Heart of Montreal

A nice self service apartment in a great location, for those looking for an alternative to a sterile hotel experience. The studio was large and clean with good hot water and air conditioning. Three issues to note: It is a two flight walk up, so be aware if you have stair issues or lots of luggage. It’s reasonably quiet during the week, but there is a popular club downstairs, which you can hear the music on the weekends Not awful, but if you need absolute silence, be forewarned. Our washing machine did not work, and I don’t know if they are in a hurry to fix it. They did let my wife use one of the other washers on the premises. Otherwise a nice stay. In a great location.

Some good and bad

This is sort of a hotel and sort of a vacation rental, but doesn't do either exceptionally well. The pros: 1) Location! Really superb. We walked everywhere. And the restaurant downstairs (Venice) was fantastic. 2) Big comfy bed and ample furniture/storage in good condition. 3) Property was very clean (except as noted below) The cons: 1) No parking. Parking lots that host recommended did NOT accept overnight parking and had 12 hour max. We did finally find parking on our own but it was a stressful experience that could have been avoided if host provided accurate info or told us we needed to figure it out in advance. 2) Shower curtain was dirty/stained and bathroom fan was filthy. 3) Bathroom sink was inoperable (drain stuck closed). Host was unresponsive and failed to fix. We used the kitchen sink for brushing teeth and washing hands 4) There is NO washer or dryer in unit.

Refuse any offered “upgrade”

I have used Vrbo for years in many countries and I’ve never had a negative experience…. Until now. This listing is an organization that is shady at best. After booking the listing agent let me know there was emergency “maintenance” on the apt and he was upgrading me to a better place. He moved my partner and I to a double bed with a leaky air conditioner ( floor damage says it’s been awhile), windows you could barely see out of they were so crusted with dirt, and some water damage in the bathroom. I have to it on a claim after trying many times to get ahold of the organization. We left after twelve hours and booked another place for the next 4 nights. Stay away.

Great Location

The property is in a great section of old Montreal close to just about everything. The unit had everything we needed and the property management was quick to return our emails. The only drawback is the number of stairs you have to climb to get to the unit, especially the first set that is very steep and challenging. If we were 20 years younger, it probably would not been as difficult. But an elevator would have been nice especially for checking in with heavy luggage. It was very difficult getting up the stairs with luggage.
