Spacious Chalet on the Blue Ridge Parkway - Early Check-in and Late Check-out!

Escape from the world to the top of Groundhog Mountain at our charming 3-bedroom, 2-bath chalet just steps from the Blue Ridge Parkway. Spend the mornings sipping coffee on the porch while taking in the southern view of North Carolina. Wake up early enough and you'll see why our community is called 'Doe Run' -- there are deer EVERYWHERE. Located just a few meters from the Blue Ridge Parkway, this tranquil community has lovely parkgrounds, a tennis court, basketball court and walking trails for your recreational leisure.

The chalet is tastefully decorated with nostalgic and antique pieces placed throughout (though our 1940s looking radio is conveniently equipped with Bluetooth), creating a cozy and warm atmosphere. The space consists of a large living/dining/kitchen area combo with floor to ceiling windows along the entire south facing wall. At our elevation of 3500 feet, you can see halfway across the state of North Carolina on a clear day. The chalet is equipped with both a telescope and binoculars so you can easily enjoy the views. The oak paneled living room has a wood burning fireplace along with a Smart TV and Roke for some late night Netflix binging. There are two en-suite bedrooms and one large loft so it can easily sleep six people. One bedroom has a king bed and private bathroom, the other bedroom has two twins, full bathroom and a desk area that’s perfect for a zoom call or quiet space for getting some work done. Our upper loft area has two twin beds and a winding spiral ladder installed for easy access.

The spacious porch is furnished with wicker furniture and seating for five and is perfect for quiet evenings watching the sun set or the moon rise. Fireflies abound and at dawn and dusk you can see timid deer approach the grounds of the area foraging for food. We have two large bird feeders which allow for excellent bird watching from the comfort of the chalet (did we mention there are floor to ceiling windows?). In the summer, hummingbirds abound! There are also numerous species of birds and other animals ( groundhogs, raccoons, bears) that one can spot from time to time. It truly is a magical and serene retreat.

Other things to note:
There are around 15 steps leading from the parking area to the front door. Please keep this in mind when booking.

Our accommodations are comfortable and cosy, and we strive to provide a pleasant experience, but we are not a five star resort. We are also a pet free space. Kindly leave your loving furry friends home! Smoking is permitted on our porch but not inside the chalet.

Early Check-in:
Early check-in is available to guests starting at 9am. Early check-in is only available when the day before your check-in is vacant when booking. This happens more often than not. If you are booking and the day prior is vacant, you can assume that early check-in is available.

Late Check-out:
Late check-out is available till 4pm. This is only available to guests when the day after checkout is vacant when booking. If you are booking and the day after you leave is showing as vacant, you can assume that late check-out is available.
