By the Sea Villa is a 3 bedroom / 2 bathroom home that sleeps 6. This is a ground floor unit with a nice grassy yard off the lanai, surrounded by tropical greenery and with an excellent view of the Waikoloa Beach Golf Course, and a glimpse of the ocean in the distance.

The open-concept main room includes kitchen, dining area, great room, and covered lanai with grill. The indoor dining room table will comfortably accommodate 6 people. The lanai has a dining table with room for 4 and overlooks the Waikoloa Beach Golf Course.

The living room features a large Ultra HD 4K TV.

We love friends & families!

Big Island is such a wonderful place to spend time with your friends, family, children and grandchildren. Vacations create such wonderful memories; we hope this trip will be one of your fondest family memories and that you'll return year after year.

There is a $25/night fee per group for access to Hali'i Kai's amazing Ocean Club, which is a short walk from the home. The oceanfront club has a tiered saltwater lagoon-style pool with waterfalls and spa and an oceanfront fitness center. The Ocean Club Bar and Grill is a great spot for convenient and delicious food and drink. The fee is payable at the Hali'i Kai office at the time of checkin.

The resort has two world-class golf courses and there is a tennis court in the community. Guests staying at By the Sea Villa enjoy a golf discount to the Waikoloa Beach Golf Course.

Things to do

Within the Waikoloa Beach Resort you'll find the white sand A-Bay (Anaeho'omalu Bay) beach. A short drive away are a dozen of the most spectacular beaches in Hawaii including Beach 69, Hapuna beach and the breathtaking Mauna Kea beach.

The Kohala coast is a golfer's paradise with seven challenging courses all within seven miles of our villa.

Minutes away are the Kings Shops and the Queens Shops where you can find supermarket, coffee shops, restaurants, clothing and accessory stores, art, and free weekly entertainment in the evenings.

Great family getaway
Hali'i Kai is a beautiful, quiet destination for a family getaway. The By The Sea villa is well located within the property, has lovely views, and is a short walk from the pool and fitness center. We visited during high season and so found it challenging to find enough seating at the pool, but it was still a far better experience than a crowded resort. We spotted whales daily from the pool deck, and it is a great location for enjoying the sunset. We would visit again, and would recommend it to family and friends.

The condo was fabulous!
We really enjoyed our stay at the Hali’ Kai. The condo was well equipped and spacious. The beds were comfortable! The garage even had tons of stuff for kids activities including bikes and boogie boards and snorkels. The pool was awesome and we enjoyed several sunset there. We’d stay there again for sure!

Great location next to Hilton with beautiful sunsets
Lovely condo overlooking the golf course, and from the walk-out, of the ocean. We walked the ocean path to the Hilton most mornings, drove to Hapuna beach for boogie boarding and cooked meals every day. The unit had most everything needed. Be aware that the bikes look better than they are though. The gated community is a nice size for a quick walk. The pool area is lovely and a big draw — we had lunch there one day and it was something we would do again. If the places we have stayed at in Waikoloa general area it was the best mix of location and age of unit we have found. We would definitely stay there again.

Great stay at Hali'i Kai 9E
Beautiful condo. Could see both the sunset and the "sunrise" (sun over the mountain) from the Lanai. Very clean, nice appliances, comfortable couch, nice TV. Easy walking distance to the pool area and the Hilton's pool area. Good kitchen with plenty of plates, utensils, blender, etc. Full size washer and dryer. The two main things that we didn't like were the bed in the master bedroom and the Lanai light. The bed felt really soft and my wife could feel the springs. She ended up sleeping in one of the other beds for a few of the nights because the master bed made her back hurt. I don't think we would stay here again unless the bed is replaced. The Lanai light was out for our entire trip. To the owner's credit they did get someone out there quickly when I informed them that the light was out to replace it. Turns out that it was a problem with the fixture and it would take time to receive the parts to fix it. I was bummed because I was looking forward to eating dinner outside. I live someplace cold so I will not be able to eat outside until sometime in May.

We had a great stay at Hali’i Kai! The owners provided everything we needed including beach towels, coolers, snorkel gear, bikes and more. The property is on the golf course, and the sunset views were amazing. The air conditioning was cold, too. Our only small complaint would be that the DVD player wasn’t working, and we had hopes for a movie night.

Exasperated Arrival
I had been planning this trip for a long time and was truly looking forward to my time here. 1st upon arrival right off airplane, I was informed of problem with refrigerator. Replacement fridge was unclean upon arrival (had to clean night of arrival), it didn't fit in kitchen, had no ice or filtered water for entire week. 2. Upon arrival master bed had dried up urine on bed, so we had to change all bedding and wash that night and next day. 3. 2nd bedroom bed was broken at head of bed, bed was angled forward at head. Had to flip everything around for my child to be able to sleep. 4th Problem: Master bed was rock hard, husband with bad back slept on couch entire trip, extra blankets had blood stains on it. 5th issue: there were ants in house (all in living room). Company came out but still next day (after they came out) my daughter woke up to and crawling on her bed (bedroom 3). Showers were stuck upon arrival had to yank really hard to get them to go but once we did that they were fine. Despite all of the extra cleaning I had to do on my arrival (and throughout the week long vacation) I was still charged the cleaning fee (which I feel should have been reimbursed or some money reimbursed for the unclean establishment). Finally I left my sandals outside per request of owner, and local birds picked at them and ruin my shoes, had to go out and purchase another pair. We also had an extra guest in the house, a gecko that we could not catch to put it outside. This was supposed to be my family's dream vacation, instead i just spent half of my time cleaning this unclean property just to be able to stay here, since there were no refunds. I explained all of this to owners while vacationing, not much they were able to do. The overall place Hali'i Kai is beautiful. I suggest booking through them directly.

Another great stay at Hali’i Kai!
Everything was absolutely perfect with our stay. A few specific comments and partially to address the concerns the previous reviewer raised - which didn’t seem valid to me? 1. Property manager was super helpful with the extra arrival instructions to avoid quarantine. Made it a breeze 2. Check in was available until 6 pm on Friday when we arrived (and I think every day?) 3. As always the beach club staff (and food and drink) were awesome The condo was great - and was really well outfitted with spices; oil and vinegar; soap shampoo conditioner; anything you’d want for the beach; Landry detergent. Anything you might hope a rental would have

Horrible Property Manager
Some people should not be in the hospitality business and Jeff, the Property Manager, is a prime example. First he charged my credit card additional money after I was “paid in full” for a supposedly last minute change in tax rate without my permission. I have rented through VRBO many times and did not realize that property managers have access to charge your credit card additional fees without your knowledge or consent and without going through VRBO. This made me feel very uncomfortable. I would rather have the protection of VRBO’s policies and procedures related to my credit card. The listing clearly states that the unit comes with special golf privileges and there is even a laminated flyer in the condo stating discounted golf rates . When I asked the property manager about this he merely sent me a link for the golf course website. There were no discounts. The straw that broke the camel’s back was the property managers attitude about everything. Basically he is right and nothing is his fault or his department. We had a very difficult time accessing the on-site property amenities. You have to get passes from the HOA office which is open very limited hours. We were there 2 days before we could even get in the pool area! Once I did have the passes I went over to work out at 8:00 and the complex was locked up tight and my pass would not work. The landscape guy apologized and said no one showed up for work to unlock it. It was 4 days into my vacation before I could get my morning workout in! This resort charges tourists a daily fee for the amenities and when I asked for a refund for the days I could not access they said it also included parking (even though I parked in the garage of the individual unit!). If you are going to milk tourists for additional fees you should at least back it up by having those services available! Additionally most of the workout equipment had out of order signs on it and the whole complex shut down at 8 pm. We wanted to take an evening hot tub but it closed so early we were not able to! The condo itself was fine, although the furniture is worn and needs updating. We were not able to find basic supplies like a grill brush or hot pad to take things out of the oven. Prices are super high right now and this unit just did not live up to the price/value equation. Based on the bad attitude of this property manager I would not rent through them ever again.

This is a beautiful property in a beautiful setting. We enjoyed the Ocean Club pool that is on the property and saw whales daily from the pool area. The condo was clean and spacious for the 5 of us. A few areas need attention, the guest room double bed mattress should be replaced because it sinks in the middle. There were no dish towels or dish cloths for cleaning up. The guest room bath tub is slow to drain. The remote for the ceiling fan is missing so we were not able to use the fan. We would stay here again and recommend it to friends too,

Great location with ocean view. This a great choice for golfers as the owner has arranged for a reduced price for golfing at Waikoloa (Gold Card). The owner was very responsive to our emails about the unit. The unit was well equipped. Our only minor complaint was that the second main bedroom could use a mattress refresh as it was prone for sleepers to roll into the middle of the bed.

The property amenities were great. Lovely pool, tennis courts and even pickle ball. The unit has an excellent floor plan. Master bedroom good size & view. 2 other bedrooms are standard and minimally furnished and decorated. Furnishings & interior decor are a bit dated and worn but the kitchen was well stocked. Beach toys, umbrellas, coolers, bamboo mats and chairs were useful. Some items need maintenance and updating. Location of unit was great and may return someday.

Last minute trip to Big Island early February
So glad this property was available for a last minute trip. The villa was immaculate and roomy. Bathrooms were clean and great shower heads. We used the discounted golf several days and what beautiful views while golfing. Friendly staff at course and pro shop had great choices in golf wear or equipment The pool/club was very clean and the lounge chairs by the pool were cushioned and nothing cheap there. Bar was roomy and TVs on for those he needed a sports fix. Bartender was extremely efficient and no matter how crowded no long wait for a drink. Good happy hour specials! Will be back.

My wife and I totally enjoyed our stay at Barry’s wonderful condo. We loved the fantastic location, the access to the Ocean Club, watching the awesome sunsets, and we took full advantage of the great golf courses. What a beautiful, comfortable, and enjoyable place to be !

We were a family of four with two adult kids, interested in golf, beach and exploration, first time on the Big Island. The complex was well situated and the unit was accurately described in terms of proximity to ocean and the pool/outdoor exercise area/restaurant (Ocean Club)-I think this was a highlight to the property. I think some of the furnishings inside the unit are a bit tired from use but overall, we were very comfortable. The property management had to replace a dryer while we were there and they were so very accommodating. Great mgmt team and responsive owner. Thank you.

Loved the location!
We had no air conditioning when we checked in but were put up in another unit and the motor was replaced the next day. Great view from the lanai and lovely pool and club area. My husband enjoyed the beautiful golf course!
