Have you ever slept on a floating bed, levitated a planet with a wand, played wizard's chess, spoken with a bird house, watched a heron hunt, crawled through a halfling door or fed goats by hand? At the Wizard's Roost you can do this plus much more. Animate a Pegasus, sample a Spider Crisp, go on a treasure hunt or find fairy houses all while staying in an A-C cabin with a full private bath. Built on the mythical site of Yarvard Hale School of Magic, this get away places you inside a dream. The space This is not a large space, although I have had people stay for a week or longer and given me great reviews. The farm itself offers plenty of room to stretch out. If you need a larger space please consider the SteamPunk Bunk House. Guest access First floor, private entrance. Other things to note In order to preserve water and offer a cost saving option I encourage my guests to bring their own sheets and towels. I can provide them for a fee of $20. (How does this save me money??? The alternative is that I include the $20 in the base price.) Please let me know either way. One Queen Size bed two smaller than twin beds.
I rarely carry my phone when I'm on the property, thus calling me is the least effective way of communicating. Please use the Vrbo message thread or knock on my door if it's urgent.

I stayed here for the 2026 Natchaug Epic gravel bike ride, and it was an ideal location, close to the start line. A charming property with a friendly host.
Absolutely lovely stay! One of the most fun and joyful little places we’ve ever stayed. Michael was a treat and very welcoming. We’re already planning our next stay with friends.
We had a delightful experience at this charming and welcoming property and would highly recommend. Our host was outstanding and we enjoyed talking with him.
My kids loved all the "magic"(even the grumpy teenager thought it was cool) loved meeting the goats/sheep. We especially loved meeting the farm dog!

Although we booked the Wizard’s Roost, due to unforeseen circumstances, we stayed in the Steampunk room, which was awesome! So creative! There are lots of clever surprises to explore. The whole place was very comfortable, with lots of amenities, especially the full kitchen. My sister can’t wait to tell everyone about this place!
Loved staying here while visiting family in the area. Our kids adored seeing the animals on the property & experiencing the “magic” the property owner installed/created in this location & shared with us! Highly recommend.
I stayed with my son-in-law. We came up from Tennessee to. Sell inherited property from a family death. The property was clean and the surrounding area was very peaceful.
Michael was thoroughly communicative throughout the process. The space was thoughtfully built with many surprise elements, definitely perfect for anyone at any age with a penchant for the fantastic!
Cute and fun spot in the country. Very quiet. Room was clean and had everything we needed. Beds comfy. Nice property. Very friendly owner. A bit dark at the top of the driveway if you come in at night watch for the turn.
The Wizard Roost was a ton of fun. We had fun exploring the room’s hidden gems and the woodland trails. The room was cozy and though it was cold outside, the heat was warm and the blanket plenty warm. Wizard chess was a hoot. Be prepared to greet the goats and sheep, and to possible get poop on
Great, Fun Place for Kids and the Kid in All of Us!
The Wizard's Roost was just as advertised. A quirky, whimsical place that offers all of the basic amenities for a peaceful, quiet stay. I was passing through on a 2-day drive and it was just what I needed to relax for that evening/night. Not far from restaurants or stores. The host, Michael, greeted me with Elliott upon my arrival and made sure I was settled in. It's a rustic place, with very interesting decor. If you can tap into your inner child you will enjoy your stay.
When I travel with my grandchildren. I always want them to have a special experience. Wizard's Roost is a unique get away with added New England charm. Delightful magical details tucked in at every corner. The trails on the property were relaxing and adventurous. The owners were attentive and went out of their way from time to time for brief magical moments of entertainment for my granddaughter. Their creativity and craftsmanship made this such a memorable stay! What a gem!
We stayed 1 night at Wizards Roost and my kids have never enjoyed a stay more. The pictures cannot convey the joy all the contraptions inside the room bring. There were secret messages, stories, tricks and pranks everywhere and my kids spent all day pretending to be magicians. We loved visiting the animals, exploring the trails and pond. Michael set up a fire for us and we watched birds swoop over the pond. It was so refreshing seeing my kids explore. We want to come back and stay in his treehouse property soon! Thank you Michael!

Sonja booked 4 days in my strongest month, then canceled 2 days and didn't show up for the 2 others all last minute. this prevented me from booking those days to others. she sent her daughter (for one of the days, she paid for) she showed up for an hour then announced her partner was having asthma attacks and wouldn't be staying. she then expected a full refund. if you have serious asthma don't book a farm.

About the host
Hosted by Michael Underhill
This is my retirement from the Toy industry. I spent many years working on Star Wars, Play Doh, GI Joe, DC Comics, The Crash Dummies and loads of other stuff. My units are just big toys with lots of surprises. My wife is a world class painter with a focus on farm animals. We love to get to know our guests (provided they want to get to know us)
Why they chose this property
This is rural New England without the drive, yet Boston, Hartford, Providence and Worchester are all within reach. Also a great midway point for Northern New England trips.
What makes this property unique
The Wizard's roost is filled with fun magical surprises designed to delight. Or hike the trails and find even more oddities.
