Bed was very comfortable. Host is fantastic. Very family friendly. Close to dog park and shops. Perfect location. We had problems with the Internet and TV coming and going but I think the problem was happening across the island and possibly due to the big Internet outage that was a result of Amazon AWS issues and outages.
Check in was very simple, and there are no complicated checking out requirements. The cottage's owner is instantly responsive to any and all needs, and the house is perfectly situated close to the beach and Von's. We stay here year after year, and are always enchanted with the charm and historical background of the cottage. It is not for the fancy traveler, but it is perfect for someone who wants clean, comfortable and charming housing close to the action but still in the convenient flats of Avalon. The kitchen has all major appliances, and there is laundry.
Easy access to all Avalon has to offer. We walked to casino point to scuba dive from shore, walk to the pier to board the dive boat, and then to the marlin club for post dive cocktails.
This charming house was so perfect for our two night stay. Location is ideal, home was clean and Deborah was extremely kind and accommodating. We look forward to coming back soon.
This quirky and darling beach cottage is the perfect location. Close to the beach and near Von’s on Catalina Island. With fans on and windows open we were quite comfortable. We love this home and return to it year after year.
House is nice. The back bedroom has a mattress that is as hard as concrete. I mentioned this 2 years ago when we stayed at home and was told mattresses were new. Miscommunication somehow but made for 4 nights of rough sleep. It’s a shame because other than it being warm with no A/C it’s the perfect house for our annual trip
It was a perfect size for our stay. It was great to have rooms, a kitchen & living room to hang out in after a day at the beach. Walking distance to just about everything not far from the beach or Grocery store at all.TV was not working for us we ended up renting movies from the library.
Very close to town. Historical property with a great bit of information on the wall. Great for a family.
For the amount of the cleaning deposit I found hair in the shower & dirty floors.
I would stay ther
I can’t say enough about this place. It was such a great experience! We were just steps away from everything in Avalon. Steps away from the shops, restaurants, and harbor. I was actually shocked how easy it was to navigate around, and we had a fun time meeting some of the locals. With that being said, if you’re looking for a Ritz Carlton experience this is not the place for you. If you’re looking for an authentic experience in Catalina then I highly recommend this place. It is over 100 years old with a cozy cool beach cottage vibe. Don’t forget to read about the interesting history, which is on the wall of the entrance. It was a great trip, and I hope to come back again!
We loved our stay at Catalina Avenue. The house is just as we expected for an older beach cabin. The house was cozy but had plenty of room for us and the owner was very accommodating. The check in was super easy, with a lock box on the front door.
They do need to replace the kitchen smoke alarm; it started beeping on the day we were to leave. Also, we could not get the microwave to work.
Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable.
It is a cute house and the location was great. We are older women and not having air conditioning was a bit hard on us. Even with the open windows and fans it was not cool enough. However, had I been younger I do not think it would have been a big deal. It was nice to have two bathrooms. In the evenings after hiking and shopping around normally we like to watch TV but the house does not offer any streaming services. We could not really figure out how to make it work so that we can have a little bit of Netflix or similar. So we mostly watch regular TV channels. Overall we had a good time and certainly loved the location.

Catalina Cheap
We wanted something close to the wedding venue and did not realize since we had not been to Catalina for many years it was really close to Main St NOISY Busy streetPROS Cheaper thank most, close to grocery store, owner was quick to answer questions, beach, Catalina express all within 10 min walk. Loved the very old charm of it and it had a History plaque with good info if you like history from the 1912's CONS: NO AC, Got hot midday off a very busy street lots of other VrBO's, so everyone would walk by and totally see inside very very small and different set up for the sleeps at least 4 could be 6 if you had 2 couples. We have 2 couples a baby and a dog. Almost looked like a shotgun house. Bedroom in the back with a full bathroom and a back door so you can if need do your laundry as well and use the back entrance. Otherwise you have to walk thru the bedroom to get to the front areas Most of the lights we not working they had to add lighting. No Fan in the very small living room, NO PREMIUM TV Channels and the internet kept buffering. Hard to understand TV set up with 3 remotes NO outside lite on front porch Light Toilets not cleaned very good rust on the bottom shower had soap ceiling Refrigerator was not very cold Beds were not very comfortable. Bunkbeds on the floor writings of people who were there
