Stayed for 5 nights in July and we were very impressed wiyh this property, easy to find and check in. Loads of.living space and exceptional views from the wraparound aceoss to Denman.and Hornby Island. Beds comfy and everything you could need in the kitchen. Walking distance to.nice pub. Very quiet. Owners very quick to respond to questions. Would definitely stay again.
We were on a spring break family get away with our young children (3 & 5) and this property was perfect for our needs. We loved the view that we could enjoy after the kids were in bed, and the quick walk down to the beach was super convenient! The place was clean and well stocked for all our cooking needs. And the sea food from the marina restaurant was amazing!!
Quiet, safe area overlooking the water and Islands
The quality of this accommodation is excellent with attention to detail. We both enjoyed our stay overlooking and exploring this beautiful part of Vancouver Island. The road links are excellent to the area as are the routes to Island Ferries. We had a brilliant day out on the ‘Supply Boat’ from Port Alberni.
This was our second time visiting this lovely location!
The accommodation was bright, spacious and clean! We enjoyed walking on the beaches and meeting the neighbours as everyone was very friendly. The grocery story in Bowser is close and Parksville is only 30 minutes away for a little day trip. We look forward to returning next year!
We were delighted that we were able to return to The Outlook for a 2nd time. This time, for a summer stay. The charm of the decor remains the same but you can see there were minor upgrades and upkeep that keep the property looking in tip top shape. Communication with Alex and Gail was an easy process, they answered questions or concerns like a friend without delay. To say this place is a hidden gem is an understatement. Our family once again enjoyed the comforts of home. They only difference is, our real home doesn't have that ocean view. If there is any negative about our experience, it's that we had to leave. Book well in advance if you want to experience the beauty of The Outlook.
This was our second time staying at this location. The first time was during a particularly rainy spring, so coming in the summer was a different experience. This time we could really make use if the beautiful deck and enjoy the view (the view is still great from inside when it was rainy). We could also enjoy swimming at the beach instead of just beach combing! The location is quiet and located far enough from larger centers to really slow down and relax, while still having the attractions of Coombs/Parksville close enough to enjoy. The hosts are communicative and thoughtful, they even had a fantastic dropped off because they thought we might be too warm (we didn't end up needing it, but it was thoughtful nonetheless). We had a wonderful family get away, and with two young kids we appreciate having no downstairs neighbours (especially when the 7 year old hurt her ankle the day before we arrived!).
Fantastic location and the property is well appointed with everything you need to enjoy a much deserved break. The property is well kept and the owners are very easy to work with and communication is great. It is close to the water (for kayaks, paddle board), parks (beaches and trails) and fun places to visit (Combs, Parksville). Can’t wait to go back again!
Large, bright, spacious suite with many extras. Owners are extremely helpful and considerate. Scenic view across the water to a little island with red roofed lighthouses.. Back stairs to the beach are challenging so be extra cautious! Lovely walk along the beach on both sides of the peninsula when the tide is out! Watch for the large sandbar on the outside shore, ( as opposed to the bay side). The Pub serves upscale Pub food. Many types of boats at the nearby marina. There is a very eclectic mix of homes along the road and the neighbours are friendly! The grocery store in Bowser has a good selection, including a couple of freezers with M & M Foods frozen meals! Excellent place for a vacation especially if you wish to get away from the busy city for awhile!
This is a place we would go back to in a minute. The view alone was worth the stay. Great location with good access to lots of things to do but also very quiet and relaxing.
We are a family of four who have rented vacation homes through VRBO in a multitude of locales. This was our first family excursion since the start of the pandemic. We had been to Victoria several times in the past but had never been to other areas of Vancouver Island. We had the privilege of staying at this beautiful home in Deep Bay for three nights. One of our priorities of our trip was to get some rest and relaxation -we can honestly say that this house was absolutely perfect for what we wanted. The communication with the homeowner was prompt, friendly and concise. The house was clean, comfortable and had all the necessary amenities. The kitchen was well-stocked with tableware & cookware and we loved the wood-burning stove/fireplace. The location allowed us to take quick trips to Qualicum Beach, Parksville, Coombs & Nanaimo. The house had a beautiful view of the Strait and was a quick walk down the hill to a quiet stretch of beach. Our family truly enjoyed walks on the shoreline each and every morning & evening, enjoying the scenery, taking photos and beachcombing for shells & sand dollars. We would not hesitate to highly recommend this home to others and hope to return there for a visit in the future!
The irony of writing a good review is that the place you enjoy will be booked more, thus limiting your own chances of booking your stay in the future...this place is phenomenal. If you are looking for a quiet place to enjoy family time, stare at the ocean, watch the sun rise or moon kiss the ocean with its moon beams, this is the place. The property is clean, the hosts respond immediately with your questions and there is plenty of firewood for those colder nights if you do not visit in the summer. We were here over spring break. It did not matter that it was raining on some of the nights. We made our own meals and played board games. The beach is a stones throw away. I would recommend picking up groceries in Naniamo or Parksville before driving in. This place should be a secret. Top marks for the hosts who keep it so nice for all of us to enjoy.
