About this property

Mount Tom House: a storybook escape in Oregon's Willamette Valley - pet friendly

Step onto the grounds of Mount Tom House - an Oregon forest retreat - & the pines stretch out around you, offering open space + a chance to slow down. Trails wind through 120 acres of protected woods, koi glide lazily in ponds, and sunlight spills across the two-story library where stained glass catches the morning light. Whether you’re enjoying coffee in a nook, wandering the forest trails, or gathering friends & family for a celebration, Mount Tom is a space to relax, connect, & make memories.

Mount Tom House was built over fifty years ago by a circle of friends who wanted more than houses — they built homes, families, and a community: Ahimsa (a Sanskrit word meaning non-harm and respect for all living beings). That spirit still lingers in the laughter around an evening fire on the patio, the hot tub under the stars, and quiet moments when all you hear is the wind through the trees.

Whether you’re planning a family retreat, graduation weekend, milestone celebration, or a forest escape just for yourselves, Mount Tom House is whimsical yet lived-in, warm yet surprising — a space that invites connection, reflection, and joy.

TWO WAYS TO STAY
1) Mount Tom House as a VRBO: Mount Tom House is entirely yours. With six bedrooms, a full kitchen, and generous living spaces, it’s perfect for family getaways, group retreats, or any Oregon adventure with friends. Mount Tom House operates as a bed & breakfast and events space most of the year: enjoy our property as a VRBO with thoughtfully curated & intentional touches.

2) Bed & Breakfast Experience: For a more curated stay, enjoy breakfast each morning, attentive hosts, and optional event hosting. This choice blends the comforts of a home with the thoughtful touches of a boutique B&B. This is our wheelhouse.

Wonderful spot for a family reunion! Communication from the hosts was phenomenal. The house is remote, but very well appointed. The six bedrooms provided plenty of comfortable sleeping options for our multi-generational group. The kitchen and outdoor grill area had everything we needed to prepare meals during our entire stay. The kids enjoyed the pool. Nice property for walking and getting away from the city for a few days, but still only 20-30 minutes drive to market and other activities. Would definitely stay again!! Thank you, Juli.

Beautiful Property and Amazing Home

We all thoroughly enjoyed every unexpected and wonderful aspect of staying at this beautiful home and cannot wait to stay here again. The owners are amazing, super attentive and friendly and helpful. I can’t say enough about the hone. We loved the library and the stained glass in the dining room and the porch swing. Next time we will def bring our sheet music bc we weren’t expecting a piano! Truly a wonderful place in beautiful country to get away and relax for a while. Highly recommend!

Best property ever

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Juli and Craig and the Mount Tom House. We booked it for our family to stay together while celebrating my daughter's graduation from U of O. Juli's communication from day one was amazing. The property itself is stunning and had something for everyone. The house and grounds are immaculate and it had absolutely everything we could ever need. Juli was so gracious offering us anything we needed and was available at a moment's notice. We have stayed at many VRBOs over the years and this one was the best. I cannot recommend this property enough, especially for family get togethers. The remote location, far from being inconvenient, made it so our family wanted to stay together instead of running off to do something else. We have already been trying to figure out how to stay there again! Absolutely wonderful and made our celebration perfect. Thank you Juli and Craig and Mount Tom House!

Wonderful family vacation home

Mt Tom house is a big, beautiful home, suitable for either larger family gatherings, or a couple's getaway. There are two primary bedrooms (en suite bathroom) and 4 bedrooms that share two full baths (there are two wings, each with a primary bedroom and two more bedrooms and the shared bathroom). All of the bedrooms had comfortable beds, and are nicely decorated. The house has a number of different, separate rooms for spreading out. One family room with the TV, a library, and a main living room/dinning room area. Kitchen is great for cooking, huge amount of counter space for prep, a great oven and stove. This kitchen would be great for groups that like to cook (we made prime rib and all the rest for NYE). The owners are very responsive and care about your stay, but otherwise give you privacy (they live on the property). The property is gorgeous, private, and secure (we let kids play as they like). Weather was not good enough to do hiking when we were there, but when drier, hiking would be great! We paid to heat the pool up (we stayed over New Years), and had a great time. The pool is huge, not deep (so safe for kids) and has a hot tub. Being covered allowed us to play in the pool even when it was raining. Highly recommend for a disconnect-vacation in nature.

About the host

Hosted by Juli Accurso

Host profile image
Craig is the ideator and first had the seed to start on this adventure! For the past decade, he has run been a professional marathoner while also the University of Oregon Warsaw Sports Marketing MBA program director. Recently, he's also added Mount Tom House general contractor to his resume and has been the lead on almost all projects and renovations!

Juli has a background in language teaching and has had an itch to open a bed & breakfast after working at a bed & breakfast in Southern France through WWOOF (Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms). She ran competitively in college and continues to jolly jog now.

We saw Mount Tom House as a unique and memorable space for families and friends to gather, businesses to host events and corporate retreats, couples to get married and celebrate life events, and eventually the perfect spot to host all-inclusive adult running retreats in Tracktown, USA.

Why they chose this property

Since the beginning, the Mount Tom House was built on the tenants of community and camaraderie. A group of friends in their 20s set up shop here on Mount Tom and helped one another raise kids and build homes.

Community and camaraderie gets at the heart of what we believe in and hope to provide! We've spent the last two years updating this 7,000sqft family home for travelers to enjoy.
