This home is a quiet, lovely gem. It is equipped with everything we needed plus more. It is clean and cozy. Working with the owner was amazing and easy. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Spacious accommodations, and many nice amenities. The kitchen was truly fully stocked, which I appreciated. They even had resuable shopping bags, bicycles we could borrow, paper plates, and other conveniences. Easy access to the Gorge and the local activities. We saw deer in the front yard, and the area seemed safe. A great experience.
We enjoyed our stay at this home which was clean and in a great location! We enjoyed the deer, the kids had fun in the backyard and we enjoyed the area of tourist attractions. Would definitely recommend this home for your stay!
We loved our stay at The Cañon House! My husband and I met our two daughters and their families in Cañon City for a weeklong vacation. We stayed at The Cañon House, while they stayed at a VRBO in town, five minutes away. In the mornings, our son-in-law picked us up, bringing the older children with him. They enjoyed a ride on the bicycles each day. The last day, I put dinner in the crockpot to cook while we were away, and we ate on the patio that evening. Each day, we saw deer. The house was cute, homey, and comfortable. We did enjoy many of the attractions the area has to offer, including the shops in town, the Royal Gorge and the Royal Gorge Railroad, the Garden of the Gods, and the Manitou Cliff Dwellings. The Cañon House added warmth and family time to our vacation. It truly transformed our stay from a touristy vacation to a family visit.
Overall, we had a lovely stay. The house is exactly as shown in the pictures, and on a quiet street. The only downside is the swamp cooler, which is located in a window at one end of the house. Instead of vents supplying cool air to each of the rooms, the swamp cooler sends air into one room. The cool air must then find its way to the rest of the house. This has two unfortunate results. It takes a long time for the farthest parts of the house (the bedrooms) to cool off. And the room that has the swamp cooler in it becomes noisy, windy and too cold for comfort when the swamp cooler is on.
Rick and I loved the house. Plenty of room in the house with a beautiful yard. The trees are a wonderful site especially the ripe mulberrys. We enjoyed the tourist sites in the area.
My husband and I stayed for 5 days and couldn’t have asked for a more comfortable, clean and pleasant stay! We loved exploring Canon City and the area around it, then going back to the house and kicking back! Billie was so quick to respond for everything we needed- thank you!
We’ll be back!!
I booked this property for my husband who was out helping his parents move into a new place. He had nothing but wonderful things to stay about the property and location. Billie was an amazing host and graciously accommodated him by tacking on an extra day at the end of his stay due to travel delays getting there. She is very responsive and sincerely wants the best stay for her guests. We will definitely book this place again when visiting.
My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights and 3 days. Had a great time! The pictures of the house o line does not do this place justice! All though they are good pictures, in person it is much better. Very homey, nice furniture, very comfy beds. Everything we needed was there. Billie was very nice. Back yard was amazing, had 2 deer there most of the time. We will definitely be keeping this on our list to visit again in this area.
FIVE STARS AND VERY INEXPENSIVE FOR WHAT IT IS. BETTER THAN A HOTEL! THANK YOU BILLIE!
This was a very nice property. The location was convenient for activities, but exceptionally quiet. It was thoughtfully arranged and clean. So many VRBO's I've stayed at have nice "looking" furniture, but often broken down, worn and uncomfortable. Not this house! The owner was quick to answer questions for clarification. Truly, this place was like home. We normally go to Colorado Springs/Manitou Springs area, but decided to try Canon City this time. We love this area and it was nice to avoid a lot of crowds and busy-ness. If we come back to Canon City, this will be our "go-to" place!
This home had everything we needed for a short stay in the area. It was our first time in Canon City as we tried rafting, climbing and the train. We’ve stayed in many home/condo rentals through this service and others - and this one was well stocked for anyone wanting to do their own cooking. We ate out, but I noticed cooking spices, all the kitchen tools you’d need as well as plenty of dish soap, plastic storage bags, paper towels, etc. Weather was hot, but the swamp cooler did cool the home (note that it’s located in the entry room at opposite end from bedrooms - so I set up a fan to blow the cool air down the hall to reach that area). Great option for our family. The coded entry was so easy and convenient.
From the time of booking to after our stay, Billie, the owner, was amazing! Communication was timely and cordial. We decided to leave for Canon City a day early to beat the winter storm so needed the home a day earlier. Without a glitch, Billie was able to accommodate our need. The home is well stocked with everything we needed to prepare a family Christmas dinner and comfortably seated 7 at the dinner table. The front window gives you a beautiful view of Canon City and we were also blessed with a massive Mule Deer Buck (who I named Donner) that walked right in front of the home as the sun was setting behind the mountains. The location is within minutes of town and everything you need. Even had a DoorDash grocery delivery the day we arrived which was nice! I highly recommend staying here. This will be our go to on our next trip out! Thank you Billie
Great property!!! Very responsive owner. Location is fantastic, close to everything. You could walk just about anywhere you want to go. The house is super cute, decorated so nicely. The beds are so comfortable, extremely nice bedding and even good pillows. The kitchen has anything and everything you could want. It has a nice barbecue and everything is clean. Owner thought of a lot of nice extra touches. The sun room is such a great room to relax, read a book. The yard is massive if you want to sit out there too. It a very quiet neighborhood. The stars at night were amazing, so cool to look up and see so many stars than in the city. We will definitely stay here again.
Also there is a lot to do here, we didn't have enough time to do everything so we need to come back. Royal Gorge is just an amazing place,. I highly recommend this property it's really great, you won't be disappointed.
Like home, but way better...it is in Canon City, Colorado!
We needed quiet and sweet relief from "adulting" and Billie, along with her cadre of friends, provided us just that space. The home is very well cared for and there are special touches everywhere that make you feel welcome and to relax, get comfy and enjoy! I loved watching the sun rise from the front porch, looking over the city during my morning stroll, and watching the deer and other critters from the patio in the shady backyard.
We were in the area celebrating a few major milestones and visiting family. Billie's neighbor brought over greens from her harvest, which we served during dinner that night. Having such a lovely place to host dinner while watching two deer grazing in the backyard was priceless! When we had questions, all we had to do was text and Billie (or her property manager) and they were more than happy to help! I would live here if Billie would let me! Thank you for sharing your wonderful home with us!
We took our granddaughter on a Colorado adventure to celebrate her twelfth birthday and stayed in the Canyon House.
Our host, Billie, thought of everything. Communication back and forth with her was effortless, she responded to my several questions immediately, check in info was easy and thorough.
The house is located just above downtown Canyon City in a very quiet neighborhood at the top of the hill, maybe a half mile from the train station. We were greeted by two buck mule deer lounging in the backyard… that was a thrill for our granddaughter.
The house itself was well appointed, think visiting your favorite aunt’s house! Fully stocked kitchen, although we didn’t cook, comfortable beds, and two TV’s.
Leaving the 108* heat in Texas for a week was a treat, but finding a swamp cooler instead of central A/C was a shock… it needn’t have been. The cooler dropped the house temp down quickly, and kept the whole house comfortable as long as you leave the bedroom doors open.
We were so happy with our stay, we’d be happy to recommend the Canyon House to anyone who needs a base to explore the Canyon City area.
Arrived on a warm day and home had no working ac/swamp cooler. Had to open windows which had several inadequate screens and let in MANY moths. Also opening windows exacerbated my allergies. House smelled of freshly sprayed pesticide. Rain over multiple days revealed a leak in the enclosed patio that wet the carpet. Old moldy coffee grounds were left in the coffee pot and unsanitary trash left in bathroom trash can. Great communication with owner on all this, as this was not the way the home was the first time we stayed here Dec 2022. Other than the above, great location, well appointed home.
