Everything was as shown in description and pictures. House needs a thorough cleaning. Two small things to fix are kitchen faucet leaks and the handrail at pool is held down by one bolt, others are missing. Danger for kids and older adults. Location was great and proximity to beach couldn’t be better. The golf cart was a huge hit ! We would rent again.

Perfect beach location

Very nice for growing family. Pool very clean. Plenty of outdoor furniture. Two refrigerators. Only complaint was that the oven did not get very hot so we only used it once.

Hi Susan, we sincerely apologize for this issue. I looked through our records, and nothing was reported during your stay. This home is routinely sprayed, but warm summer months can draw them inside. If we had known, we would have sent a pest control company out immediately and will be doing so now that we have seen the review, as no other guests or staff have reported this issue to us yet. If you have any concerns about your stay, please feel free to contact us.

Quite beach getaway. Not a busy beach town

The house was nice and easily accommodates a lot of guests. Well-kept interior. Oak Island is a quiet beach town. A little too quiet for our personal taste. It's mostly just beach houses, a handful of restaurants, and a couple of grocery stores within 10-15 minutes. This place is great if you just want a beach vacation and to mostly make meals at the house. Golf is nearby, but not the typical beach tourist traps like in Myrtle Beach, so make sure it's the right destination for you. Also, we have an electric vehicle and charging stations on the island are few and slow. Bring a mobile charger to use at the house if this applies to you. Complaints: -Spotted cockroaches in the kitchen and master bathroom. -The loud humming from the pool pumps of this house and the adjacent ones really took away from the ocean peacefulness when using the decks or sleeping with the windows open. -The TVs in the two master suites didn't work.

We are glad that you overall enjoyed your stay at the property you rented. I do not see in your reservation where you notified us of the pest control issue. In the warmer months they will appear and if we had been notified we would've sent pest control out to take care of the issue immediately. Same with the issue with the TVs. Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do to lessen the noise of the pool pumps. We are glad you still enjoyed your vacation. Thank you, Better Beach Rentals

Good location, poor communication

The property was essentially as expected based on the pictures. It was adequate for our stay but it definitely isn't luxurious. The furniture isn't the most comfortable but it was okay. The good: We paid extra to have the pool heated for our November stay, and the pool was nice and warm for our kids to swim. The house location is great being right on the water. Many bedrooms and bathrooms mean the house can comfortably accommodate a large group. The bad: The beds are NOT made when you arrive; you have to put sheets on every single bed you plan to use (sheets are provided, just to be clear). The towels are very old and low quality, almost threadbare; they're also mis-matched colors. Plumbing fixtures and bathrooms are in need of updating. Showerheads are extremely low-flow. There are marks on many of the toilet seats and some of the toilets are very slow to flush. The light bulbs in the entire house are blue-white light (like flourescent lights). While communication with the management company was fine prior to our stay, they never responded to our text messages, emails, or VRBO messages we sent during our stay.

Levi, Thank you for your honest feedback. We’re glad the heated pool, beachfront location, and spacious layout worked well for your group, but we’re sorry to hear some aspects of your stay didn’t meet expectations. We apologize for the inconvenience of making the beds, the quality of the linens and towels, and the issues with plumbing and lighting. We’re also disappointed to hear about the lack of communication during your stay—that’s not the standard we strive for. We appreciate you sharing your experience and will use your input to improve. We hope to have the chance to host you again and provide a better experience! Best, The Better Beach Rentals & Sales Team
