This cabin was the perfect retreat for me and my partner during our weekend getaway. It was cozy, comfortable, and had everything we needed. The only small note I’d mention is that we occasionally heard what sounded like birds nesting in the master bedroom wall. It might just be from the surrounding vegetation, but it could be worth checking out just in case. Overall, though, we had a wonderful stay!
Our stay at Hey Bear cabin was truly one to remember! From the views, to the visiting bears, and overall our whole experience was 5star! The cabin was amazing, and more than we could have asked for. I thank you soo much for hosting us, and can’t wait to plan another trip!

The home is clean but lacks sufficient lighting at night, and the stairs are quite steep. They can be slippery when wet, so it is recommended to add traction tape for safety. The driveway is poorly lit, which made it challenging to locate the home during nighttime visits. While the hot tub is nice, the keypad on its door does not illuminate, making it difficult to see and operate at night. You need to tap it just right for it to work properly.
Immediately upon walking in to the cabin it was apparent that it was going to be an uncomfortable stay for us. The entire cabin reeked of dog urine. The cabin looked like it had not been cleaned in a very long time. My wife and I travel often and never have we stayed in a place as filthy as this cabin. There was dust and dirt EVERY WHERE. In the upstairs bathroom, there was tooth paste splatters all over the wall. Dishes in the cabinet had visible food on them. The towels in the cabin appear to have originally been white, but were in fact grey, dingy and wrinkled. It honestly looked like they had not been washed since the last visitors. The hot tub, that we cautiously chose not to use, smelled like mold. We ended up going into town and purchasing our own towels, cleaning supplies, candles, air freshener and toilet paper. Even still, my wife was uncomfortable the entire stay. And to top it all off, about an hr after we checked out, I realized I left a few pairs of pants and shirts in the upstairs closet. I immediately sent a message and asked if they could be sent to me at my expense. I had to send a couple messages before I got a response. Even then, I was told that the cleaning crew did not find them. I replied that they were left in the closet. I stopped getting replies after that. I guess we can count my clothes as gone. Overall, this was an unpleasant experience. If these owners truly use a cleaning crew, they need to find a new one!!!
The cabin was beautiful and a quick ride in to Gatlinburg. When we arrived, the driveway hadn’t been plowed or salted, but a quick message to the owner later, they had someone out within the hour to have the driveway ready for us to get up. She was very communicative and made sure we could get into the property. A couple of the games were missing the items needed to play and the hunting game was stuck on a loading screen, but we enjoyed playing air hockey and modified games of pool because some of the pool balls we’re missing. Overall, it was a beautiful cabin close to all the fun Gatlinburg activities.
The view was absolutely stunning and the best spot to get a break from life. Only regret is not staying longer and bringing more food to cook so we didn’t have to leave the cabin. Only disclaimer is for folks who aren’t used to driving up the mountain (Northern Indiana native who lives on flat land) if you are faint of heart driving up a literal MOUNTAIN at night is pretty stressful. Make sure you arrive during daylight hours and you are comfortable driving without guard rails by the road. Otherwise, 11/10 experience and looking forward to our next trip here!

Nice cabin but needs help
There are no 1/2 stars, but I would really give it a 3-1/2. The cabin is really nice. But the reason we can't give a higher rating is the condition of things in the cabin. I really should have paid better attention to the write ups before our stay. It appears that the arcade game and the air hockey game have been down for several months. We saw these things in the ad and were looking forward to using them, but nothing worked. These things either need to be fixed or taken away and out of the pictures. This is the end of January and reading reviews online and in a book in the cabin, people have been complaining about this since July. A few other little things just all added up. Hope they fix these things. Could be a much better place.
Had a wonderful experience for our first cabin trip. Place was super clean and so comfortable and cozy. Host was very easy to get in touch with and super accommodating. Definitely planing to go back to Hey Bear Cabin.
Beautiful cabin that offers relative seclusion! We stayed here for a week while visiting the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area and we were not disappointed. Hey Bear! was the perfect relaxation spot after long days of being out and about. Sitting in the hot tub on the cold winter nights was fantastic! Two pieces of warning: 1. There are A LOT of steps to access the cabin. This is identified in the ad but I wanted to throw that out so everyone takes note before committing to this property. 2. The game tables are all missing pieces and the video game system doesnt work. That didn’t bother us, but if you are booking this property for those items then you will be disappointed Overall, I highly recommend Hey Bear Cabin to any couples looking for a nice getaway from the rest of the world.
The place is beautiful and a quick 10 minute drive into town.
The good: The bed is comfy, hot tub works perfectly, unit is beautiful, and property is private
The not as good: the AC doesn’t seem powerful enough for summer time Tennessee as it was always hot up where the bed is, the view isn’t bad but not as great as expected, the big buck game doesn’t work
It is a beautiful home, lots of stairs though. If you have issues with stairs this is not the place for you, we enjoyed it very much. It is a peaceful home and relaxing on the porch is a treat. There is not a view, just a very wooded yard. The games inside are nice, the air hockey table needs repairs done. There is also a rotted spot on the first stoop on the right side so be careful. Overall a very pretty and quiet place. We enjoyed it.
This was a nice secluded place to stay, check in/out was easy. The cabin is well arranged and decorated. I will say the walls need a good dusting but over all it was clean. We did bring our dog and the grass area was a bit smaller than I expected but it was enough. We enjoyed our stay and would do so again!
This cabin was absolutely wonderful! So much so even my husband complemented me multiple times on what a great booking I selected. The hot tub was so relaxing after each days hike through the Smokies. We even got to see two black bear encounters on the property! This place is perfect for couples looking to have a quiet relaxing get away!!
Hot tub was terrible full of scum , I had to clean filter myself . Dryer packed with lint had to clean to get it working . Fireplace never cleaned ashes blew all over . Every game described had either missing parts , broken or not functional. Host not very good at communicating unless it’s about money . NOT PET FRIENDLY 50 steps to drive and ABSOLUTELY NO PLACE TO GO POTTY . Small area by drive in dirt but was already full of dog poop . I had to walk down the road to find a grass area three times a day .
Very nice. Few things could use attention to make it great
Very nice place to say may be very difficult in snowy conditions. We love the cabin. There were a few things that could be cleaned or replaced.
Like rugs in living room, I think need to be cleaned.
And there's no way to refill hot tub. If water gets low because the hose is broken. There was a leak in the window sill above the sink when it rained, but they responded quickly and said that would have it checked out.. Great place to stay, but maybe just a little bit more attention to detail when cleaning would definitely recommend.
Very easy check in process and the host was very communicative! Very romantic and fun place to book for a weekend getaway! Only complaint was that it wasn’t very clean upon our arrival and the hot tub had a lot of dirt in it! Other than that it was great and definitely recommend!
Not a bad thing to say whatsoever! This place exceeded our already high expectations, and the owners are very helpful and responsive. Highly recommend!
