The Space: Art studio residence on shared 8-acre ranchette on a dirt road at the western edge of town, opposite miles of open range. The loft is 750 sq-ft of high-ceiling open space with 600 sq-ft of covered porch in a private building.
The spacious high-ceiling loft contains custom made art-crate furniture including a double bed, a large coffee table and a rolling closet, as well as pine dining table with Prouvé chairs, a comfortable sofa, and outdoor retro rockers. The kitchen is equipped with a microwave, cooking range, countertop oven, toaster, coffee maker, and cooking and eating utensils. The bathroom has a custom designed concrete shower and sink. The loft is owned by two artists whose artworks are on display. It is outfitted with high speed wi-fi, heating and cooling systems, and ceiling fans. The south facing covered 600-ft outdoor deck is ideal for lounging day and night.
The building sits on a shared 8-acre ranchette with plenty of land on which you are welcome to roam. Gorgeous landscape extends in all directions, with quiet roads perfect for long walks. There are loads of bunnies, jackrabbits, and the occasional tortoise, javelina, fox, and other wildlife can be spotted. It is an especially good area for birding; the extreme silence only punctuated by the calls and songs of the many varieties of birds.
The place is ideal for a couple or small family requiring room and tranquility. It's spacious inside and out, airy with lots of light. While it's out of the fray of downtown, it's a short walk, bike ride or drive to the Judd and Chinati Foundations, coffeehouses, restaurants, supermarkets and shops.

It’s a perfect place to stay, gorgeous views of the landscape and convenient to town. Very comfortable all around! We appreciated Stephan’s responsiveness and had a wonderful time.
If you want to get away from the city, like my wife and I did, then this is the place. So simple and great. The stars in Marfa shine simply amazing. So quiet...We loved it. Highly recommend.
This was a great place to land after my week-long backpacking trip in Big Bend. The accommodation was clean and simple, equipped with all the essentials I needed. I appreciated its location on the outskirts of town, as it allowed me to avoid the touristy hustle and bustle of Marfa. The porch offered an excellent view of the desert and the night sky. It was very quiet at night, except for the occasional freight train passing by, which was brief. I actually enjoyed the faint rumble it made. The bedding was comfortable; I appreciated having a down comforter and a blanket. I would stay here again.
I had been eyeing this location when planning past stays in Marfa and was excited to spend a few days relaxing after a road trip through New Mexico. The space was very clean and the light and the patio outside were my favorite aspects. The location is phenomenal. Close to town but removed so that you can enjoy the sweeping vistas of West Texas. My dog and I enjoyed taking walks down the dirt road each morning and evening. The accommodations were simple and inspiring leaving room to empty my cluttered mind and find creative drive. It had all the amenities I needed in the bathroom and kitchen as well as nice touches in the living space. I spent a lot of time on the large porch meditating on my yoga mat. I had an issue with the gas heater and the host was VERY responsive and had it solved promptly without making me feel like I was a bother. I have stayed in several accommodations on Marfa and I would, and WILL, rebook this space in a heart beat. Thank you for giving me a space to refill my heart.
1 mike always from courthouse, plus I love walking through neighborhoods. Incredible sunset views, night sky (we were lucky with the timing - got great views of venus +mercury .
Studio was very well kept. Fans could use a cleaning but welcome to the desert, hard to keep dust off. They have some cooking items, salt, pepper and such but very close to Porters if you need anything.
This would be a hard summer stay due to heat / small air conditioner. Also not a great place for dogs - tons and dons of spurs so even my dog going to the bathroom was a challenge. B
Oh the porch! The porch!
Loved our stay. Only real quibble was the turnaround time to answer questions from host. We wanted to extend our stay but didn’t hear back. No big deal tho.

Disliked: Check-in, communication
it's all about adaptation
very funky booking experience. stressful lack of communication with property mgmt despite on-time booking payments, and a few questions asked. no confirmation and arrival instructions were received almost up to travel day, when i was informed payment had not been received, despite timely transaction confirmation on my credit card statement. VRBO support ultimately provided me the phone number of the out-of-state owner, who was genuinely and appropriately concerned re status of the situation, and got issues straightened out with the property management team for our imminent arrival.
My husband and i basically liked the vibe of the place; however, it was not very physically comfortable overall, especially for a 6-night stay. we adapted as best we could to numerous issues, and at end of our stay i provided a list of suggested improvements, which could make for a much more pleasant stay for future visitors. property management team replied, informing me they would no longer be managing the property as of a week after our stay. i then supplied the list directly to the owner who expressed appreciation and hope that our stay had been satisfactory. my husband and i were very happy to be in Marfa again after a 10-year absence, and the stay was satisfactory overall.
What a great spot to reset, star-gaze, read and just enjoy Marfa. The studio is spacious and clean, with a fantastic porch for morning coffee or late night star gazing. Would definitely stay here again.
Perfectly simple. This artist loft boasts beautiful views and quiet comfort. The furniture, while functional, is also an artist's unique take on desert living. Offering every amenity you could need, you are certain to enjoy your stay while being close enough to everything but still far enough away to enjoy the city and country side of Marfa.
Very much a beautiful place and the best experience I’ve had at renting any property. Comfortable bed, warm shower, privacy immense and peaceful. Everything you may need is close by as well
If you want to unplug and enjoy some quiet time while still being close to Marfa'a amenities, this is the place. A full, shady porch is the top draw here.
A perfect spot for a solo workcation. Wifi was super fast and reliable, super clean, mattress was comfortable. Would be tough if you had 2+ people trying to work remotely here since it is all one big room, but it was excellent for my situation! Very quiet and calm location--not in the middle of things, but a short drive into town. It is close to the train tracks, so worth bringing ear plugs if you are a light sleeper!
