About this property
HURRAY! Holidays are Booking FAST! 5 Star Lakeview-For “Only the BEST!”
IMPORTANT: 2026 Thanksgiving (4 night minimum) Christmas & New Year(minimum 3 nights) are still available. JUNE & August dates require 5 night minimum stay. 5* STAR executive home with UNMATCHED LAKE, NEVER SUMMER WILDERNESS AND RMNP VIEWS AND ACCESS now available. Nearby Trail Ridge Marina rents sport/power and pontoon boats so you can get out and enjoy the water. NOTE: Summer months (June & August) have a 5 night minimum requirement.
Cruise between Shadow Mountain Lake and Grand Lake through the canal to enjoy shopping, dinner and ice cream in town. Go out to the islands for the day in the cool shade and set up a picnic spot near easy spots for young children to play in the water. Even Moose have been seen resting on the islands and of course they frequent the local shore seen right from the deck of this home.
Maximize your time outdoors on the HUGE deck without missing a beat as you watch the boats and skiers go by. Spend a lazy afternoon lounging on the deck reading or have some family competition on the Bocci Court. Hike right from the house across the dam into RMNP and up to the fire tower, about a 3 to 4 hour hike up, which will give you views across all 3 major lakes and for miles beyond. There is no better place to view the 4th of July fireworks than from the serene waters of Grand Lake. (Can only see partial fireworks from house so recommend going closer to town)
Inside, enjoy the amenities you might expect to find in a home of this quality including a full gourmet kitchen with a six burner Wolf gas range, double Jenn-Aire ovens and refrigerator with freezer and ice-maker and microwave oven ... all stainless of course.
Tired from your hike? Relax in front of the great room open gas log fireplace with floor to ceiling stone work or better yet, enjoy the steam shower or air-jet tub in the main floor master bedroom. Game on? Watch it on the 75" LCD HDTV in the main floor great room or on the 65" HDTV in the lower level family room while waiting to play the winner on the tournament quality pool table.
Upstairs are two additional bedroom suites separated by a large loft area. Each of these bedrooms has their own bathroom and each has a ceiling fan. Large Loft sitting area features a sleeper sofa that opens to a queen bed with upgraded memory foam mattress. The lower level has a 4th large bedroom with a king size bed and a bunk bed adjacent to the lower level full bathroom.
We are just minutes from the town of Grand Lake and the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. Grand Lake provides a classic 'old west' town ambiance and fun for the whole family. From there you can enjoy the shops, restaurants, mini-golf, guided horseback riding, guided and unguided snowmobile and ATV rentals, go-carts, bumper boats and more.
Rocky Mountain National Park is home to an abundant wildlife population including elk, deer, moose, bears, porcupines and foxes (many of these pass through the property as well). Miles of hiking and snowshoeing trails are accessible right from the home or short drive up to the Kawuneeche Visitor Center in the Park for guided tours and other activities.

IMPORTANT NOTES: 1. We DO NOT allow gatherings or events (family reunions, weddings, rehearsal dinners, etc.) of any kind to take place in our home. We receive multiple inquiries as such so want to provide notification here to help save you time in your vacation rental search. Strictly enforced. 2. CAMP FIRES or any OPEN FIRES are not allowed in this HOA community at any time. There is a gas bbq grill on deck for cooking only. 3. Quiet Time: 10pm to 8am is quiet time. Noise, even normal conversation, travels in the mountains and neighbors sleep with windows open as most homes have no A/C in the mountains. We request guests move indoors at 10pm. 4. Not a PARTY House: This home is designed for quality family gatherings. We discourage heavy drinking groups from booking this or any of our rental properties due to past problems. We will contact the sheriff which will lead to eviction and loss of all fees paid. Best to find another home if you are looking for a party place.

About the host
Hosted by Joe Penta
We came to Colorado in 1995 from Sydney, Australia and Boston, MA where we are originally from. We bought our original Grand Lake vacation home in 2000 which provided many years of enjoyment. We moved up full time a number of years ago and built this brand new home at the southern end of Shadow Mountain Lake in 2008 and now are making that home available for vacation rentals. We hope you will enjoy the peace and serenity of this special place as much as we do.
Why they chose this property
The lake view and access from this home is perfect. I have yet to see a better view than this home offers and I am a real estate agent and have seen them all. You can fish, hunt, hike, boat and enjoy any other recreational activity from this home. I fish the lake and adjoining streams and hunt in the national forest down the road. You can hike across the dam at the end of the lake into Rocky Mountain National Park and up to the fire tower which is about a 3-4 hour hike up and allows you to see all of the 3 lakes and miles beyond.
What makes this property unique
Boating, Wave Running, Wake Boarding, Fishing, Hunting, Hiking, Water Skiing, Billiards, Bocci or just sitting on the deck or in the living room and enjoying the views.
