Hi Patrick, I truly appreciate you sharing your input and we will certainly take steps to insist that our guests know when an early arrival is not viable. We will also remind them throughout the process that there is an English Basement apartment in the house. I think it's helpful when leaving a response about cleanliness to share with the public, that you walked into the house earlier than scheduled. You and your family came into the house unannounced and without permission hours in advance of your check-in time. I was still at the house cleaning, when you arrived. When you arrived, I was startled by someone coming approaching me in the backyard, as they were exiting my dining room onto the terrace. At that time, I was wiping down the patio furniture. I knew that you and your family would likely spend time outside, as you specifically asked to use the grill. We made significant preparations for your arrival, including making sure that the landscaper came, new hanging perennials and flowering plants throughout the grounds. We put in yard stakes and a hanging sign with "congratulations" signs and chocolates on the dining room table to help ensure that your stay felt celebratory and special. I also just purchased and placed new satin pillow cases on the pillows. Furthermore, on the evening of your arrival the my son, who lives in the English basement apartment offered to leave during your stay. I wish you'd either accepted my son's offer to vacate or let me know there was a concern. We were in communication during your stay and you never mentioned that this was a concern. Please note that the pictures of the rooms provided are the same and did not include any pictures of the lower level apartment. There are more indoor plants than shown in the initial picture. Perhaps, some people are less fond of indoor plants. This is something I need to be mindful of. From your insightful input, I intend on sending guests pictures of the current state of the house and let them know that we will gladly tweak the accommodations to suit their preferences. I highly recommend that you ensure that your next host knows that you are going to arrive early. I truly feel that this would help ensure the best outcome for a wonderful experience.
