Gebhard Chalet - Charming, private, beachfront chalet nestled in a wooded dune on Lake Michigan
INSIDE THE VACATION RENTAL
This 2-and-a-half story Chalet will charm you with its soaring ceilings, 3 tier open layout, and stunning view of the lake.
On the main floor, you'll find a fully equipped kitchen, dining, and living room centered around an island counter. Dine on the expandable dining table or on the deck; both tables seat up to eight. On the lower level of the deck, a gas grill and lounge furniture look over the bank (perfect for a sunset barbecue!). The entire house has a UV Air purifying system installed which kills at least 95% of the air-born viruses.
The main floor bedroom comes with a Queen bed, remote control ceiling fan/light, and views of the lake over the deck. Across the hall, the bathroom includes a washer/dryer. Upstairs a playful loft overlooks the great room below. There are two twin beds in the loft, a queen bed in the 2nd story bedroom, and a half bath. Climb up the ladder and find the attic loft in the ceiling's peak, a delight for kids and board-gamers alike. A new emergency generator makes sure that power outages don't impact one's stay, and the Internet is provided by a new fiber optic cable. The smart TV interfaces with the new Internet service.

A comfortable house in a nice part of the state on what may be the best beach I've ever spent time on. We'd love to come back.

Eric,
Thank you for sharing your valuable feedback. We're so glad you loved the Chalet and beach as much as we do! We'd be happy to host you again in the future
Thank you!
Very clean, lovely home with a perfect location! Our family loved the private beach and spent most of the days in the water or playing in the soft sand. We had an awesome, relaxing vacation!!
Perched atop a woodsy sand dune, we had endless views of the lake and a private beach to enjoy with our family and dogs. The chalet was very clean and manicured. Loved the wood features everywhere to make you feel like you’re in nature. You are very much in the woods so expect bugs on the trip to and from the beach but the house itself was clear, the appliances seemed brand new (props to the cleaning crew) and a storm knocked out the power twice but the backup generator immediately popped on that we didn’t even notice. Overall, a great family getaway, especially if you want to get away from it all.
4 of us stayed at the Chalet, and it was plenty of space. We came for the Ironman 70.3 race, which was just down the road from the house, perfect location. It was very peaceful! Loved having our own stairs down to the beautiful beach. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking. And we took advantage of the patio table for all of our meals.
Thank you for a great stay!
This was the perfect place for a clan gathering of 7 adults from 3 states. We cooked and ate and talked — and went up and down the incredible beach stairs SO many times!! The house fit the bill for us! We all slept well here. We are already talking about coming back!
This was our second year at the Chalet and we loved our time even more. The house is beautiful, well-equipped and a great space to cook, barbecue and dine together. The beach is breathtaking. We swam endlessly, walked for miles, watched the sunsets and sunbathed to our heart's content. With family coming from MI, IL and CT this is a wonderful gathering spot to make memories and enjoy our time together. South Haven is fun too!
Coffee on our own private beach every morning was the best way to start our day. Walks along the shoreline with so many beautiful beach stones to collect and enjoy. A young eagle swooped down to the lake waters for breakfast one morning! The chalet was wonderful for our family of four and our fur baby. Great open spaces, love the natural light pouring into the space. One of our most memorable and favorite vacations. Feeling relaxed- Thank you for letting our family enjoy your restful haven on the lake!
The location and proximity to the lake beach were awesome. The house is becoming dated, not ideal for two couples because the second bedroom is up a very steep set of stairs, and only has a half-bath upstairs. The bedrooms are small. The main "great room" is small and open to the loft upstairs that has two beds - not exactly private. The furniture is dated and kitchen with average stock. No dishwasher. The check-in, communication from the management company and access to the property was great. In my opinion, this property is best suited for a small family with young children seeking a beach house experience, with less comfort. We enjoyed the beach, the peace and quiet and our time on the deck. The view of the sunset through the trees is great, but we had to wash the windows.
The photos made the property seem much bigger. There was no privacy in one of the upstairs bedrooms. Only 1 shower.
Liked the appliances. Great to have a washer and dryer. Dishes and cooking utensils were good. Great beach, but an awful lot of stairs. Deck directly behind the hose was dangerous without a railing
This property is secluded on a hill overlooking Lake Michigan. The private beach was perfect for us and our little dog. We grill and back patio were perfect. There was a deck about half way down to the beach where we watched terrific sunsets --close up and unimpeded everynight. We wanted privacy and this cozy home provided it. Also close enough to town , shopping etc when we needed something or wanted to get away and enjoy small town life and farmer's markets The house is appointed nicely for a family --we were a couple in the downstairs bedroom and our friend was upstairs. But if there had been more friends, it would have been tighter and less private. Overall, the chalet and secluded location were what we wanted—days on the beach and grilling on the back deck evenings.
The Chalet is SO clean and comfortable. Check-in and out were easy. Jaqua Realtors were easy to deal with and any questions we had were immediately answered.
The view of Lake Michigan was amazing and, oh my, those sunsets from the beach - wow! This home was beautiful and big enough for me, the hubby, and our pup. It was nicely appointed with dishes, pots & pans, etc. Nice deck area. We spent a little time on the private beach. Put our toes in Lake Michigan which is so clear and beautiful here. This home is convenient to South Haven, Saugatuck, and Holland. We had a blast exploring Warren Dunes, Saugatuck Dunes, and Indiana Dunes National Park. Oh and it's close to local wineries. This chalet is a gem!! We would love to come back and stay here again in the future!
Excellent property, great location with a couple suggestions
The property is really nice with great views, a private beach, and quiet seclusion while also a quick drive to St. Joe, South Haven, etc. The kitchen and bathrooms were well stocked and there were extras such as beach chairs and tongs for roasting marshmallows/hotdogs. However we did have one beef: please please upgrade your Roku and TV. The weather can’t always be nice and when you’re stuck inside it would be nice to be able to use something that works. The Roku was almost older than my 13 year old daughter. It honestly has a Blockbuster button (seriously!) and none of the apps worked because the unit was obsolete. The TV was small and that area of the house could use a rearranging—it was not very functional. Apart from that small detail it was truly a wonderful stay and I would definitely rent again I would just remember to bring my Roku.
The house is clean and seems to have been renovated recently. The living space worked well for us and the outside deck and grill were great. We absolutely loved the beach and being so close to Lake Michigan after renting several other less than desirable locations. It was great for our family time.
