Truly magical stay at an incredible home. Communication with KM and Athena was seamless and they were very accommodating of our family, going above and beyond to make our stay welcoming and comfortable. We can’t wait to come back!
Beautiful and very private location. New AC units in bedrooms definitely helped us to sleep at night. Management team was very responsive when we needed clarification on directions to the property and a couple minor issues that came up during our stay that were promptly addressed. The kitchen may be due for a refresh but nothing that impacted our stay and we made many meals during our stay.
We had such a great vacation here. The property is so beautiful and Athena was so nice and easy to talk to if we had any questions. Thank you Athena for such a lovely vacation. We can’t wait to come back!
Further out on East End than I’ve previously stayed, but this is a very clean, nicely maintained villa in a spectacular setting. Athena was great to work with. Not for the faint of heart if you go out to eat and return after dark. We cooked in for most dinners, so it was great.
Love the East end in general, this property is worth the drive for sure, Many properties take very convenient photos for VRBO, this listing is very honest, and you get what you pay for. You can literally see one structure from the pool deck , that's it. It's very remote
The views at Estate Hansen are incredible! The house was lovely and we enjoyed seeing the hummingbirds, iguanas, and goats. The pool was a great bonus. Thank you!
We had a fun time in St John and enjoyed this great property. The house is well crafted with very comfortable high ceilings in the main living area and deck, lovely workmanship on the stone and shell walls. The outdoor shower has a window with a spectacular view! 180 degrees of ocean, this home is on a point😎
The location is a bit out of the way, but that means less tourists and traffic. The snorkeling below the house is steps away and is amazing. The house was spotless and well stocked. It was nice being able to have/bring a small cooler to the beach!
We were there during March and weather was nice. Got a little stuffy at night but other than that an memorable visit to St John’s!

Thank you Brooks for commenting on the prolific marine life. Being able to practically float on top of a well stocked aquarium is amazing.
We appreciate you taking care of the villa like your own home.
The photos in this listing do not do it justice! It is a very nice home with an incredible view. The breeze is more of a wind at this location but it definitely helped to keep us and the house cool so that was fine by us.The house has everything we needed: kitchen basics and some extras, beach and bath towels, beach chairs, a cooler, dish soap, extra paper towels and toilet paper. Directions to the property were very helpful. Driving across the island is an adventure all in itself but very worth it to find the privacy and view.
East End Seascapes is a wonder and
we had a wonderful two weeks there. The kitchen is well equipped, there was more than enough room for two of us, the views are unending. Really the only negative (which is also a positive) is that it is a long challenging ride, even from Coral Bay.
But that is mostly made up for by being able to see the sunrise from master bedroom and the sunset from the pool. Our stay will stay with us for a lovely long time.
As other reviews stated…the VIEWS are breathtaking! It was our first time staying on the East End and we enjoyed most of it. If you’re planning on lots of trips to the west end, driving can be tricky but that’s a choice. KM and Athena are awesome. Both are knowledgeable about what to do and where to go based on your interests.
The house is charming and has everything you need for a secluded get away. The local beaches are quiet with a nice variety of wildlife. I highly recommend this property and management. We are missing the sounds of the waves putting us to sleep and waking us up!
This property is a true example of million dollar view. We arrived after dark which was a daunting exercise so follow those directions closely. To wake up and experience those oceanviews with the sounds of the waves crashing.... Memories forever.
Home was clean and tidy. The neighborhood was serene. Easy drive to many top beaches and Coral Bay.
The minor detractions were WiFi is limited to certain areas of the home. And television is limited but we didn't need it, too much to explore and experience in St. John.
My wife and I celebrated our ten-year anniversary at this lovely villa overlooking the East End peninsula. Located four miles east of Coral Bay, past some hilly climbs and switchbacks, we found the area to be quiet and relaxed, much different than what we found in St Thomas and Cruz Bay on our way over. The open main floor was bright and airy with plenty of fans and cross breezes. We were at first a little concerned that there was no AC, but even the bedrooms have good breezes at night. Exiting out the screen door to the back covered porch you have a perfect vantage point to see sail boats and happy hummingbirds, and not to mention the infinity pool area below. We spent many hours just listening to the ocean waves and soaking in the rays. The property managers, Athena and Jay were incredibly personable, sweet, and helpful. They let us know about their favorite restaurants nearby, where to snorkel, where to pick up groceries, and to make sure that we closed the gate to the driveway - so we weren’t surprised by wandering donkeys and goats! 😊
We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning to St John, and hopefully the East End Seascape (if there is an opening). In the meantime, we’re going to hang on to that East End vibe!
Our stay on the east end of St. John was fantastic. The house offered us the privacy we desired and all the activities the area offers. The pool was refreshing at any hour, we spent time in it after returning from hikes in the national park and while star gazing at night. During the day, resident Iguanas didn't seem to mind sharing the pool deck with us. The ocean waves below the house crashing on the rocks were a soothing background for sleeping. Just a short five minutes away was Hansen Bay beach, which was not very crowded being it is on the east end. We enjoyed plenty of sun and ocean breezes. The highlight of our beach trip was snorkeling with sea turtles and stingrays!!
Athena was extremely helpful and accommodating. Her directions to the house were spot on. Just keep in mind you share the road with lots of goats and donkeys. Due to the weather there was an increase in biting insects and with no AC in the house, those susceptible to bug bites might be uncomfortable sleeping. The ceiling fans and floor fans helped to the keep the air moving. The house is a perfect spot for a romantic getaway or just somewhere out of the way to de-escalate from demands of daily life.
Island time awaits.
My husband and I have been coming to St John for over 15 years now. In the past we stayed on the Cruz Bay side of the island. We started gravitating towards Coral Bay more and more the past few stays. We love to hike and snorkel and be away from it all. This year we needed peace and quiet and alone time away from crowds. This villa was right on point. It was quite a drive to the other side of the island but so worth it. The roads are in need of some repair but once you reach the villa all your cares melt away. The villa was well appointed with everything we needed. The pool was a nice treat after a day of hiking and snorkeling. We love to cook so we made most of our meals right at "home" eating al fresco overlooking the ocean. Athena was easy to communicate with although we never had any issues during our stay. Cell service can be spotty though. If you're looking for peace and quiet and the sound of waves to lull you to sleep this is your place. If you're looking for a place to walk to dinner and bars you should stay on the Cruz Bay side. Definitely be prepared to rent a jeep. We will look no further when we need to stay on St John again. We have found our home away from home at East Side Seascape.
We enjoyed our stay at East End Seascape even though it was one of the hottest weeks in our hosts' memory.
The views and remote location are perfect if you love the sound of the sea and want to get away from it all. The house is clean and has much of what you need.
The pool and snorkeling at the association pebble beach are great, and many amazing beaches are reachable in 5-20 min drive --definitely by 4WD.
The hosts did a good job reaching out to make sure we found the place, but we did have a couple of miscommunications. Overall, friendly and gracious.
2 things to be aware of...
1. We visited in the first week of June and there was a heat advisory for the entire week.
No A/C.
The hosts provide floor fans and there are ceiling fans, & prevailing winds helped keep the air moving. However, if you are sensitive to the heat and get weather as warm and humid as us, sleeping could be a challenge. I only mention because none of the other reviews did. Maybe an outlier? Research it.
2. Because of the remote location and the multiple legs of getting to St. John (connecting flights, ferry, drive), there is a good chance of arriving in the dark, and finding the place is a challenge. Directions are provided and are accurate, but they are written in paragraph form that isn't easy to read in the dark and cell service is spotty making phone navigation a near impossible. I suggest that the hosts provide bullet point directions and clocking the distances of land marks.
Great home!
Many other houses to choose from with great views. This is not the one!!
After multiple attempts to contact the host regarding beaches in the area and ultimately access to the house, we finally heard back as we were getting on the Ferry in St. Thomas informing us that the house was open without any directions or warnings of the treacherous drive (especially close to the house). The house has no identifiable marks and we made the mistake of driving past the house to another where it was impossible to turn around with a cliff on one side of the one lane road. We had to back two rental cars 100 yards in the dark. It is not easy to find at all and can be dangerous at night. The house was not clean when we arrived. The kitchen was outdated with dirty appliances. We spent the first day cleaning the house. The host then charged us $150 for "stained" bath towels that needed to be replaced anyway and said she would "waive the extra cleaning fee". We cleaned the house top to bottom before we left, leaving it far cleaner than when we arrived. This was a family vacation before our girls go off to college. In hindsight we should not have stayed at this house and in the future we will never stay here again. It was a beautiful view, but honestly there are many beautiful rentals to choose from with great views that are more convenient and easier to navigate. We cleaned the house top to bottom when we got there and and the host "waived" the extra cleaning fee out of "Good will?" and charged us for bath towels that need to be replaced anyway. Not worth it!
We truly enjoyed our vacation to the East End Seascape, views are amazing no matter which way you look! Has a very relaxing vibe! Thank you for sharing your house with us!
