About this property

Secluded Wildlife Ranch. Kayak on Colorado River. Feed Exotics.

The Ranch Is Yours to Explore

Redbird Landing sits on our 140-acre wildlife ranch, where free-ranging exotic and native animals are part of everyday life. Step outside and you may spot fallow or axis deer, blackbuck, scimitar-horned oryx, Pere David`s deer, and other wildlife grazing across the ranch.

Walk the ranch roads and trails, photograph wildlife, or grab a complimentary bag of wildlife `kibbles` and head to one of the nearby troughs--if the fallow hear you coming, they`ll be waiting!

Birdwatchers have plenty to discover, too. More than 100 bird species have been documented on the ranch, from the Colorado River and wooded areas to open pastures and brushy thickets.

Head to the River

A short walk down quiet ranch roads takes you to half a mile private access to the Colorado River. Kayak, paddle boat, fish, swim, explore the gravel bars, hunt for colorful Texas rocks, or simply find a quiet place beside the water.

Two single-person kayaks and our four-person paddle boat are complimentary for guest use by arrangement. River-day gear and life jackets are provided; age and safety requirements apply to kayak use.

Room to Gather—and Room to Spread Out

Redbird Landing is a comfortable three-bedroom, two-bath home designed for families and groups of up to six. With a spacious great room, dedicated game room, full kitchen, outdoor gathering areas, and more than an acre of fenced yard, there`s room to spend time together without feeling crowded.

The three private bedrooms include a king bedroom with private bath, a bunk room, and a third bedroom with twin beds. Two full bathrooms and a separate laundry room with full-size washer and dryer make longer stays easy.

Game Time

Rainy afternoon? Quiet evening after the river? Redbird has plenty to do indoors. The dedicated game room features a convertible poker and bumper-pool table along with a collection of board and card games. Because the room is separate from the bedrooms, night owls can keep playing after others turn in.

In the great room, challenge someone to a game on the regulation shuffleboard table, settle into the large leather sofa for a movie, or turn on the Bluetooth speaker for music. A Roku TV, Starlink Wi-Fi, DVD player, and library of DVDs are also provided.

When the Weather`s Beautiful, Take the Games Outside

More than an acre of fenced yard gives families and friends plenty of room to play. Choose from badminton, croquet, Spikeball, cornhole, ladder golf, glow-in-the-dark ring toss, kids` dodgeball, and other outdoor games provided for guests.

There`s room for a little friendly competition—or for the kids to burn off some energy while the adults relax nearby.

Cook, Eat & Gather

The large, fully equipped kitchen has full-size appliances, cookware, and the essentials needed to prepare meals from scratch. Gather around the distinctive glass-top wine-barrel dining table, pull up a stool at the kitchen counter, or take dinner outside to the large picnic table and grill.

Dinner on the Grounds

A covered front porch, back deck, crushed-granite patio, fire pit, and more than an acre of fenced yard give you plenty of choices for spending time outdoors. After dark, gather around the fire pit and look up—our rural Hill Country location offers exceptionally dark skies for stargazing.

About the host

Dear Guests,
Welcome to our Texas Hill Country oasis. My husband, John, and I came here a decade ago, seeking solace and renewal after a profound loss. We found the healing and rejuvenation we yearned for, and our return to a rustic lifestyle has been the best move we've made in half a century of marriage.

I retired two years after we purchased the ranch. Living here fulltime led to the decision to share our slice of paradise with travelers wanting to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of city life – or as many of our guests eloquently describe it, to 'unplug, relax, and rewind.'

Together, John and I find immense joy in opening our hearts and home to guests like you, sharing the wonders of our 140-acre exotic game ranch.

Hosting allows me to continue a lifelong pursuit: meeting new people and crafting unforgettable experiences. Nestled amidst sprawling pastures and surrounded by native wildlife, our remodeled Fleetwood Festival, once a humble bunkroom, offers a unique retreat from the everyday.

As an ardent birdwatcher, I've transformed our ranch into a sanctuary for avian visitors, both migratory and permanent residents. Don't forget your binoculars and camera – you never know what feathered friends you might encounter!

Of course, no getaway is complete without indulging in delicious homemade treats. Baking has been a lifelong passion of mine, and nothing brings me more joy than sharing a warm plate of cookies or freshly baked cinnamon rolls as a token of our hospitality.

During your stay, allow us to serve as your personal concierge, offering insider tips on local attractions, scenic hiking trails, and hidden culinary gems. Our mission is not only to ensure your comfort but also to enrich your experience and make sure you leave "ranch happy."

Thank you for choosing Red Bluff Guest Ranch for your escape to the Texas Hill Country. I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to host you and help create cherished memories that will last a lifetime.

Why they chose this property

Vrbo asks why I chose this neighborhood. I don't know where to begin:
SOLITUDE -- the gate to my ranch is a mile from the nearest highway
THE RIVER -- the banks of the Colorado River are a half-mile walk on private property. The meadow along the river is also private.
THE BIRDS -- The birds were a wonderful surprise. I had no idea that bordering Edwards Plateau would bring hundreds of species of birds to the ranch each year.
WILDLIFE -- something is always being born: a baby oryx; an axis or blackbuck fawn; every spring, half a dozen fallow young. Looking out my kitchen window to see a blackbuck herd 15 yards away. Spotting majestic axis, elusive white tail, or curious fallows on my ranch walks.
NATURE'S SOOTHING VOICE -- No matter what time of day or night I'm outside, the sounds I hear are almost exclusively nature "talking"--birds chirping, a coyote howling, thunder rumbling, rain pinging off our metal roof.
CONVENIENCE -- Two small towns are 10 miles from my front door. No rush-hour traffic, almost

no stop-and-go driving.

What makes this property unique

Our property offers an impressive package of special features and experiences in a setting where everything is within a few minutes' drive or a leisurely walk. Some of my favorites:

Seclusion. Our ranch entrance is a mile from the nearest highway--no concrete, no road traffic, no other manmade structures in sight.

Natural Beauty: Your lodging is surrounded by pristine wilderness and natural habitat for our wildlife, offering a peaceful escape from the city hustle.

Private Colorado River Frontage: Exclusive access to the Colorado River, perfect for fishing, kayaking, or simply relaxing by the water's edge.

Birdwatcher's Haven: Our wildlife preserve runs along the eastern edge of Edwards Plateau, a major migratory corridor. Stunning and seldom seen birds make their home on the ranch either year-round or seasonally. We provide hand-mixed feed, water, and natural shelter to attract and care for them. The river attracts more reclusive birds as well as hawks, herons, egrets, eagles, and owls.

Exotic Animals: Experience the thrill of observing dozens of exotic game animals roaming freely on our ranch, many less than 20 yards from your fenced back yard.

Local Expertise: As your host, I'm an eager resource for places to see, restaurants to try, and things to do to make your stay unforgettableaw
