Our group of 5 ( and two dogs) had an amazing weekend stay! Great location and the huge porch to have coffee/breakfast was lovely!
Hope to be back soon!
Tom's cabin was perfect for our group that was in town for a wedding. The kitchen was great for making breakfast and hanging out on the patio was exactly what we needed for seating and enjoying the outdoors. The rooms were comfortable and we all slept great. Would stay here again next time we're visiting the Lake Almanor area!
Everything you could need and more. Host goes above and beyond for comfort and ease. Spacious,
Clean, convenient location. Easy instructions and a beyond generous hospitality of extra bedding, fans, games, and enjoyable kitchen needs and more than ‘needs’. Best Vrbo I’ve stayed at
The home is in a convenient, quiet location. The house had all of the necessary amenities and extras that make for a hassle-free stay, which was great. The deck was a nice place to BBQ and hang out. Everything was very clean. All-in-all a great house and a very nice stay.
The house met all our needs with comfortable beds, fully equipped kitchen, great living space. The owner was wonderful with checkins prior to our stay, accomodating any question. The instructions for use are very clear and easy to do. We all said we would come back here if we visited Lake Almanor again.
This is our 2nd time staying here. I just love the vibe. They have it decorated in 50s-60s cabin-style including retro-looking appliances in the kitchen. Lots of room for everyone and a big deck for eating and entertaining. And it stays cool because of all the shade. Owner is very accommodating and responsive.
Golf weekend, 5 stayed at the house and loved it. Each of them bugged me to book it for next year's weekend. Others in our group of 24 golfers wanted in too. But with only 5 beds, there's only 5 in the house. This house had everything we could ask for. What a great stay!
It was everything we hoped for. It was very comfortable. I only wish it had been winter so we could have a fire in the beautiful, fireplace. The furnishings and decor were extremely nice. Everything was perfect. We also made use of the large deck. We would definitely rent this property again.
Cabin is in a great location with a cute vintage vibe. Really appreciated the extra welcome touches and binder with recommendations. Huge bedrooms with plenty of room for a group or family. For the most part it had all of the essentials we needed, we wish it had more cooking supplies like olive oil and spices but we made it work with what they had. We never found information on the community beach as shown in the listing but with a baby and colder weather we ended up not needing it. Overall a great experience and cute place to stay!
There was not lake acess with out walking threw someone’s property to get to the lake.
Great home with well stocked kitchen wear. My only wish to make it a five star rating was no walk way to the lake. You have to drive 2 miles to the marina and that doesn’t have any easy shore access to the lake either.
Great Cabin on beautiful street with views of the lake!
The hosts go above and beyond in welcoming their guests. Adorable cabin, thoughtful amenities, nicely stocked with kitchen and bath basics and and a fun home interior.
The communication with the owners is seamless with prompt and effective communication.
Thank you!!
I don't think the photos do it justice. They have done such a great job of decorating their cabin with many throw-backs to the 50s & 60s to include modern appliances that look like they came out of your grandma's kitchen! And the fact that it's surrounded by trees keeps the place really cool. All beds are comfy and there's room for a large family with extra beds in each room upstairs. The only reason I gave a rating of less than 5 stars to location is because there is no walking distance access to a beach, but it didn't bother us. We drove to Big Cove and rented a party barge and spent time over there. We really enjoyed our stay!
We had a fabulous time. The house was just as described - Very clean and had plenty of supplies for our 2 week stay. Kim was super-helpful when we had a glitch with the wifi (the wifi in the mountains isn’t great anywhere). The boat ramp beach access down the road was perfect for us with our paddle boards. Would absolutely stay again.
Very responsive host. Many "extras" like a welcoming bottle of wine, and we loved the comfortable bed and the time hanging out on the deck. The lake access was a little further away than we expected, but we found lots of ways to enjoy our time at the lake!
This was a business trip but how relaxing on our time off. The owners are a delight and were so helpful. The place was very clean and they came in and cleaned every 2 weeks as we requested. If you want a GREAT place to stay, please book it here, You won't regret it.
It's a beautiful place, we loved it, very well decorated, very cute. We plan to stay again next year.

About the host
Hosted by Tom Wilder
Tom and Donna live in Chico with their two dogs, Oliver and Maylie, and cat Dodger. Tom will soon retire from teaching at Chico State, and Donna retired a few years ago. We love working on houses and have a few rental properties in Chico.
Why they chose this property
We purchased this house because we wanted a place at the lake to escape the Chico heat. Turns out it was listed on VRBO and we thought "why not continue with it?" The house has a nice cozy feel to it and with the original log walls on the main floor it lends itself to a feeling of original cabin living in the summer. Our dogs love the fact that they can take us for a walk out the back gate, and get to do that many times per day. We have always had dogs, and know it can be tough to find dog friendly places, so we want to welcome your fur kids too.
What makes this property unique
This property is on a very quite street, and has a filtered view of the lake. The cozy cabin feel is thanks to Donna's decorating, and a well equipped kitchen is thanks to Tom enjoying cooking.
