Gateway to Outdoor Adventure in the Keweenaw! - Dog Friendly & MTU 2.3 miles!

The Miner is beautifully remodeled, and centrally located in historic Hancock MI. The the famed Jack Stevens snowmobile trail #17 is located directly across the street, offering easy access to hundreds of miles of groomed trails taking you across Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

We provide easy access to Houghton (1.6 miles), Michigan Tech (2.3 miles), Finlandia University (.3 miles), and historic Calumet is only 13.8 miles away.

Please note that we are located along Lincoln St (US41) and the snowmobile trail. I would hate to lose your business because of it, but I would rather make sure you are happy with your stay. If you are a very light sleeper, other accommodations might be better suited for your needs. If want to be in the middle of everything, I have no doubt that you will love it!

We appreciated this little home in a convenient location to visit with family and friends nearby. It was extremely clean, comfortable, well-equipped, and homey. We hiked the Keweenaw, discovered new places, and revisited old favorites. Loved the copper vibe. Fred is an excellent host, friendly and readily available. Looking forward to our next stay!

We came to the Keeeenaw to visit our granddaughter at MTU and to tour the area after several years away. We chose The Miner as it was across the street from places we knew from the past and convenient to places we planned to travel. The hosts have provided a charming renovated apartment with easy access to main streets. It had all we needed for a very comfortable stay. Communications were prompt and accommodating. When we locked ourselves out, the property manager arrived within minutes to rescue us. The 4 star on location is only because it is on a busy street as noted in the description. We knew exactly where it was and were good with the location, but it is definitely not for everyone.

MTU visit

Stayed here for our recent MTU visit. Super clean and warm for our January trip. Onsite parking is easy. Great location, nice restaurant across the street and close to downtown Hancock. The Miner’s decor was super cool with the local copper mining history. Will stay again.

We continue to graduate our progeny from nearby MTU, and The Miner has become a favorite place to stay to help celebrate the accomplishment.Always clean, easy to get to, effortless to stay. Everything we can hope for in an area with limited hotel/motel rooms. This time both grandmas traveled with us and they appreciated the one story layout, easy egress and mining-themed decorations!

Winter Trip

Great little place to stay that comes with everything you could imagine. The accommodation was super clean and cozy. Superb location in Hancock and not too far from MTU. Theres a great restaurant across the street and you get a great view of the snowmobile trails!

Great Holiday Stay

We stayed with our family, including a baby over Christmas. The place was just as expected. It was clean, had a nice pack and play and was spacious. We really enjoyed our stay and the home had everything we needed and expected. It was an easy and comfortable stay:)

Wonderful place!

We didn’t spend much time at the cabin but had everything we needed and more. The beds were comfy and all the decor is so cute. We loved it and would rent again. The road is a little noise starting at and 5:30am.

Amazing stay

Stayed here as our home base for a UP snowboarding trip. Loved all the miner and up north decor. Super clean. Everything was new and beautiful. Could not have asked for a better location. Amazing stay. Will be back!

Maria and I each served in the Air & Space Forces for over 20 years and we started Copper County Vacation Rentals with the main goal of providing our guests with clean, comfortable and relaxing adventures. As we return to the Keweenaw full-time we will continue to provide amazing lodging, but we will also look to enhance our experience packages.

This Miner is tastefully decorated to pay tribute to the area's rich mining culture. The large parking area, and proximity to the famed Jack Steven Trail (across the street!) make it a great location for snowmobiling, offroading and accessing nature.
