We have stayed before at the Ilikai. We liked the location and property. We were hesitant to stay at this unit because of its rating. We should have chosen a better rated property. Management did promptly respond to a request for new patio chairs as 4 of 6 were dangerous to sit in. But it just showed the lack of care for the unit. The view is the only thing the unit has going for it.
fine place Suggestion: there was a loose board on th lanai that could fall and hurt a child It's by the ac. The venetian type blinds on the windows need repair/replacement. Great views, good stay

Ilikai condo
Spacious condominium with magnificent view of harbor, Marina, and Ocean to the Southwest. This building has exceptionally large lanai’s allowing lots of room to sit and enjoy the view. Although, very noisy on Friday-Sunday evenings from traffic, activity, and loud music on the street between the hotel and the marina. The kitchen is adequately supplied to cover most needs and appear newly renovated. The condominium could definitely use maintenance and a very thorough cleaning, however. There is a very musty smell from A/C units in both rooms. The interior of the condominium is dinged up and could do with drywall repair and paint. The Master bath door sticky and hard to get out of and the Second Bathroom door is held together with screws. This Condo is certainly more cost effective than a hotel room and the items above are why.

Aloha — I’m sorry to hear that you did not share the 5-star experience that our guests who have stayed before and after you have, although I understand that no two experiences are alike and expectations vary. It is important to us that our units are clean and presentable for our guests, and the feedback you provided has helped our team to address these issues. Although the photos provided in the listing of this vacation property are accurate in reflecting the space and the furnishings in it, we would have been responsive to the issues you were experiencing, to ensure your stay was comfortable, if not pleasurable. Rest assured, your feedback back is welcomed, and your concerns have been addressed and remedied for the benefit of future guests. Respectfully, Mark G.H. Property Manager
We really like Illikai, 2nd time staying at the hotel, and1st time specifically in this condo. Very convenient location, we bussed to Waikiki when needed, and it is very close to 2 beaches (5 and 15 minute walks respectively). The sunset views from the patio are incredible. There's also plenty of space for 6 people. Pool is okay. Plenty of bath and beach towels. Cons: In general, the condo was very clean but the floor was dusty, we mopped the place so no big deal. The bathroom in the bedroom had a peculiar smell (like wet laundry), there was no fan to air it out. The blinds fell off very easily and the sliding door panel looked a little raggedy, so we never used it. There was no dust pan or vacuum to help with sand removal. The internet was a little spotty, kept getting disconnected but we had hotspot during downtime.
Directions into the building were minimal. We parked in the suggested "self-park" garage and took the little walkway over the street and into the building. We immediately found the elevators and rode up to the 5th floor looking for our unit. Imagine our surprise when our unit number didn't exist on the 5th floor. We finally realized that the parking garage does not connect to our building, but instead, we have to walk through a building and an outdoor bar and some patio area in order to reach our building. After a full day of travel we were tired and a little grumpy by this point. We got to our room and the door code instructions didn't work. We called the local contact number and got a voicemail that was full so we couldn't even leave a message. We tried calling the security number that was also on the check-in instructions but the man who answered did not have a clue and just kept asking me if I was in the building and if I could please come downstairs. We tried the local contact number again and got voicemail full again. Finally, my husband left me and the kids standing in the hall outside our unit and went downstairs to try and figure out how to get into the unit. It was 4:30 on Friday afternoon so I was getting nervous about the local contact being off-duty for the weekend and not being able to get in. I tried calling one more time and actually got an answer. He told me that someone had forgotten to change the code and gave me the code for the previous people and we were finally able to get into our unit. Inside the unit was clean and had a spectacular view out the wall to wall windows on the ocean side. Although the windows did have hanging, vertical blinds to block out some of the BRIGHT sun, I would say about 30% of them were missing so it was very bright in the unit. The walls were all bare - no art or décor at all. There were two twin beds in the livingroom area and my kids said they were comfortable enough but they would have liked to have full blinds to block the light. There is a folding wall that can accordion in/out to provide a little privacy for the twin beds but it was coming apart. We did not pull it all the way out because I didn't want to break it further. There was a king bed in the bedroom area that was also "fine". We did not cook in the unit so I can't speak to the quality or quantity of kitchen items. Great location, close to beach and restaurants.
Enjoy the property, the large patio was very nice the view was great! Close walk to the beach.

Roaches, roaches, roaches.
Do you want to share your space with roaches? If so, this is the place for you. The place looks like the pictures, but it's just not maintained. It's run down and not comfortable. The roaches were the worst part. First night, a roach crawled up the wall behind the couch. Ugh!! It's the busiest week in Hawaii--no other places to go for our family of four! This sucks, but we were there celebrating our 20 year anniversary and the new year--so we made the most of it. The next day, more roaches--running across the floor in the bedroom near our luggage (please don't let any of them come home with us!!), in the kitchen near the small appliances, from behind the kitchen sink on the counter, running across the counter, etc. (no way we can even think about using the kitchen!). Very disappointing. We paid a lot of money for 4 nights. We expected the place to be clean and comfortable. That's not asking too much. We took photos and videos but I can't upload them (email if you want me to share with you: janine.nkosi@gmail.com). I want others to know about our experience, so you can make an informed decision about where to stay on your vacation. If you're looking for something in a great location, that could use some much-needed upgrades on the blinds, etc. and you don't mind roaches, then go for it. Our family has a zero tolerance for pests. Absolutely disgusting. When we look back on our 20 year celebration trip, it really sucks that this will be a part of our memories, but we made the most of it and spent as much time as we could outside of our room.

Aloha Janine,
Every one of our properties have scheduled and maintained quarterly pest control treatments after professional cleaning. There is a possibility a pest control visit to the condo was just completed which may have stirred up some activity or even a neighboring condo getting treatment done that could possibly bring up 1 or 2 bug visits. Rest assured this is not normal and it's very surprising to read this review. Hopefully the memories of your 20 year trip slowly get better..
In the future.. let us know of any activity and we will have someone come out pronto to resolve the situation.
