About the host

Host profile image
We enjoy restoring The Carlinville Grand and sharing her story with our guests. We bought this 1904 home in 2019 and converted it to a vacation rental in 2020. Carlinville landed in our lives when our oldest child attended Blackburn College. Hospitality is an art we enjoy extending and of which we have always been appreciative. Welcome to our unique Victorian guest house.

Why they chose this property

Steeped in history and poised right on the iconic Route 66, downtown Carlinville harkens back to an era of gentrification where trains and automobiles brought goods and services to the prairies. Just two blocks from The Carlinville Grand is Hawthorne coffee house, restaurants, antique shops, thrift shops, a great florist and of course the "Million Dollar Courthouse". A short drive takes you to the Amtrak station. Nearby sites are Beaver Dam, Bloom's Orchard and several wineries.

What makes this property unique

This unique Victorian home, including the sweeping veranda, spacious back yard, fitness and game rooms, formal dining room, parlor and living rooms bestow a sense of gentility and comfort. There are security cameras at both entrances. The house is only a half mile from Blackburn College and about 2 blocks from the charming Carlinville square with a coffee house, antique store and restaurants.
