My family and I had a wonderful stay at this property! The location was perfect, and the house itself was clean, comfortable, and beautifully decorated. The host was incredibly accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed for a relaxing stay.
We had a great time! There were a couple of hiccups but the property owner went way above and beyond to rectify the issues. We would absolutely stay here again.
We enjoyed our stay at the Hampton River Retreat Deluxe! It's an older home (like the rest of the neighborhood) with close neighbors, but the amenities were complete and up to date, everything was clean and functional, and we found it quiet and comfortable. As a base the location could be better--it's a bit tucked away with only one way in and out of the neighborhood. But being right on the river was a treat, and getting to I-64 or Mercury Blvd wasn't bad.
Thanks very much--would definitely stay again!
The property was very nice and clean. The location was perfect for us, close to downtown and restaurants. The neighborhood was nice and secluded. We would go back for sure!
Visited Virginia to visit our son, who just returned from deployment. House and location were very good. Owner was very easily accessible and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.
The property was just as described. Ali/Stephanie were extremely easy to work with through the whole process including communication throughout our stay. Would definitely consider staying there again.
The house is very nice and very clean. The manager worked quickly to fix a concern with the second floor AC unit. The property manager was kind and very helpful. The house is in the Pasture Point Neighborhood, that is located around the Hampton Courthouse. It’s also close to Fort Monroe. A lot of history in this area.

**Luxury? Not Even Close.**
We arrived expecting what was advertised, only to find a crater in the driveway that likely caused a tire deflation. Not a great start.Inside, the “luxury” quickly fell apart. A dank, overpowering smell lingered despite the strongest air fresheners. The photos online were a complete illusion—cobwebs, cluttered cabinets, broken hangers, and an alarm without a battery. The floors were uneven, rails were poorly constructed, and there were cracks in the foundation. Rusted fixtures and no laundry products as promised completed the disappointment. The bedroom door knob, which seemed like it hadn’t seen an update in decades, fell off every time we shut the door. This left anyone inside trapped until someone passing by could let them out—hardly the kind of problem you expect from a “luxury” stay. When we called the owner, they seemed unfamiliar with our booking, hinting they manage “several properties.” The result was impersonal service that felt as sterile as an automated system.Lesson learned: not all ads are true, and not all hosts know what it means to truly host. This place is in dire need of an update—and luxury it is not.
My family thoroughly enjoyed the nice property. We were provided a wrong address of the property by the portal but it was corrected after speaking to the property owner. The property was clean and was very comfortable for my family members in a age group of 11 to 80. We will love to revisit this property.
The hosts were very gracious and responsive to my bazillions of questions! The property is very spacious and VERY clean. We were able to park two large vehicles in the driveway with no issues. It’s about 35 mins from W&M which was very convenient. I would def recommend this property 10/10 for couples and families.
This house is very spacious and the decor of this house is very nice. The house offers 3 bedrooms upstairs. The house has 2 whole baths one upstairs and one downstairs, which is great.
On the Vrbo commercial they say "The thing that's different about a Vrbo vacation home, you always have the place to yourself." However, this is not so true for this house. The property owner was at a house right in the back yard of of this vacation house.
SO Vrbo YOU MIGHT NEED TO CHANGE YOUR COMMERCIAL, BECAUSE MY FAMILY WAS NOT ALONE. THE PROPERTY OWNER OF THE VACATION HOME WAS RIGHT WITH US. AND SENSE THIS IS THE CASE THE PROPERTY OWNER SHOULD SAY IN THE LISTING THAT THEY WILL BE ON SITE OF THE VACATION HOME IN THE LISTING.
I will remove the mutual frustration of the AC unit dying the day of our arrival for the upstairs, where the bedrooms are located. Zero way the owner could have prevented this, and they lowered our bill to offset the aggravation. No problems at all with how they handled this.
The house was clean, convenient, and everything we needed it to be. Very responsive owner, and overall we'd stay here again.
My only complaint is that the listing makes it seem as if it is directly on the water; there are actually two small houses between it and the small dock and the water. Your view from the ground is of those two structures with a bit of water seen between. From the upstairs, a great water view.
Is that a big complaint? Not at all. We did not go for water views; we went for a wedding and it was excellent for our needs.
My siblings and I were in VA for my nephew's graduation. This house was perfect for our needs. It was very clean, centrally located, quiet. The house is nicely decorated, the beds are comfy, and there are very nice gathering spaces on the main floor. We would definitely stay there again.
Really enjoyed out stay in Hampton. The house if very well done. Great space and plenty of room for the six of us. Kitchen has everything you need for a short stay. The beds and bedding are very comfortable. Location on the water is very nice. All the "extras" provided by the customer are great addition.
