Charming 100-Year-Old Lake House on Pristine Mountain Lake -Your Perfect Retreat
Located atop local mountains and across from a state forest, Arnold's Lake has been a haven for families for well over 100 years. Our 2 bedroom cabin sleeps 5 comfortably and is all original. One of the first on the lake. The lake is clear, the view unreal, and the peace just what most of us are looking for.
This house is much as it was in the early twentieth century. It still has a quaint simple feel from an era long gone. There is a large porch to rock on, a great dock to sit and share coffee or a swim, a grill, a firepit (lots of wood provided), and the closeness to nature (lovely outdoor shower) that will linger long on your mind and soul.
If you are looking for something out of the ordinary from a more straightforward day and time, you have found it. Bring your binoculars and enjoy the Osprey, Bald Eagles, and fabulous fishing!
Both Baseball parks are within a 15-minute drive.

It brought us back in time to when we spent childhood summers in a real camp. This had many thoughtful touches and was preserved in the original as much as possible.
Loved everything about this historic gem.
Classic little cabin for a lake getaway. Covered porch with lake view perfect for morning coffee and dinner. Just-right sized lake to do a circuit in the kayaks—we saw loons and a bald eagle—and walk the lake loop road. We stayed cool even during a heatwave. Nice welcoming touches and great communication and suggestions. Would stay there again!
Beautiful, picturesque setting. perfect place to unwind, relax and rejuvenate. Owners were super accessible and even came and helped us with the grill and getting another boat out for us to enjoy
The house is stacked with anything you may need Perfect spot to attend cooperstown baseball tournaments. We could have stayed in the rocking chairs on the porch all day and night. Thank you for the wonderful stay
The cabin is very clean, with a nice porch on the lake. Coffee in the morning on the lake was quite nice. There is an outdoor shower which is private and the hot water comes on quickly. The water inside is not potable, and there are obvious signs not to drink it. The hosts provide drinking water. They also provide lots of snacks/coffee/toothbrushes and other amenities you may need. Electric outlets are somewhat sparse but manageable.
While others in the Baseball Tournament mostly stayed in Cooperstown area hotels, we felt extremely blessed to enjoy this idyllic property. Rustic, yes, but very comfortable and warm inside for this time of year. Would stay here again!
We spent a long weekend at this lovely cottage at the end of September and were so happy with our choice. The cottage is simple and rustic, but that is exactly what we were looking for and it was just the perfect size for our family group of my husband and me and our daughter and son-in-law. (There is also a futon and an air mattress, so more people certainly could have stayed too.) It was wonderful to wake up each morning in the front bedroom to the sun rising over the lake and then spend the day on the porch or deck, enjoying the lake, which is absolutely pristine and so quiet. Our daughter and son-in-law enjoyed swimming and paddle boating. The living room has a gas-fired stove, which was nice in the early morning and in the cooler fall temps at night. The kitchen is incredibly well stocked with every pot, pan, utensil you could need for any meal, and a full-size gas stove and oven, roomy full fridge, etc. We used the outdoor grill one evening, and later enjoyed a great fire in the fire pit for several hours. Plenty of firewood available, and complimentary s'mores makings. The outdoor shower was refreshing—plenty of hot water and just steps away from the cottage, very private, under a beautiful tree canopy. We arrived on a very rainy afternoon, and were grateful for Michele's recommendations for places nearby in Oneonta to have a cozy lunch and buy local farm produce. Thanks so much, Michele! We hope to return one day.
This property was amazing. It was peaceful, quiet and had everything needed for a lovely family getaway. Michelle was helpful and came out to make sure we had boats ready for paddling. It is rustic, there is little to no cell service. That was perfect.
Had an amazing stay at Michele’s property. The camp was everything explained on the listing. Very clean and cozy. Very clean lake with great views. Would high recommend and will be booking again in the near future.
We had a fabulous time. Plenty of amenities for fun on the lake.

Our new happy place!
From the moment we walked in, we loved it. The cabin was rustic yet quaint with everything we needed. It was nice to disconnect from the hustle and bustle and reconnect with family time; no tv, no internet, no interruptions. We spent hours on the porch enjoying the serenity of the lake, fishing from the dock (our kids caught hundreds throughout the week and the lake is crystal clear), kayaking, row boating and just enjoying nature. The home is fully stocked with dishes and disposable goods, life jackets, fishing rods too. The kitchen has a full size refrigerator, hot plate, microwave, toaster oven all perfect for cooking breakfast and a gas grill. Birds hatched in the outdoor shower, we made friends with the chipmunk who would scamper across the porch, our baseball player and team brought home the championship which topped the cake. Our trip to New York and Arnold Lake is hands down one of our most memorable family vacations to date!

wonderful cabin on a beautiful little lake. Very peaceful!!
Quaint and very clean cabin on beautiful Arnold Lake. We were very pleased with our stay. The cottage had everything we needed, but be warned that it is minimalistic....and has no internet, TV, and only spotty phone service (which is just what we were looking for!). The entire house was very clean and truly charming. The bedrooms and bathroom are upstairs and are all only separated by partial walls (open at the very top and bottom), so best for folks who are very comfortable with each other. Michelle was an attentive and accommodating hostess, and was very easy to work with. We would highly recommend this cottage, and are already planning our next stay there.

Amazing get-a-way from it all!
This little cabin has the utmost charm of an original 1920's lake cabin. Our host Bobbie, greeted us the day we arrived with all the details of the cabin. The porch was the highlight in the sun, the rain, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Its a quiet area, the lake is clean and fantastic to swim in, fish or paddle on. I had a great stay and would definitely return!

About the host
Hosted by Steve Roese
We are a local family of five siblings that own the lake home together. The place has been in the family for more than 30 years. As diverse as can be, we are a business owner, construction manager, a farmer, a pastor and a professor. We have 10 children between us. We are fortunate to spend many summer days together cooking, fishing, hiking, and rocking on the porch.
Why they chose this property
The lake house was originally purchased by our mother as a place where we could all come together in the summers. Her dream was to make this cabin a place where many memories were made, and that would be passed down for generations to come. We are working on both the memory-making and the passing down for generations.
What makes this property unique
Simple, connected to the land and the lake. This is what most of us dream of when we think about a Northeast lake place. We happen to be fortunate to own it and love sharing with others.
