About this property
Beautiful Sunsets & Amazing Stars in every season, Family-owned gem
We love reading our guest book and reviews. People make lasting memories here, and that means so much to us!
Moo Meadow is family-owned and, until 2020, was solely our family's retreat. For that reason it is very well-appointed, very well-equipped and homey, comfortable and welcoming. Comfortable beds, plush mattress-toppers, top-quality bedding and pillows, atmospheric lighting - all ensure a comfortable stay.
This is a charming, Appalachian-style log cabin with the absolute best views on the mountain. Only 1 mile from the Blue Ridge Parkway. Peaceful, quiet and welcoming- a serene location with beautiful views from the covered back deck of rolling hills, meadows and Buffalo Mountain. The cabin has 2 bedrooms (one ground floor, one loft), a fully-equipped kitchen, dining area, full bathroom with shower, washer and dryer.
The cabin is a great location for hikers, fishermen (less than 1/2 mile walk to the stocked Dan River), golfers (Amongst the great nearby courses, The Highland at Primland ranks among the world's best by many notable golf publications), writers or artists seeking a creative retreat, and families or friends just looking for a base to explore the area. There are local wineries, breweries and distilleries. There are also great restaurants, and a Friday night Blue Grass showcase in Floyd (just one of the many charming small mountain-towns nearby). Or, maybe you'll just want to relax in the cabin or take in the views from the covered back deck. If you are like us, once you arrive, your troubles seem to melt away, and you won't want to leave! There are also many very quiet and unspoiled gravel roads, trails and creeks both on the property itself and very close-by to enjoy.
Since 2021, all of the major appliances have been replaced - AC and Heat Unit, Gas-log set, Washer, Dryer, Stove, Microwave, Dishwasher, Fridge-Freezer, TV, Home Theater - all high-quality upgrades. The furniture, inside and out, is comfortable and atmospheric. We chose everything here for our own comfort and our guests benefit from our creature-comfort needs! You’ll find everything you need here; DVDs, books and magazines, games and puzzles; all of the high-quality dishware, cookware, and utensils you might need; drip and Keurig coffee makes with gold filters, laundry soaps, food storage (foil, baggies, etc), toilet paper, napkins and paper towels; extra blankets and towels. All you need to bring is food, clothes and toiletries!
Washer and dryer, a/c and heat, whole-house water filter, a rustic living area with gas-log fire, ample seating, flat-screen TV and DVD with home theater, high-speed internet and wi-fi, and beautiful wood floors and wooden blinds throughout. The cabin was built in 2007, is in excellent condition throughout, and contains many locally hand-crafted items of furniture and locally-found bric-a-brac and craft objects. There is an outdoor Tru Infrared electric grill.
The cabin placement provides privacy, while still being close enough to provide the comfort of neighbors without disturbing your peaceful getaway. Removed, but not remote, secluded but not isolated, this is one of 26 cabins on 20+ acres.
Maximum occupancy is five. The cabin has one king-sized bed, one queen-sized, and one twin-sized bed. Linens are included, and beds are made. A small additional nightly fee applies for bookings with more than 4 guests.
A 10% discount will automatically be applied for bookings of 7 days or more. A 20% discount will automatically be applied for bookings of one month. Maximum length stay is one month. Parties are not allowed.

**Note added May 1, 2026. Due to the platform's algorithm, it looks like we have a high cancellation rate. We've cancelled one booking in six years, and we cancelled within ten minutes of the booking. This happened because we tried to sync our calendar with another well-known platform, but there is a learning curve, and we messed up. Because the percentage is calculated based on the previous twelve months, and Nov-March are our slow months, our error makes it seem like we're bad hosts. Please read our reviews. They tell a much better and more accurate story. :)** We genuinely strive to be the best hosts and the best property you will ever experience.

Why they chose this property
My parents bought this cabin before it was built in 2007. In 2015, Alex and I bought it and assumed responsibility for the care of this family retreat. In 2020, we opened it up to you! It has been lovingly decorated and maintained for our enjoyment, and yours. We've stayed in many "empty shells" over the years, without warmth, welcome, or character. We don't want that for ourselves (we still go to the cabin as much as we can!) and we don't want that for you. When we stay, we feel transported into a world with all of the creature comforts we are accustomed to, but without the stresses we left behind. Our goal is for you to have that same experience. On the very important but less romantic side of things, we've made some nice technical updates, too. The cabin, chinking, and decks were stained and updated in 2019. In 2020, we had a dehumidifier installed and had the crawl space fully encapsulated, which ensures that the cabin above it is dry and mold free, and it helps to maintain an energy-efficient, comfortable temperature throughout the year. In 2021 we installed a new gas log set, a new AC/heatpump, a whole-house water filter, new washer and dryer, new kitchen appliances; fridge, oven/stove, microwave and dishwasher. Oh, and new butcher block counter tops, too!
