We really enjoyed our stay here. The house is very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. We enjoyed being close to the river and a little outside of town, but it was easy to get to Escanaba for groceries, etc.
Beautiful home, perfectly cleaned, and the photos are very representative. We had a wonderful stay and would absolutely stay here again when we’re in the area.
We had a great stay at this property. Everything was as advertised. Close to town but far enough out to get the country feeling. We had fun exploring the UP (kayaking Pictured Rocks, hiking in the national forest, kitch-iti-kipi, Fayette historical park, and visiting countless waterfalls). Kayaking on the river and fishing were great ways to wind down the days.
Great experience! Beautiful property close to town and great getaway for our family. Owners were so helpful and did everything they good to make our stay relaxing and enjoyable! We would highly recommend.

We are so happy you enjoyed our place. Hopefully we will see you again.
Reserved the cabin for the Great Lakes Heavy Equipment and Logging Expo as the Escanaba Sate Fair Grounds. After a long ten hour shift at the show we made our way back to the cabin for a little R&R.....awesome view, relaxing, clean and comfortable!!
Staying at Phil and Sara's cottage was excellent. One of if not the best rentals we have had yet with Vrbo!! Clean, quiet, new, great view of the river. Close enough to town that running in was easy but far enough away that it was private and quiet. Phil and Sara were both also very friendly and accommodating!! We will come back again in the future!!
The place is cute and small. The location was terrible. If you’re looking to be isolated and then the location is fine but if you want to have access to or in close proximity to restaurants and places to eat, this place would not be an ideal location. Me and my three teenagers did not feel comfortable being isolated so we only stayed there one night out of the 3 nights that I booked the place. I don’t want to have to cook while on vacation and so we left the place to go to another place closer into town where restaurants and other activities were in walking distance.
This was our 2nd time staying at Phil's property. He is amazing to work with and prides himself on happy visitors. We caught some nice perch, off the dock and out of the kayaks. It's always a pleasant surprise to find locations that allow dogs, and yet are still clean! All of us with furry family members appreciate the decent place to stay with our WHOLE family. The only downfall is the bed, which of course it's a personal preference, but neither of us found it comfortable at all. There are basic seasonings and dishware, which makes cooking or grilling quite convenient. If you are looking for a nice place, off the beaten path, but yet not far from a town we definitely suggest renting one of the red bridge rentals!
We were struggling to find a pet-friendly place to stay in the area and decided to take a chance on this new listing. It ended up being a great decision. The home has brand-new everything, aside from some cool vintage pieces of furniture and artwork. The owners live nearby and were very responsive to a couple of minor issues (e.g. setting up the Roku TV). They were also very thoughtful with small details around the house to make their first guests feel comfortable and welcome.
The fact that the home is new construction meant there was still a lot of dirt around. This will likely be resolved fairly quickly. The Wi-Fi was inconsistent. One night we streamed a movie with no problem, while struggling with basic internet searches at other times. Again, this might be something that is adjusted in the future.
The spacious porch, with a view of the river through a row of birch trees, is a great place to relax. The large kitchen island and comfortable living room facilitated the family time we were hoping for on vacation. At the same time, after returning from our day trips in the area, this rental felt like home. We would definitely stay here again.

Thank you for being our first guests and for the helpful feedback. We’re so glad you and your family enjoyed your stay. I’m happy to report that our new hydro-seeded lawn is coming in beautifully and we upgraded the internet so future guests can stream multiple devices with no interruptions.
Riverside, quiet, beautiful home, for everyone! With everything you need…
My husband, my 9 & 10 yr old, and my German Shepard all stayed for 4 days on the property. Very quiet and convenient. New, & Comfortable stay for all. The property owners thought of everything. Bring your boat to fish on the river. Or just hit the dock to fish. We enjoyed catching and cooking fish right at the property. We also stopped at Elmers for some fresh perch to add to our fish fry.
Everything you need is very convenient. Meijer & all kinds of restaurants are 15 mins or less away.
Very clean, comfortable, NEW home! Even has firewood, grill, Wi-Fi, cable, etc. lovely getaway for the family. Would definitely come back’
Next time we would fish on the small bay at least one time (supposed to be world class fishing on the bay for walleye and smallmouth!)
Only 2 negatives.... The price was high for what it was, but that's the beauty of a free market. Some clean out near the dock, so you could access the water/kayaking better. Lots of positives... Having our dog with us! Being close to the state fair, as our kiddo was showing for 4H. The small mouth fishing was amazing. Kitchen has what you need! Great local restaurants, friendly community. Phil was pleasant and helpful. The neighborhood dogs are friendly, but do swipe dog toys ;) Thank you for sharing your rental home!
We had an awesome stay on the river! Phillip and Sara are so sweet and attentive to our requests! We spent a couple of days at Picture Rocks National Lakeshore and came back and kayacked, swam and relaxed! My favorite time was coffee on the deck in the mornings. The kids loved the neighborhood dogs. We would go back anytime!
My husband and I spent almost a week at this fantastic home. The house itself had everything we needed, plenty of towels and a well stocked kitchen. They even had extra dish and laundry soap. The layout was perfect with most of the windows facing the beautiful river view. There was more then enough room for the two of us and our dog. The yard was huge with a fire pit and a dock on the river. We also enjoyed the location. It was about a ten minute drive from Escanaba, which has excellent food and a little less than 10 minutes to Gladstone which is a beautiful park with great views of the bay(Lake Michigan). The home is also closely located to Hiawatha national forest and it’s only an hour away from Lake Superior. It made for a perfect base while we explored the U.P
We had to take an emergency trip to the Gladstone area and this property fit my entire family. The bunk beds were perfect for the kids and we were able to have plenty of room for a pack and play. When walking in the place still smelled like new. It was very clean and the island in the kitchen was large enough to have my siblings and parents over for dinner.
This home is perfect for people staying in the Escanaba/Gladstone area. Easy drive to the casino, golf courses, hiking trails & restaurants. The kitchen is well equipped if you want to make some meals at the house. The furniture was comfortable and the view of the river from the back porch was beautiful. Very enjoyable stay & the host was responsive.
A good place for us for our purpose of attending an event with our field trial dogs. Owners were very responsive and property well kept.
Would definitely return.
We really enjoyed our stay. Our trip was part business and pleasure. The house is immaculate. It was the perfect size for the two of us and our two dogs. The owners thought of everything. It was outfitted with everything you would need. The location is quiet and the porch overlooking the Escanaba River is peaceful. We hope the house is available the next time we are in the area!
