Watauga Lake & Mtn Views - Hot Tub & Dock on the lake
Heaven's Gate has one of the most beautiful views available of any rental on pristine Lake Watauga. With over 2500 sq ft (230 sq mtrs) of luxury custom cabin living including a hot tub, spectacular views, soaring cathedral ceilings, and wrap-around porches, we are the best place to make memories in the region. This 3 Bedroom, 3 full bathrooms modern log cabin has been recently remodeled and boasts a brand new kitchen, furniture, appliances, linens, memory foam beds, etc. The owners spend significant time here and have made it their home away from home that is warm and inviting. Due to it's limited rental availability it is very well cared for. Included is lake access at the bottom of the road where there is a community dock and usage of our canoe or the ability to dock your boat on our dock during your stay. Now with new High Speed Internet of 250 mbs or more!
The upper (3rd) floor has a large bedroom with 2 new queen memory foam mattresses and a large loft area with a twin trundle daybed and a brand new full size bathroom. There are amazing lake and mountain views from this loft and it opens to the main living area below.
The middle (2nd) floor has the main living area with the kitchen, dining room, living room as well as a full bathroom that has a separate shower and Jacuzzi jetted tub. The views are spectacular and it opens up to a large deck that wraps around to the front door and a separate area with a 5 person spa as well as an outdoor gas firepit overlooking the lake. There is an indoor gas fireplace on this floor surrounded by beautiful painted stone and a new 65" flat screen TV connected to high speed wireless internet in the living room.
The lower (1st) floor has the master bedroom and master bathroom as well as a guest bedroom. Both bedrooms have brand new king size memory foam beds. On this level is a large laundry room with full size washer and dryer, iron and ironing board
The community is a small group of 12 homes in a section of the lake that is perfectly situated just 35 minutes from Boone, NC and from Beech Mountain for skiing in the winter. It's a short 2 minute drive to the community dock where you can use our canoe or go swimming. In the entrance closet you will find the life jackets and oars for the canoe usage. We have exterior security cameras to keep our home and guests safe.
Lake Watauga is a hidden gem that is over 16 miles long, surrounded by beautiful mountains and hills with the majority of the lake being in the Cherokee National Forest. It is the first in a chain of lakes and is fed by natural mountain and spring waters which makes it one of the cleanest lakes in the US. The views on the lake are absolutely spectacular year round and any size boat can be taken on this large lake.
There is so much to do near by with multiple boat rental marinas, incredible hiking, wineries and the Blue Ridge Parkway can be picked up in nearby Boone, NC. Head out to catch huge lake trout on the lake or just enjoy the remarkable scenery and take a swim. Grandfather Mountain, Banner Elk, Blowing Rock and Beech Mountain are all less than 1 hour from our home. Among other choices to explore several caverns and waterfalls within the same distance.
This is an excellent choice for families with allergies, as PETS ARE NOT ALLOWED. Given that this is our personal 2nd home which we often use, please respect the NO SMOKING on the property and no pet policy. The short drive up the hill from the lake to our home is a single lane road leading to our steep driveway. Always use care and caution coming and going. We highly recommend arriving during daylight hours for the first time. In WINTER months because of potential snow we STRONGLY recommend ONLY USING 4 WHEEL DRIVE vehicles.

This was a lovely home in a beautiful location overlooking the lake. Views from every room. Plenty of room and well stocked for cooking. Beds were very comfy. Large dining table, and large table on deck. Very nice hot tub. Appreciated all the instructions on how to use things. Nice quiet setting. Yes the driveway is steep but not an issue for us.
The cabin was so comfortable and lovely! It was well appointed and had everything we could’ve wanted or needed for a relaxing getaway. The mattresses were incredibly comfortable and the view was stunning. We hope to make this an annual trip!
The property was great for our family! We all enjoyed the hot tub and the view from the front deck was amazing. The community boat dock that is available for use is a little farther from the house than we had hoped but the house and amenities in it made up for that.
Stay was great. House was ready for us and was as advertised. Small issue with the gas firepit but it was figured out relatively easy. Owner was quick to respond to our questions.
Amazing cabin! Beautiful views and very clean. Host was super and responded quickly to any questions I had. The driveway was steep for motorcycles but it is on a mountain. I would not hesitate to return in a vehicle and stay at this charming home Thank you to our host for helping make our stay such a positive experience!
My husband and I stayed with two other couples; this home was very clean, and well equipped! We also really appreciated the detailed information information provided by the owner. Beautiful house and view just as described!
We stayed at this cabin while visiting family. The home had plenty of room for us all and was very clean and well appointed. The view was absolutely beautiful. We enjoyed the hot tub, dock for swimming, canoe and board games. The owner Paul was very responsive. We would definitely stay here again!
PERFECT!! Couldn’t have asked for a better place. Location was stunning. The house was spacious and clean with everything we needed. Check in process was easy. Would 11/10 recommend this place. Don’t skip. So sad to leave.
Great views!! Loved sitting on the deck with fire pit & hot tub. Even when it rained, still able to enjoy views with all the windows. Liked the loft sitting area to read & relax with a view! House very clean & well stocked. Comfortable beds, nice having full bathrooms on each floor. We did need to drive to the dock as a little too long & steep of a walk from house for us. Rented a boat from Fish Springs Marina to spend a day on beautiful Lake Watauga. Enjoyed breakfast at Watauga Lake Mercantile. Friendly staff & great food, especially enjoyed the biscuits & gravy!
We enjoyed our stay, comfortable private and views are amazing! As mentioned the access to the dock is a little challenging but that is to be expected. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you could possibly need to prepare meals, beverages etc.
Spent a long weekend with our family at this beautiful home. Had the best of both worlds with a mountain view and a lake view right out the back windows! Updated kitchen with everything we needed. Good communication with the owner. Enjoyed our stay!
Beautiful cabin with a magnificent view. Paul ( owner ) is very responsive to questions and sent us a helpful to - do list of the surrounding area. The cabin is about a 45 min drive to Damascus, where we rented bicycles for the Virginia Creeper Trail. ( a downhill 17 mile beautiful bike ride) which I highly recommend. Just a short downhill walk from the cabin is the community dock where we spent a lazy day swimming, fishing and using the cabin’s canoe.
We had 2 families with 8 total people. The house was perfect for this many people. We liked that the kids could all be upstairs and the adults sleep comfortably downstairs. The views are amazing and it was fantastic just sitting on the deck drinking coffee or anything else and just chatting taking in the view. The road is very very steep so just expect that but it is something that you get used to. The winery up the road has fantastic pizza and some solid wine as well. This house had things that many rentals lack and we appreciated because it saved us trips to the store on a few occasions. We would love to stay here again! Off the beaten path and just close enough to things to make an afternoon of an activity with time to get back to the cabin for dinner and relaxation!
We had a great vacation. The cabin was exactly as shown in pictures. We wanted a trip just to enjoy our family time and not have any scheduled events. We played games, we did rent a boat for the day, we went to the local Mercantile for breakfast one morning, we went to Linville Caverns one day, we used the grill a couple times. We had planned on using hot tub but we didn't end up using it. The outside balconies had beautiful views. We would stay again for sure!! Paul was very responsive to a couple questions I had. The big thing I will tell any future guest is read all descriptions, I miss read a couple things so there was some confusion in my planning but nothing major. Paul's description is very accurate. Also, I would not suggest driving a vehicle larger than an SUV, it is a very steep drive up, roads are narrow and some tight turns. We rented a 12 person van so our family of 8 could all ride together. Let's just say it added a little flare to the drive up and down from the cabin. Lol
We had the best stay at Heavens Gate! It was immaculate, the beds were comfortable, it was beautifully decorated and worked perfect for our family vacation. We will definitely be back!
Great property with an amazing view.
Amenities complete, nothing we found lacking.
Access to water is a nice hike and a bit of exercise up hill, or can drive and park.
Liked the canoe and dock, had a great time at the lake.
30 min to Boone/Blowing rock and Blue Ridge Parkway, did some excursion, nice restaurants ice creams, and awesome hikes there.
Can't find anything to complain about, though I am trying....
Everything was great except Mother Nature. Cut a little short cause of snow. Wonderful place and the owner was great to work with excellent communication
