We thoroughly enjoyed the house and the beautiful neighborhood, especially breakfasts on the screened porch. The hosts seemed to think of everything, and were very responsive when we had questions. We would definitely stay there again.
This is a beautiful property, inside and out, located in a well appointed neighborhood. We had a few issues( usual kind of things) that the owners responded to very quicky and got resolved. Would definitely stay here again.
We enjoyed the charm of the home and the neighborhood.
Six adults had plenty of space to relax and enjoy our weekend. We would highly recommend this property for a stay in Delaware.
This property is well-equipped and in a good location. There is enough room for the family to spread out. We had a small issue with the door locks, but the owner was quick to help us out. Will definitely stay here again when I’m Wilmington.
The house was perfect for our group, with three bathrooms and separation of the sleeping areas. We took walks along Bancroft Walkway and felt very safe. House was clean and in great repair.

I'm happy I was able to resolve the 3rd bathroom issue right away!
The house remains our favorite among the many VRBO rentals we have used over almost fifteen years. Even cooked an elaborate dinner for 9 in the well-stocked kitchen.
We needed a property to accommodate 4 generations (ages 1-89) for a local family event. The home is in a superb location (quick access to I-95) and on a tree-lined, walkable neighborhood with warm and welcoming decor.
Perfect location to explore Dupont estates, Brandywine River Museum, Longwood Gardens and Mt Cuba. Lovely neighborhood and house. Friendly people. We appreciated the quick response to an issue we had an issue our first night.
The house was perfect for our group of six adult family members. Three full bathrooms was the primary selling point for selecting the house. The neighborhood and screen porch were great benefits. Early morning coffee on the screen porch made for a great start to the day.
We’ve stayed in VRBOs in many places here and abroad. You won’t find a better one. The house, the location, and the host . . . Amazing!

Perfect place for our stay in Wilmington.
The Bancroft Cottage was just as described in the advertisement. We stayed there for one week for our daughter's wedding at Winterthur. A great place to entertain out of town guests and then relax afterwards. Easy to get to downtown Wilmington , Philly and all the Brandywine Valley arts venues. Highly recommend. Easy access from I-95. I would rent here again.

Loved the location of this place, beautiful quiet neighborhood
Overall it was very comfortable. I would say the linens need to be upgraded a bit, they were pretty used. The bathrooms dont really have anywhere to hang or put your toiletries while using them but the water pressure was great!
We had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Rooster house. The secret kid’s room off the bedroom was PERFECT for our almost 2 year old. We all slept so well! House had everything we needed and such a fantastic neighborhood. Appreciated the price, location, amenities, and communication. A+
Quiet neighborhood. Side screened porch was the best room in the house. Fun to watch the dog walkers. Very close to attractions. Visited Winterthur, Longwood Gardens, Hagley Museum, Read House & Gardens. Odessa and New Castle are charming historic towns both with colonial taverns with good food. Columbus Inn is within walking distance with excellent food. House was well equipped. Beds were comfortable. Great place to stay. Highly recommend.

Great location for a nice educational vacation
Bancroft cottage is everything the owners profess it to be. Excellent location, beautifully decorated with all the top shelf amenities. Comfortably slept and housed a family of 6.
We were able to enjoy DC, Baltimore, Philadelphia and other parts of Pennsylvania. A vacation filled with early American history.
The owners were very attentive to the needs of the property. We would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone wanting a home away from home.

If you like American History you might want to consider staying in our HomeAway property (3319952) in Rhode Island. It's the oldest house on the mainland of RI built by my 7th and 8th great grandfather in 1677.
The house was clean and comfortable. We really liked the screened-in side porch. It is located in a quiet neighborhood that was easy to get into and out of. There is a binder with all the info you need to know to find things. Therefore, it helps to check it out. Our host was great. We had a few questions and he was always prompt in getting back to us. We felt the location was wonderful because it was close to almost all of the places we wanted to visit, such as Longwoods Gardens and the Dupont estates.

Loved it!
We stayed at this house for 2 weeks while our daughter was having surgery and it was just what we needed! The house is in a beautiful neighborhood, close to parks, a library, a playground, restaurants, and shops. It was cozy and welcoming. We all loved the the screened-in porch, too.
We cant say enough about the owners! They were wonderful to work with and always did their best to make our stay the best it could be.
Thank you for such a wonderful experience!
We we’re given a wrong code to unlock the door, so it definitely added unnecessary stress after a long day travel. I really loved the location, it’s a safe and beautiful neighborhood and very close to DuPont estates and gardens. The kitchen and bathroom are fully stocked we had more than what we needed. We are family of four, so we didn’t have to use the room in basement
As a retired Air Force officer, I have lived away from my Delaware family for over 30 years. I’ve stayed w family during every one of my trips home until this trip. My kids are college age and we just needed our own space during the crazy Christmas festivities. This property was absolutely perfect. We had plenty of room, great sleep and the house was a super cozy place to retire after socializing all day. Will definitely rent this place again on one of my future trips home! Happy 2024!!
We have nearby older relatives without children, so we have tried to visit them more regularly. Staying at a hotel with two teen-agers and a 20-something became too much. This year, we planned a 10-day stay and rented this house. It was a a great choice. The property is in historic part of Wilmington, and the house fit right in, with a well landscaped outdoors and a nice, time-appropriate interior. A wonderful screened in porch, perfect to avoid the summer mosquitos. A nice launching point to visit relatives in town, head to Philadelphia, see South Jersey and make a reasonable drive to the beach. The owners were responsive about a change in reservation and questions we had before and during the stay.
This is what you want every vacation rental to be--a lovely and beautifully maintained house in a great neighborhood. Better than expected!
