UPDATE: CUSTER COUNTY, SOUTH DAKOTA FIRE BAN Due to the extreme drought in the area, resulting in fire danger, the Custer County Commissioners passed a Resolution on 3-13-26 to ban all fires and fireworks in Custer County. This Resolution includes fire pits, warming fires, fireworks, and even the use of cigarettes if not in a car or building or standing in an area with no flammable material within 3 feet. This Resolution is in effect indefinitely (until conditions change). Consequences of violating the Resolution will be immediate. Tiny Home and Teeny Home will be removing the firewood/Solo Stoves from the homes and will provide an outdoor smoking area with a proper place to extinguish cigarettes.
Tiny is 11x42 and features full size appliances, full bath, full length deck, two picnic tables, propane grill, and a Solo fire pit, wood provided. The house yard is set aside for guest use only. No through traffic or host visits. There is also a rented "Teeny Home" about 150' from Tiny Home. There is a privacy fence between the homes, and each home has its own access. The property is 8 acres with a tiny creek running through it in the wet season. Guests are welcome to move about the property, but please to not knock down the hay in our field. We mow and put it up in late July, then it is clear for roaming. There is a utility shed behind Tiny for your LAUNDRY needs. Laundry soap, towels, bedding, generic coffee, cookware, dishes, utensils, condiments, and firewood are provided. Please bring your own bath soap, shampoo, and ice. There is a queen bed downstairs, a twin XL bed in the loft, and a queen sofa sleeper. A little mezzanine adjoins the loft bed area, and it has a spare bed. The private yard is ample, and right across from the deck is Black Hills Forest land. Near Tiny Home (about 40 yards) is Teeny Home of the Black Hills (designed for two guests). Teeny has its own private driveway, and there is a privacy fence between the homes. The TV is Roku with Discovery Plus and Netflix installed. Crazy Horse Memorial, Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park, Jewel Cave, Rushmore Cave, Rushmore Adventure Park, Reptile Gardens, and Bear Country are easy drives from the home. On three sides of the 8 acre property is public land (Black Hills Forest), one side is County Road, two sides are public countryside, and one side (over 100 yards away) is a well kept, quiet, 20 acre horse camp. The home is on a county GRAVEL road about six miles from the highway

What a beautiful property! It was perfect for our family of 5. Check in was easy. Wi-Fi and Netflix access made for nice down times between our tourism.
Be close to it all but with a quiet and quaint place to stay just outside of town! This property was perfect for our family of five and our dog. We were able to have space to be outdoors and a comfy tiny home to sleep in at night. We are so glad to have had the chance to stay here!
The location was perfect for our adventures. The kids enjoyed the freedom to roam the adjacent forest land, and nighttime campfires were very enjoyable. The cabin was a great base camp and we enjoyed our stay.
Had a wonderful 3 nights at the Tiny house! Plenty of room for us to spread out. Esp beautiful for star gazing and peaceful quiet. Would definitely stay again!
Great location just outside Custer. The tiny home had everything we needed. Kids enjoyed having their own private space in the loft. We would gladly stay here again!
We had a wonderful time at the Tiny House. The location was great, nice and secluded so you could get away and fully relax. The house was equipped with everything we needed, making the stay very simple and enjoyable! We stayed with our two kids ages 6 & 7 and they loved the loft area and pull out couch for sleeping.
It was a great spot. Big enough for a few friends to have a nice get away and far enough in the country to be able to have peace and starry night view.
We loved our stay. Tranquil location. We loved watching the wildlife. The host was very attentive and helpful. Beautiful surroundings. Near all the hot spots.
We really enjoyed our stay! The remote location is just what we were looking for.
One minor negative-dog hair from previous renters.

About the host
Hosted by Patricia Baumann
We are Tricia and Mark (Hosts). We own and operate a water well system where we live, and we put up hay in July and August for horse owners in the vacation home area. Hosts do keep access to the 8 acres, but an ample yard around the Tiny Home is reserved for the guests, and we do not intrude. Guests also have access to the 8 acres. Please do not trample unmowed hay in the field. We are the busy type, and love our vacation guests. We make a point of giving our guests their privacy, but never hesitate to contact us if you are in need of something!
