About this property
Comfortable gite in the Pic Saint Loup
If you’re looking to getting away from the hustle and bustle of daily life and soak in some amazing scenery, then you’ve come to the right place. Domaine de Cantafaroune, which was a working winery until the mid-1980s, is set amidst unspoilt countryside and surrounded by the storied vineyards of the Pic Saint Loup area, north of Montpellier, midway between the Cevennes Mountains and the Mediterranean Sea.
Here, you can enjoy the numerous local walks, horse and bike rides or even try your hand at an electric scooter to explore the surrounding hills. Alternatively, you can just relax around the pool and summer kitchen, with the Pic Saint Loup and limestone ridges for a backdrop. The signposted trail Grand Pic Saint Loup – voted France’s favourite hiking route in 2021 – offers four different itineraries, one of which runs right past the property, so that you can discover unique viewpoints and local landmarks.
You can also soak in the sun in your private garden or on one of your three private patios, each one with a range of garden furniture to suit your needs – sun loungers, tables and chairs, easy chairs… Or you can have some fun with a range of outdoor games such as badminton, tennis and table tennis, or cool off in the large, shared, sunken pool.
You may want to go off exploring the local heritage – the gite is within easy reach of many picture-postcard medieval villages, but also Roman towns like Nîmes or Arles, and the young, vibrant university city of Montpellier. The beaches lining the shores of the Mediterranean offer another alternative, just a thirty minute drive from the property, and a large lake with beaches and a restaurant are just five minutes away.
And of course, the many wineries of the Pic Saint Loup are more than happy to welcome you and offer you tastings and other activities, including concerts, festivals and vineyard walks, depending on what you takes your fancy. A nice chilled glass of rosé as you watch the sun go down rounds off the day beautifully.
All the shops you need – supermarket, banks, chemists, bakeries etc – are within 5 km of the gite and there’s also a great choice of bars and restaurants close by.
The 4-star gite is fully equipped with everything you can need, including a dishwasher, washing machine and air-conditioning. It features an open-plan kitchen with an oven, microwave oven, hob, coffee makers, kettle, toaster etc opening onto the dining and lounge area which has a comfortable sofa and a flat-screen television with free wifi. The bedroom has a double bed – a travel cot can be provided – and opens onto the covered patio area and the garden. The bathroom features a large walk-in shower, washbasin and heated towel rail, and there is a separate WC. You can park your car free of charge in a private parking area in front of the gite, and all the linen is provided – towels, sheets, quilt cover, tea towels etc. And if you fancy your food cooked on an open fire, a barbecue is provided. We look forward to welcoming you!
