Northwoods Guest Cabin & porch overlooking private woods and stream
Northwoods Guest Cabin is a tiny-house with a sleeping loft. The steps to the sleeping loft are steep, so if you have mobility issues, this may not be the best choice for you. The back porch overlooks the woods and a flowing stream. There's a small kitchen and bathroom. The house has a private entrance as it is a stand-alone guesthouse. There is WiFi, though it can be finicky up here. The kitchen has basic spices, pots/pans, and dishes. There are starbucks coffee and tea set-ups. The bathroom is stocked with toiletries and towels. Note that there isn't a dishwasher or washer/dryer. You'd be close to cross-country skiing and hikes at the Craftsbury Outdoor Center, Craftsbury has two general stores. There are three public libraries in our small town. Nearby, we have eclectic museums; Bread and Puppet Museam and Theater, The Museam of Everyday Life, The Highland Center of the Arts, The Old Stonehouse Museam is a cool destination in summer as is Craftsbury Historical Society on the Common.
We are a 40-minute drive to Lake Willoughby State Park, 30 minutes from Elmore State Park, 10 minutes from Barr Hill Conservation Area , 45 minutes from Stowe restaurants, including Trapp Lodge and bike path. A bit further to Mt. Mansfield and from Jay Peak.
There are multiple dining options. The Black Bird Bistro is the favored gathering place, though the Highland Lodge serves food as does both of our General Stores. We have a seasonally delightful option, Hinterland, which features 1st class homemade food as well as selling the most eclectic sundry of items anywhere around. Willey's is a favorite gathering place for groceries, hardware/clothing...with the motto, If You Can't Find It at Willey's, You Don't Need It. Parker Pie in Glover (over the mountain) features a wild array of draft options and The Best Pizza. Hardwick is about 20 minutes from the cabin and features the primo coffee house in the area, The Front Seat. There's also the best breakfast at the Diner in Hardwick, and Positive Pie is consistently delicious. Morristown also has many shopping and dining options and is about a 30 minute drive. Greensboro, where Willey's is, is about 10 minutes away as is the Farmstead Brewery. Barton, 30 minutes away, is where Parker Restaurant is and offers more casual but finer dining. We love it there. You'd be about an hour from Jay Peak and all it has to offer.
I can go on, but I'll stop there. For a town of 1000, I'm struck by the richness of beauty, recreational options, culture, and rural landscape right here! Enjoy!

The hosts were very welcoming and responsive when we had questions! The cabin was so cozy and well-equipped - the perfect getaway and home base to come back to after skiing. Our dog had a great time as well and our hosts were very thoughtful about her. Thank you for a lovely time!
Everything was very clean. Nice setup in the small kitchen. Loft bed was comfortable. Great location - back small deck with chairs overlooking their small brook. A little too cold to sit outside in December, I'm definitely coming back with my wife in Spring. Great place for a couple to get away
We had a great stay in this beautifully made, wonderfully comfortable house. We loved every aspect of it and are making plans to return for a stay in the snow.
This is a great spot for a peaceful weekend. The cabin is bright and comfortable, and the hosts are friendly and welcoming. Beautiful farms and mountains surround the property.

Thanks, Jeffery. I am happy that you enjoyed your stay in the Northwoods Guest Cabin. We love hosting people, it's been a joyful experience being a host on VBRO. We aim to be 100% tidy and to cover all bases of comfort! We'd love to host you again any time.
This property was gorgeous! My husband and I needed a quiet and peaceful place to just rest. We didn't want to hear traffic noise or neighbors. It was perfect for us and we came away refreshed.
The stairs to the bed were challenging in the night, but we did fine.
Thank you!
Gwen and Larry were excellent hosts from start to finish! The property was everything as described, plus more. The communication with the hosts were direct and speedy with responses, an attribute that made our weekend even more enjoyable! From the cute landscape surrounding the cabin, to every aspect inside that was available for us. I look forward to hopefully making more trips back to this quaint destination for an escape from the hustle of Jersey!

Peter! It really feels great to hear that you enjoyed your stay. I do hope that you are able to swing by and see Vermont during summer's glory, autumn's nostalgia and winter's magic.
I visited Craftsbury with my 15-year-old who participated in a 1 week internship at a local museum. The cabin was just the right size for the two of us to spend quality time together while each taking our own space when we needed it. Our hosts were fantastic: welcoming and friendly. The kitchen was well appointed. Listening to the babbling brook and breathing the fresh air made my morning coffee into a spiritual experience! Gwen and Larry made sure we had everything we needed. The beds were comfy and the decor complimented the natural beauty all around us. It was easy to regulate the temperature, (during a heat wave) there was plenty of good lighting for reading and the wifi was great.
This sweet little cabin is absolutely delightful! It is small, but it contains everything you could need, and if it is not there...the hosts are extremely accommodating and helpful. There was a vast array of books, maps, and brochures in the cabin for all things local to the area. They came in handy during our stay, as our cell service was very sketchy, so having the maps was great. The bed was very comfortable, the shower was hot and had great pressure, the everything in the cabin worked as it should. A real treat is sitting out on the back porch in the evening and listening to the babbling brook below. A truly peaceful spot to relax. You can tell that Gwen and Larry really put their hearts in to this cabin, and the property itself. Staying there, amongst the stuff they have collected over time and placed in the cabin, made it feel very homey and comfortable. We will for sure stay here again when in the area. Also...BONUS, they have a super cute and friendly dog !!
Gwen and Larry are very kind and have great suggestions and tips! The property is soo gorgeous and picturesque. It was such a just waking up to the view of the fall color leaves right outside the window and a wonderful time in the evening just sitting by the gas stove!
If you are there to mountain bike around northern Vermont, this is a great central spot with access to the Kingdom Trails being 40 minutes away and most of the trails around Stowe being 30 to 40 minutes away!
The bed was absolutely lovely and cozy and they had plenty of extra blankets and sheets. Also the kitchen had the standard kitchen supplies! All in all, this is a fantastic cabin in Vermont and I cannot wait to stay here again!
This is a beautifully crafted & furnished guest house. The hosts are friendly, kind & helpful. The Wi-Fi is very fickle so be prepared to enjoy the peaceful setting & read your email in town. We hope to stay here again.
I stayed at the Northwoods Guest House last weekend. The property is a quiet spot in a rural area. The cottage is very clean, well maintained, and with many personal touches and amenities. It is perfect for one person or a couple. As the property description states the steepness of the ladder to the sleeping loft would be a problem for someone with mobility issues. It took a bit of getting used to on my part. There are detailed instructions on the table mention the fickleness of the Wi-Fi. As in most places in rural Vermont Wi-Fi and cell service are very problematic.
We are midwesterners (St. Louis) who were lucky enough to end up here in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. It was a long and winding road.
Why they chose this property
We ended up in Craftsbury due to some 'wild luck'. We were looking for property in Vermont and someone told us about a piece of property that wasn't yet listed as 'for sale'. When we came to look at it, we couldn't believe we could actually buy this slice of heaven.
What makes this property unique
We are rural enough to make it feel like we've stepped back in time 100 years, yet are in fact less than a 1/2 days drive away from Boston and Montreal and a bit further to NYC.
