Lakefront cottage on first basin of Lake James. Dock, sandy bottom, great sunset

This lakefront cottage is for rent on the first basin of Lake James, one of Indiana's most beautiful sports lakes. This cottage is fully furnished with three bedrooms and one and a half baths along with an outdoor shower. The three small bedrooms [two with full-sized beds, one with a set of twin beds] and half bath are located upstairs. The living room downstairs has a full-sized pull-out couch. The front sunroom has two day beds with windows all around for enjoying beautiful Lake James sunsets. The cottage sleeps a total of 6-8 adults. The living room has high-speed internet and TV / DVD. There are remote control air conditioning units throughout the cottage. The kitchen is well-equipped with coffee maker, blender and microwave along with adjoining table area. The cottage also includes an outdoor gas grill for barbecuing, a large ground level patio with lakeside yard for games. The naturally sandy lake bottom is great for swimming, so bring all your water toys and floats. A private dock with boat tie-ups is included. (owner also has boats on the dock) Linens [bath/hand towels] and bedding included, bring your own beach towels. Two cottages, Green and Blue, are typically rented by the week in the summer time, Sat 2pm to Sat 10am. We offer these cottages by the weekend in April and Sept if no weekly bookings. We also offer for rent a 22' pontoon boat to our guests!

The Grandkids had a great time swimming and playing in the water. The adults had a wonderful time relaxing and watching the sunsets. The fireworks were awesome as we arrived on the 5th of July. Very nice place to go for a family vacation!

A wonderful getaway!

This cozy cottage is the perfect place to spend some time with gorgeous lake views, waterfront access, and maybe even a boat ride or two. The homey feeling of an amazing staff can’t be beat! Would highly recommend to any groups looking for some family time along the water!

House was very clean and very comfortable. Kitchen was well stocked. Plenty of sleeping space for all. We enjoyed our trip.Host was very nice and easy to contact.Lake was amazingly clear and we had a beautiful view. Weather was colder than expected so we did not get to spend as much time in the water. Would definately rent again especially on Lake James.

Quintessential Indiana Lake Cottage

The cottage was great for our purpose. The owners live just behind and above the cottage so they were available anytime we needed them. They brought us aluminum foil and s’mores sticks when we needed it. Very nice family owned properties.

Quaint and Peaceful, Light and Airy

We stayed in the cottage for a week. It was a quaint and wonderful space for our family. Light and airy bedrooms fit all of us and the amenities met all of our needs. We absolutely LOVED being right on Lake James. Waking up in the morning and seeing the serenity of the lake, the green grass and mature shade trees was good for the soul. Being able to just walk out to the pier and get right into the water was the best. Boating across the lake to Tom’s Donuts was a nice morning treat. A very memorable vacation. Would definitely do again.

We all grew up in Angola Indiana which is where I attended Trine University for a BSME. After undergrad I chased a pretty blond to California, now 34 years married, but we always enjoy returning to Lake James multiple times a year for family, friends and fun. My brother, Jeff, lives in the home behind the 3 family cottages and he is the one who locally manages the units. Calendar is always at our website: Cottages of Lake James dot com.

Why they chose this property

We have been coming to the lake since my grandfather built the cottage to the south in 1949. My brother bought the "Blue Cottage" to the north in 2002 and so I bought the "Green Cottage" in between. Family also owns the house on the hill and most of the woods behind. This has been, and always will be, a great spot for family and friends to enjoy!

What makes this property unique

This is a nice cozy clean cottage. Thanks to Jeff's construction business it is always maintained in pristine condition. With mostly repeat tenants, you can expect the cottage to be clean and well equipped for your week of fun!
