Property is in a great location for visiting Duke, it is very spacious and well set up, Issac’s Bagels, just around the corner, is a must visit! The house is historic and very spacious. It does show its age, but it is clean, beds are comfortable and set up well for a family visit.

Great spot!

This is an INCREDIBLY spacious property that's comfortable for groups of friends in need of both good common space and more private spots to sleep in. The host was incredibly communicative and helpful! The location is also in close enough proximity to all bus stops needed to get to Duke campus, which is what we were attending for.

Smelled musty when we arrived, appears in past to have water damage in ceiling areas. All 4 of us became sick and concerned it could be mold related although no obvious sign of mold. We checked out 1 day early and went to hotel.

Mold in a home is a huge problem and accusation. We have NEVER HAD mold or musty complaints in the past. And have had several stays just before and immediately following this stay. We have always had 5 star and a few 4 star reviews up until this stay going on 4 years now. We are super host on both platforms and I feel this is a big exaggeration. Yes ,the house was built in 1930 and has signs of character and locations that show its age, even with remodeling, but we do not have mold behind about walls as insinuated. Not even proven with pics. To bad this review was done with such malice.

Great Place to Stay in Durham

This classic old house was perfect for our group of friends who came to town to see a musical show on the Duke campus. Convenient location and comfortable accommodations. Loved sitting on the big front porch chatting away. The host was very responsive to questions about the house and the area. Good to know that 3 bedrooms are upstairs, 1 down, to ensure access. If only the walls could talk this place would tell some stories!

Thanks for the review. Come back and stay anytime. I could barely tell Diane's group had even been there because they left the place so clean.

Exactly what you see is what you get

The pictures are completely accurate. 4 large bedrooms and 3 large bathrooms. 2 living rooms allow for the kids to watch TV in one space and the adults to relax and talk in the other. The front porch is terrific. The house is older. There are touches that could be updated (kitchen floor is wonky and there are ceiling tiles that need to be looked at upstairs but this is an older house. Neighbors were nice and friendly. There was coffee and fixings when we checked in as well as paper towels and toilet paper which many places lack. You could walk to the market and downtown was so close. All in all, we are glad we chose it. It was clean, charming and as the kids has plenty of room to run, we knew it was the right place. We brought our own baby gates to keep the little ones away from the stairs and this might be something to add on the host side. Thanks again for everything

Nice place near Duke for wheelchair user

We had two of our adult children and their significant others and our grandson in our party. We had found this listing because it included wheelchair accessible as a feature. We had our own ramps to get in at the back door. We used a 6’ ramp to get onto the porch and a 3’ ramp to get into the door of the kitchen. There were thresholds at each doorway on the first floor and my wife had no issues moving her power wheelchair over them. The bedrooms had plenty of room and having 3 bathrooms made getting ready easy. The location was great for convenience to the interstates and the neighborhood itself. There is a bagel shop around the corner that we used for breakfast on two mornings. Two blocks past that is the Durham Co-op Grocery which was handy for picking up some food to make dinner a couple of the nights. It is an old house, so it has character like uneven floors. However, they have done a nice job fixing up the interior and it is a nice place to stay. The listing provides a warning about the driveway being steep. The gutter dips at the entrance to the drive which makes the approach steep. You can avoid bottoming out if you take it slow and have reasonable clearance under your car.
