About the host
Hosted by Marah Rhoades and Elizabeth Enschede
We are two sisters, Marah and Liz, with childhood roots in Vermont and have returned with our four children and husbands to create this gorgeous family home where we look forward to welcoming other families who want to enjoy the beauty of southern Vermont. We both live in Brooklyn, NY within walking distance of each other. Liz is a family practice physician in Brooklyn married to an architect. Marah is a government official married to an entertainment attorney. We each have two children and "share" one large, fluffy, happy dog.
Why they chose this property
For years we have enjoyed summers in Vermont with our father at his small house in northern Vermont. Our kids have spent summers exploring the woods behind their grandfather's house. For many years we have wanted to create a family home where we can all gather comfortably, where our kids who are being raised in NYC can explore and enjoy the outdoors the way we did when we were children. We needed something closer to NYC with plenty of space to spread out and bring friends. After years of looking for the perfect space in the perfect location, we found Stonehedge Farm. We fell in love with this amazing property the moment we walked through the door. The sprawling floor plan has plenty of space and lots of room for large families or groups of friends to both spread out and to come together. The multiple common areas offer quiet space, play space and group space. The kids can be loud in the family room, some adults can be playing music or watching a game in the main living room in front of the fire, while others can be quietly reading in the back sitting room. The house feels secluded and cozy, but is on a paved road so it's never hard to access no matter what the weather. The rooms are cozy and bright, and there are beautiful views from every room. We both wake up each day in this house in disbelief that we found the property of our dreams.
What makes this property unique
This property is easily accessible to both Boston and New York City in under 4 hours. The activities in this area are year round with lakes, mountains for hiking and skiing, snow boarding, hunting, and lovely restaurants and shops in Wilmington. And while you feel secluded on the farm, you are close to everything you could want in town, up at the ski mountain as well as just footsteps up the road to hikes and walks. You can leave the house and take a stunning 7 mi run, or traipse through the woods or just sit out in back and enjoy the sun set over the green hills of Vermont. The clean fun is endless.
