THE SPACE:
The Scenic Retreat Home offers guests 4 beds/ 1.5 baths. Each bedroom has a theme. Mountain Room, Cabin Room, Captains Quarters, and the Barnyard for the kiddos.
Downstairs you'll find a large sunroom overlooking the lake.
Enjoy the coffee bar in the morning while watching the sun come up over the water. Or relax on the couch and watch the gas fireplace!
Upstairs you'll find 80 year old wooden shiplap on the walls and some of the doors we were able to save when we renovated.
----------OUTSIDE----------
The deck on the front of the house is large and comes with a table and chairs. We welcome you to use the grill.
Firepit - bring your own wood.
The dock is private, feel free to watch the sunset or hang out down there.
4 kayaks and adult size life vests are down at the water for you to use.
----------OTHER THINGS TO NOTE----------
PARKING - 2 cars comfortably, 4 can be packed in super tight in summer. In winter months, best to plan on 3 maximum.
STAIRS TO THE WATER - It is a long and steep walk to get down to the water (approximately 4 stories of elevation change).
GETTING INTO THE HOUSE - You have to walk down a set of stairs to get into the house. The stairs from the 1st floor to the second floor are steep. We do not recommend this home to anyone with mobility concerns.
KAYAKS - Available May 15 - Sept 15
4 kayaks + adult size life jackets are down at the dock for you to use.
AC - Window Units installed May 15 - Sept 15
WINDOWS - All windows have cranks removed and locks installed. Most are nearly impossible to shut again once they are opened. It is against house rules to open the windows!!
TRAIN - Comes by once or twice a day, rarely on the horn, usually about 6 cars long. Personally we love watching it go by. We've never noticed it go by outside the window of 6am - 6pm but obviously have no control over their schedule.
CROOKED/SLOPED FLOORS - The house is 110 years old, it is far from straight. If you're looking for a new fancy place, this isn't it.
BUGS - Depending on time of day and year, there are mosquitos, black flies, spiders, etc. Not excessive but don’t be surprised if you see some bugs here. Not a bad idea to bring bug spray.
GRILL/DECK/DOCK - Our cleaners do not check or clean the Grill/Deck/Dock. Please clean up after yourself.

About the host

I’m from the area, live in Michigan now and work as an engineer for Ford Motor Company. I rehab houses and manage a few rental properties on the side.
My family is still in town and is the first line of defense should you need anything while you’re staying at our Lake House.
