Please Make Sure Our Property Is the Right Fit
This is a private, wooded home on two acres with a natural New England lakefront. There is no sandy beach, and the walk to the lake includes a moderately steep hill. The shoreline is natural, so you'll find rocks, seasonal aquatic plants, and some sediment depending on the time of year. We do not treat the lake with herbicides, and that's one of the things we love about it—it remains a healthy, natural ecosystem.
We absolutely enjoy swimming here, and many of our guests do as well. For added comfort, we recommend bringing water shoes.
If you're looking for a resort-style property with a groomed beach, flat walk to the water, and manicured lake conditions, our home may not be the best match. But if you're looking for privacy, peaceful woods, abundant wildlife, and an authentic New England lake experience, we think you'll have an amazing stay.

Beautiful lake house. The dock with the kayaks and paddle boat made it so much fun for the kids. The dock isnt far from the house but there a decent hill down to it. Totally manageable for most people though. The open house concept kitchen area made it great for everyone to be together.
The property is beautiful and had everything we needed. I loved the big reveal of the kitchen and the many game options we had. The host was very intentional on how they set everything up.
We had a great stay! Clean and very comfortable. The big kitchen was equipped with everything you’d need and had a big table for hosting the whole family.
We stayed here for my nieces wedding. The house was very well appointed in a beautiful setting. The kitchen is huge! We spent most of our time in the house gathered around the table laughing and eating. We had cold raining weather so we did not get to enjoy the grounds as much as I would have liked but it was definitely beautiful. Comfy beds. Living room and sitting room had big comfy sofas. Very clean and tidy. With clear instructions for check in and out. The host were very accommodating. I loved this home.
We had a wonderful stay at this Lake Chamberlain property and would recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway. The setting is absolutely beautiful. The lake views, abundant bird life, and lack of noise and light pollution made for such a relaxing vacation. We enjoyed fishing from the dock, using the paddle boat, and simply spending time outdoors. The large deck with plenty of seating was one of our favorite features. The house is very spacious, comfortable, and well-suited for families. We appreciated the welcoming common areas, games, books, and watercraft available for guests to enjoy. The property fits the bill for a relaxing lake vacation. The house has the comfortable, lived-in feel of a place that has been enjoyed by many families over the years. We noticed a few minor cleanliness issues, a few areas showing some wear, and the occasional lake bug indoors. Just things to note, as they were minor compared to the overall experience. The natural beauty, peaceful atmosphere, and comfortable gathering spaces are the stars of this property. We made wonderful memories here and left hoping we could come back soon! Thank you for sharing your home with us!
Owner was very responsive to questions but property does not have a good swimming situation. Also, previously reported issues were accurate - no decent fry pan and odd collection of kitchen cooking items, updates needed in bathrooms and kitchen cabinets, many small items could be repaired (broken wallplates etc), all filters on air conditioners need to be replaced and filters moldy, challenging access to water front - very natural as represented but results in unsafe footing. Deck was awesome, umbrella cloth needs to be replaced so didn’t use (many insect nests). Since we were looking for swimmable waterfront, it did not meet our expectations. We didn’t even feel comfortable letting our dog into the water as we didn’t want him to track black sludge into the house. Closets, cupboards, etc. were cluttered and disorganized. This is our 10th local waterfront rental and the most expensive one so far. It ranked 10th overall including the house so not a rate issue.Heather was very nice as the owner but renters should be better informed from both honest reviews from others and the descriptions.

I would like to clarify a few points for future guests.
This reservation was made in March, yet no questions about the lake or swimming conditions were asked until one week before arrival. At that time, I answered every question honestly, explained that this is a very natural lakefront—not a sandy beach—recommended water shoes, and even sent additional photos so there would be no surprises.
The standing water shown in your photo was the result of an unusual weather event. We received approximately 8 inches of rain over three days immediately before and during your stay, creating conditions that are not typical. So everything was wet and mushy.
Our listing accurately represents both the home and the waterfront with detailed descriptions and numerous photos. If someone is looking for a sandy beach or a newly renovated home, our property may simply not be the right fit, and that is completely okay. What you see in the listing is exactly what you can expect.
The kitchen is fully stocked with a wide variety of cookware, and our home is located on two wooded acres, so insects and seasonal spider webs are a natural part of the environment despite regular maintenance.
We work hard to provide an honest, transparent listing and encourage guests to review the photos and description carefully and ask questions before booking to ensure our property is the right fit for their vacation. You clearly did not.
What a great location and warm cozy home for our Thanksgiving Dinner! Centrally located to our family members all over New England the home was welcoming, tastefully appointed with seasonal accessories and welcoming to our overnight guests. Cooking a large meal for 16, we had everything we needed - place settings, pots, pans, utensils and bakeware! Two cozy sitting areas added to our comfort. Our host thought of everything!
We booked this for our friends to stay here while attending our wedding. The place was gorgeous, immaculate, and gave them plenty to do (including kayaking!) while we got ready for the wedding and took photos!
We had a wonderful stay at Heather's! There was plenty of room for everyone, and the house was perfect for big meals and lots of time out on the deck and by the water!
We had such a wonderful time celebrating our Mom’s 95th birthday! Enough room for all of us. The kitchen and deck allowed for us to be together with a lot of space. And the lake with all the boats! A great time was had by all : )

This was truly a beautiful spot. I’m so glad we found this place for our weekend in Woodstock. Heather was super helpful and communicative and I’m sure this place will top any other lodging you might find in the area.
My husband, Dan, and I live in the area and are Entrepreneurs. We have a horse farm 10 minutes down the road from this house. We love this part of the country and we love living here!
Why they chose this property
This property started as a learning center for my Coaching business. As Covid hit and things slowed down, we decided to rent it and share it's beauty, with people who love to travel!
What makes this property unique
It's private, spacious, and everyone says it has a really good energy and feel to the place. I agree. You will love all the things in nature our home has to offer!
Please note** We have well water and not city water. This water is hard. We do have a water softening system and it has been tested and is safe to drink and shower in. The toilets and tub have been stained - we have tried (and are continuing to try) products that will remove the stains. If you want to bring your own drinking water you can, but the water is safe to drink.
