Fishing details/Whitewater Rafting details: A glance at any map reveals a number of bodies of water ranging in size from Moosehead Lake to ponds of only a few acres. Some waters are easily accessed by car while others require some hiking and carrying. Among the popular species are bass, perch, trout, salmon, and togue. If this is your first time fishing in the Moosehead area, we recommend the use of a guide. Basic fishing outfits can be purchased from several stores in town. Be sure that you have a license and an up-to-date fishing regulation book. . . Then if you are up for something with more action - Experience whitewater rafting!!Each year thousands of paddlers challenge the whitewater of the Kennebec, Penobscot and Dead Rivers. With the Moosehead Lake Region situated between these premier whitewater rivers, the area is a perfect spot for the river enthusiast to stay. Outfitters provide you with everything needed for a fun, safe trip.

Hunting Details/ Scenic Flying Experience: The Moosehead Lake region offers many exciting opportunities for hunters of all ages. Our region teems with wildlife and affords hunters a vast amount of terrain in which to spend a few hours, a day or a week. Some popular species of animals to hunt include partridge, rabbit, deer, bear and moose. Each of these has a specific legal hunting season and set of regulations, which can be found at the website for the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. If this is your first time to the Moosehead area, we recommend the use of a guide. . . .Since much of the Moosehead Lake shoreline and many sporting camps are not accessible by road, seaplanes get quickly where motor vehicles and boats cannot. Two commercial air services offer sightseeing excursions. A half-hour flight around the lower half of the lake is a good way to appreciate the vastness of both lake and wilderness. Currier's Flying Service or Folsom's Flying Service, both will offer you a scenic flying experience!

Snowmobiling details: You have access to The Moosehead Lake Snowmobile Trail from the front yard of the Loon's Nest cabin. This trail climbs up to lofty overlooks, passes through deep forests, stops at outposts like Kokadjo, Northeast Carry, Seboomook, and Pittston Farm, and Greenville, never too many miles from food and fun.
Five local clubs, town employees and many volunteers keep these trails in great condition. Whether you want to take just a morning or afternoon trip or spend all day on the trails, your choices are many. Pack a lunch and stop at any number of locations with beautiful scenery; or plan to ride to one of the surrounding towns and enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner at one of the areas restaurants or inns that cater to snowmobilers.

Host profile image
My name is Lisa Sandberg and I am a nurse at a small community hospital in the emergency room. I recently discovered a hidden talent for painting. Charlie is my husband of 37 years. He is a retired police officer. He also happens to be very good at building things. He built the log cabin in 2001 and in 2007 he built us a new 3500 sq ft home in Connecticut. I am a very lucky lady to be married to such a talented man. Charlie has the gift of gab. No one remains a stranger for long around him.

Why they chose this property

Our next door neighbors here in Connecticut introduced us to Maine about 30 years ago. The 1st couple of years we camped with them at Camp Seboomek. But they got tired of hauling all their equipment every trip so they started looking for a small place to buy. They found a cute little place on the Moose River and we continued to stay with them for several more years.

One day Charlie was looking for a boat to buy, and Mark from the marina told him he had a boat for sale and, oh by the way, he also had a piece of land he would throw in. The time was right, the price was right and so before you know it we owned the boat and 2 acres of land. Charlie sold the boat to pay for the foundation! and the rest is history!
