LAKE GOGEBIC – From LakeGogebic.com
“Lake Gogebic, Michigan’s largest inland lake, lies at the far western end of the Upper Peninsula. With abundant opportunities for fishing, hiking, hunting, camping, and winter sports, Lake Gogebic is a four-season vacation gem that – for all its attractions – retains the peaceful atmosphere of a small Northwoods community, untroubled by traffic and crowds.
Lake Gogebic’s 13,380 acres of prime fishing water teem with walleye, smallmouth bass, northern pike, jumbo perch and whitefish, providing both catches for the novice and challenges for the veteran angler. The surrounding forests offer prime hunting for deer, bear, small game and birds.
Families, couples, and outdoor sports enthusiasts will enjoy Lake Gogebic’s summer hot spots for water sports, camping, sightseeing and hiking the surrounding timberland. The area is full of historic sites and natural beauty. Wildflowers and wildlife are everywhere in spring and summer, the autumn colors are spectacular, and winters are as white and still as one can only imagine. Waterfalls abound – with some hidden deep in the woods, and others easily accessible from town. Honeymooners will enjoy searching out the more remote falls, while families will appreciate that Lake Superior’s shores are but a short drive away.
With an annual snowfall of nearly 300 inches, Lake Gogebic is situated on perhaps the best snowmobile trail system in the country, extending throughout the Upper Peninsula. Cross country ski trails provide quieter passage through the woods, meanwhile five major downhill ski / snowboarding facilities are less than a hour’s drive away. And for those seeking a truly unique winter sport experience, many local businesses rent snowshoes.”

We had a wonderful stay at Porters Pointe. The house was very cozy and comfortable! Bea was a very accommodating and responsive host and we would definitely stay here again!
The cabin was very clean and set up well for families or groups. There was plenty of comfortable seating/couches and dining areas in both the the main level and in the walk out lower level. The beds were comfortable, kitchen well- equipped. The owners provided very clear info, making arrival and departure easy- and were responsive when we had a wuestion prior to our trip. We love Lake Gogebic and the area.
This is the second time staying here, that’s what brought us back! Great accommodation, greats views, and great hosts! Would recommend to anyone who wants a cozy cabin, with plenty of room for everyone!

We had a great experience and even better stay. The owners were timely in response and did a great job checking in. Very nice place to stay just if the trail and on the lake. Highly recommended you won’t be disappointed.
