the best adventure for last.
We met in college, married at 21, and have just rounded the corner on 50 years together. Along the way we raised two daughters, gained a wonderful son-in-law, and are now lucky grandparents (and great-grandparents!)—a role we embrace joyfully.
Our professional lives have taken many paths in five different states: decades of university teaching, running an extended-stay wellness business in Park City, research leadership for a regional hospital, and six months of off-grid living and teaching in San Juan National Forest. In 2014, we bought Sloan Carpe Diem Ranch with a simple plan: retire, ride horses, and immerse ourselves in the natural beauty of the Texas Hill Country. The ranch had other ideas. What began as a personal retreat grew—thoughtfully and organically—into a place we now love sharing with guests who value nature, outdoor adventure, and comfort in equal measure.
Andi’s Cabin holds special meaning for us. It’s a tribute to our daughter, whose life experiences were the catalyst for our move from East Texas to the Hill Country. The cabin reflects some of that journey—simple, grounded, and intentionally designed to be a place of calm, restoration, and connection to the natural world.
Today, we live onsite and host hands-on. We’re here to help if you need us and happy to fade into the background if you don’t. Our goal is simple: to offer a stay that feels personal, unrushed, and quietly special—one you’ll still be thinking about long after you’ve gone home.
Why they chose this property
We chose this ranch because its western boundary is the Colorado River—a rare and beautiful find in the Texas Hill Country. Once we settled in, we realized just how lucky we were: we’re only a mile from the nearest highway, yet it feels worlds away. At the same time, the charming town of San Saba is just a short drive down the road.
We later discovered something extraordinary—the eastern edge of the ranch sits along a major route of the Central Flyway, one of North America’s key bird migration corridors. Combined with the river, this location brings an ever-changing parade of birdlife to our doorstep—from tiny hummingbirds to majestic bald eagles.
What makes this property unique
True seclusion is rare, and this ranch has it—nearly a mile from the nearest highway and almost half a mile from the closest neighbor. Surrounded by rolling Hill Country terrain, the land stretches west to the Colorado River, creating a setting that feels expansive, quiet, and deeply connected to nature.
What truly sets the property apart is the closeness of wildlife. This is a working conservation ranch where animals move freely across the land. Native wildlife—white-tailed deer, foxes, raccoons, armadillos, and abundant birdlife—are part of everyday life here. In addition, several exotic species, including axis deer, blackbuck antelope, fallow deer, scimitar oryx, Urial sheep, and Pere David's deer, often graze within yards of the lodging. Guests regularly experience wildlife at distances close enough to take detailed photos.
Across the river, the historic Red Bluffs rise nearly 100 feet above the water, forming a dramatic, timeless backdrop that gives this stretch of river a distinctly wild character.
We live onsite and care for the land ourselves, which allows us to offer discreet hospitality—available whenever you need us and comfortably out of the way when you don’t. Our greatest pleasure is sharing this quiet, natural place with guests who value privacy, nature, and a stay that feels genuinely personal.
