This was our second time staying in this house, we enjoyed the backyard with the firepit and being able to fish from the dock and kayaks. It’s a very peaceful neighborhood!
This property is wonderful. We appreciated the thoughtful amenities and care the hosts obviously have for this property. Our dog loved being able to play in the large yard. We loved being right on the water. The location is fabulous. We had great meals from Newsome's, Horn Harbor Restaurant and Fawn's Delectable Cafe. We enjoyed exploring the Northern Neck! We hope the stars align so we can return on another getaway.
Had a lovely time in Reedville! House was great and stocked with essentials, and we had a fabulous time floating the kayaks around and fishing. Communication, check in, check out all fantastic!! Will come again
We had a great time kayaking, fishing, catching crabs and eating outside with our family under the picnic table. We didn’t get a chance to use the firepit but we really appreciate that there are firewood available to use. The house is was perfect for my family. I’m glad that even though it’s an older home, the bathrooms and bedrooms were updated. My mom and sisters who came with us really enjoyed the stay too. The host were great and awesome too. Quick on responding too.
Overall its a great place to stay. Just a few issues. The water pressure in both showers isnt very good (might just be the shower head as it has 100 holes) and the shower door in the main bathroom leaks at the bottom. We couldnt get the karoake machine to work, but the rest of the game room is awesome. The canoe and kayaking were awesome too and they have several life vests. Overall, we did enjoy our stay!
We were booked to go to OBX, but the snowstorm changed that...so plan B! Plan B was a fantastic choice...great place to chill out, drink wine, dance and relax by the bonfire! Hosts were very quick to respond to emails, the beds were comfy and the kitchen stocked! I'd love to come back (I live in Oregon) and bring my grandsons here this Summer!
This vacation house was perfect for our family. We loved the location. We enjoyed kayaking every day and fishing. It was nice sitting down by the water around the fire pit, after a long day. The game room was an added bonus. We can’t wait to come back again sometime.
Walkable to Main Street restaurants, ice cream and shops. Quiet neighborhood. Comfortable house. Enjoyed our stay completely. Will be back. Thank you for hosting.
The location is great and the house was as described and pictured. Everyone enjoyed the game room, fire pit and kayaking. Hosts were super quick to respond with any questions. We would definitely stay again!
My husband and infant twins enjoyed a relaxing stay in Reedville- the house is clean and welcoming and had everything we needed. The view is great and we enjoyed the kayaks. We enjoyed local seafood for dinner and a drive to kilmarnock. Hope to come back soon!
Great experience - kayaks, game room, fire pit, etc. all as advertised - walking distance to Reedville Main St. Gracious hosts providing all toys needed to fish, paddle, play and have a great time!
What an excellent experience we had while staying in this lovely cottage. Such a peaceful place with the most beautiful views of the river. We enjoyed the paddle boat and kayaks, fishing & crabbing off the dock, and sitting in the backyard reading a good book. The house is great and has everything you will need. We absolutely can not wait to return to this piece of paradise.
The house was great, especially for kids. Lots of toys and the bunk beds were a hit. We enjoyed the water despite the rain. It was walking distance to town with a few restaurants and an ice cream shop.
Only thing was the kids couldn’t swim. We went to a beach and water was overtaken by jelly fish. Of course this is not an issue with the house. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay

Why they chose this property
Come experience the Northern Neck and relax on the water in historic Reedville, VA. Only 2.5 hrs from DC and 1.5 hours from Richmond, the Blue Crab Hideaway is located on a small peninsula off Cockrell's Creek near the Chesapeake Bay in the Northern Neck. You can see water from every room of the house! Enjoy the secluded atmosphere & many amenities such as kayaking, paddle boating, fishing/crabbing for blue crabs from our private dock. Come find your inner calm & enjoy our favorite happy place!
The Blue Crab Hideaway is a bright and colorful 2000 sq ft home located on 1 acre of land. The kitchen is fully stocked and includes all of your cooking and baking needs. There are 3 bedrooms, all recently furnished with new and modern furniture. A vintage reading room with plenty of books and board games is also available for use.
The house has high-speed internet (500 Mbps download) with no data cap, so you will be able to stream video through our Roku or any of your tablets/computers. There are no issues working remotely or doing virtual school! Also, there is a desk and chair for your virtual workstation in the master bedroom.
Additionally, the basement has been made into a game room with air hockey table, ping pong table, foosball and poker table with many more games available! Also, there are laser lights and a karaoke speaker for those fun family nights with your favorite tunes.
Restaurants (open year-round), coffee shop (coming soon) and ice cream parlor (open in the spring/summer) are within walking distance. As you walk you will be passing by some of the historical mansions that Reedville is known for.
2 well trained dogs are welcome but must be crated when you are not home.
What makes this property unique
We've been visiting the Northern Neck for years, so it's only fitting that we own a home there. There's nothing quite like getting out on a kayak, fishing, crabbing, or swimming from the private pier. If you'd like to bring your boat, we can give you directions to the closest boat ramp (which is very nice, pretty new, and close by).
