**History of The Awosting Club** In the mid 1950's John Atwater Bradley, then a graduate student, attended a conference in Cragsmoor, the site of a celebrated art colony not far from what is now the Awosting Reserve and The Awosting Club. The next morning at dawn, he went out for an exploratory hike and did not return until long after dark. Bradley hiked through evergreen and hardwood forests, along bubbling streams, roaring waterfalls and shimmering mountain lakes. He discovered an incredible wilderness like none he'd ever seen, populated by whitetail deer, black bear, fox, racoons, bobcat and coyote as well as a natural aviary of hawks, peregrine falcons, owls, eagles and pileated woodpeckers. That day he fell in love with the Shawangunk Ridge.
The Bradley family still lives on the property, and after 50 years of sharing the property with educational organizations, schools, artists, writers, explorers, camps, family and friends, are excited to invite others to fall in love with the Shawangunk Ridge as John Bradley had over 70 years ago. Bradley's daughter, Camilla, and her family are keeping the Awosting traditions alive by sprucing up the camp buildings and platforms while maintaining the trails that have been used for decades for outdoor adventures: from sleeping to eating to playing to communing with nature in all her glory.

We came here to celebrate our 1 year anniversary and it was incredible. They have everything you could possibly need. We had the best time, and we booked our second stay on the car ride home!

YES!!! So happy you had a great stay.
Thank you John,

This place and the Geo-Dome we stayed in were great - the total "hidden gem" we were looking for. The property rests on a preserve, so the hiking is unbeatable and right outside your door. The chef on site is also a total legend - great cook (food is prepped and placed in the most charming picnic baskets and left at your dome door) with a hilarious sense of humor. I highly recommend this place!

Natalie,
Its so wonderful for us to share Awosting with others.... we do have some hidden magic up here, and so happy you enjoyed it! Thank you for being such a wonderful guest,
Camilla
This is a hidden gem close enough to good food and home but far enough away that feels as if you’re getting an escape from the everyday craziness. Kristen was excellent both on site and leading up to the trip. Will definitely visit the property again—I imagine each season has its own beauty to it!

It was really great. The dome was clean, comfortable and beautiful. Scott was a pleasure! Dinner was brought to the dome and it was pretty good. I can’t wait to visit again. This time in the summer so I can enjoy more of the outdoors. Amazing stay!
Absolutely amazing getaway into the woods. Beautiful grounds, excellent host, quaint and perfect! We hiked/biked Mohonk and Minnewaska, explored the Awosting reserve, and had the best time. Scott helped us plan different things and makes some killer food. Muffins and coffee each morning, eggs, bacon, toast- divine! Loved the dome, the swing in the dome was my favorite cozy little spot. Will DEFINITELY be returning! Thank you so much for an amazing stay!
The Geo-Domes are a great experience. The setting and views are amazing. The dome was spacious and a great place to just relax and unwind. Scott is wonderful. He cooks great meals that are delicious and hand delivered. He is personable and takes the time to talk with you and share stories. Scott definitely added to the experience. We hope to go back again soon to relax and enjoy some fall hiking.

We are very fortunate to have a host that is so connected to our guests and property. Glad you enjoyed tour stay.
Even better and a bit more private than we expected. The domes had a bit more distance and trees between them than expected which made it feel a bit more private than traditional camping. The dome even had electricity, heat, AC, and a mini-fridge. The dome had a big "window" and a view of the woods from there or off the deck which was very nice. The king-size bed was large and comfy, the mini-fridge was a good size with a freezer part as well. They provided so much more than expected... towels, flashlights, a lantern, bug spray, hand sanitizer, tissues, paper towels, umbrellas, a shoe matt/tray, fire making supplies, a wireless speaker, drinking cups and a water dispenser, and there were a few electric sockets around (mostly out of sight behind things) - including an outdoor socket out on the deck.
The hammock and fire-pit were both nice as well. They loaned us a small grill with all the grilling tools and supplied us with reusable plates and cutlery we could use for our stay as well.
We ordered dinner the first night, and Scott made a great lasagna customized as we requested, which was delivered in a cute picnic basket with everything you could need, including bread, salad, and dessert.
Scott was great. Very friendly and accommodating. Pleasant to chat with when we wanted, but certainly sure to give you lots of space and privacy. Always just a call or text away for anything we needed and he drove us on a cart between our car and the dome when we arrived and departed - just a short 2-5 min walk the rest of the time.
A hiking trail of their own, as well as direct access to the Awosting Reserve and lots more nearby.
As advertised the outhouse/outdoor shower was the most rustic part of the experience, but pretty nice for being what it was. Nicely constructed with cedar chips provided and a system of being emptied after each stay. We may have lucked out with the shower being so warm at this time of year - being fed by piped in mountain spring water. The shower also worked for just washing hands and the like - but it is not enclosed - so bring your bathing suit.
Since no one had booked the Lodge when we stayed we got to check out the outside of that as well. A nice place to sit with a nice view. A huge deck and poolside area with some tables, a view of a waterfall in one spot, and both a smaller wading pool and huge half Olympic-sized pool - both also mountain spring-fed.
Again, a great trip and we expect to be back.

Everything about this was amazing. Not only was the property and dome wonderful the staff there was amazing. Kristen was absolutely the friendliest and most accommodating host I’ve ever had. 10/10 recommend coming here. Absolutely beautiful.
My bf, puppy, and I loved this property and the geodome. We visited right before the new year and it was the perfect getaway in the wilderness to recharge before the new year.

Cecille,
We hope to see you again in the warmer months!
We absolutely loved staying at the awaiting club. This place has everything you need for a perfect camping trip filled with luxury. The heated room was so perfect and cozy for our November visit, and the geo-dome was stocked with fun games, blankets, flashlights, a fridge, a lighter, and pretty much everything we needed for our trip! We could have hung out at the cabin the whole time, we loved it there! We went for a hike and our host suggested an awesome area for us to check out. Our host was also super accommodating and even dropped off coffee for us each morning. We would 100% reccomend, and we will definitely be back again.

We had an amazing stay. Our two night extended weekend stay made us feel like we were away at a 7 day spa vacation. A great way to slow down from our hectic City life. So relaxing. The sound of the Palmaghatt Kill at the foot of the gorge was so tranquil. Sitting in the Adirondack chairs on the deck stargazing at night --- to hiking at nearby Shawangunk trails -- all amazing. The Geodome was spectacular. Comfy cozy mattress and fluffy comforter gave for a wonderful night sleep. Lastly, but not least, Scott our favorite chef. A huge friendly personality. My husband referred to him as the Easter Bunny -- delivering goodie baskets at the door. Scott packed our picnic lunch (even included a picnic blanket) which we will never forget. We hiked to a beautiful location by a waterfall to have that picnic lunch. Thank you Scott for all your very attentive care. We hope to make a second visit to the Geodome sometime in the future.

Dome was very clean, property well maintained and beautiful. Hosts were very responsive during the booking and stay. The small details were so great - little flashlights in the dome in case we needed them, surprise carrot cake our first morning, a water jug in the dome with a pitcher... We felt cared for and relaxed. What a gem.

Lauren,
So happy you appreciate the touches:) Thank you!!
Was met at gate by Scott (cool dude ) who led us to our dome. Dome was clean and as described . We could hear the stream running below off the deck. Scott cooked an excellent lasagna meal and delivered it to us the first night and each mourning coffee and hot muffins. Very relaxing and quiet , we will be back.
The domes were so cozy and relaxing. The views were stunning and domes were so comfortable. Everything you need is there or a quick call away. Scott definitely made the stay even more amazing. The morning coffee and muffins were so good. He was also just so enjoyable to spend time with and hospitable. I highly recommend and can't wait to go back!!
