Gorgeously designed home with incredible attention to details: from the art, the custom furniture, lovely bedding, super comfortable beds. The kitchen is well stocked and the view from the backyard is a wildlife stage. The landscaping is also very well maintained. Our host was super helpful and accommodating with our schedule.
Beautifully appointed house just south of Kingston. Lovely interior; backyard with lots of privacy. Very convenient to a lot of our favorite spots in the Hudson Valley. Great hosts who made us feel incredibly welcome. Top notch stay.
This is a meticulously updated home that is well appointed and has everything you will need for your stay.
The hosts were thoughtful and thorough in their planning for their visitors.
The house was superb. Two large bedrooms and bathrooms. The kitchen was spacious and very well equipped. The location was excellent, close to amazing hiking trails and several interesting areas to visit.
This place was clean and beautiful. We stayed at an airb&b and it was horrible! We decided based on the photo to try this place and we were not disappointed! Every detail was thought of! Will be coming back!
This modern designed home is as lovely as shown in the pictures, enhanced by the custom woodwork and interior trim. As others have said, the kitchen is remarkably well equipped. The welcome basket and binder with informative materials reflects the hospitality of the host. Looking forward to a return visit in the future.
We decided last minute to go hiking and are feel so lucky to have found this home. Located 15 minutes from Minnewaska State Park, the house provided easy access to great hiking. We were also 10 minutes from both New Paltz and Kingston so we were to enjoy great meals out and explore the towns, including the Saturday farmers market in Kingston. The house itself was perfect. Amy left us an amazing welcome basket of local goodies which we put to good use as the kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. We will definitely be back
Rather than stay in a crowded city hotel, we booked this house for parents’ weekend. It was a brilliant move. The house was very clean, private, quiet and peaceful. The house was 30 minutes from the school, but it was close to nature, as well as good dining and sight seeing options. It was wet most of the time we were there, but next time we come we will take advantage of the nearby hiking. Property manager was friendly and easy to deal with. We enjoyed our stay and I’m sure we will be back. Thank you!
We loved our stay in this beautiful small house. The owners really did seem to have thought of everything, from the welcome basket with fresh fruit, bread and eggs and some snacks to a very well-organized kitchen with everything we needed to make dinners and even entertain friends while we were there (including a spice rack and some baking staples, which was terrific). The back deck is peaceful and comfortable, with a table for eating outside and a clean, well-functioning gas grill (and the neighbor's visiting chicken added to the charm).
The two bedrooms were both super comfortable and everything in both bathrooms were spotless. Extra beach towels were great for trips to some local swimming holes, and there were extra amenities (razors, toothbrushes, etc) in the medicine cabinet in case we had forgotten anything. The washer-dryer in the lower floor allowed us to do a wash before we left for our next week at another rental!
The furniture was cool and comfortable, and the custom TV cabinet meant we didn't have to look at the TV when we were just relaxing but could roll it out when we wanted to have a movie night.
We loved the puzzles (and left an extra) too! Thanks for such a lovely stay!
We LOVED this property!
Two bedrooms, each with a queen sized bed. Two full bathrooms. There is a loft with one bedroom (with a door) and full bathroom, and a cute little work desk. The bathrooms were equipped with good quality soap and shampoo too (paraben free, cruelty free products).
Felt very spacious, featured art, very cool decor. Full kitchen with everything we needed, including a fridge that dispenses ice, a coffee maker and coffee. The owners even left a snack basket and some necessities in the fridge. We had dinner on the deck one evening, and enjoyed time by the fire pit.
It was a bit difficult to find the property at night in the dark, but the house number is mounted on the front of the house in pretty large numbers. Long driveway, we easily fit two cars, could probably have fit three.
20-30 min from Mohonk and Minnewaska.
This place is so cute and comfortable. Would definitely stay again!

About the host
Hosted by Amy R. Poux
Amy & Johnny moved to Rosendale in 2003 and have never looked back. Johnny, a designer, and Amy a teacher and director, have two grown children, two cats, six ducks, and a thriving greenhouse. Originally owned by our neighbor, Rocco, 1017 was purchased in 2019 and rebuilt from the ground up. With his nest egg Rocco moved to the Netherlands to be with his true love. The all-new house is designed and furnished with a farmhouse modern aesthetic, to allow for simplicity, down-shifting, and renewal.
Why they chose this property
Come visit Rosendale, NY and experience simple rural life with sophisticated flair. A mix of progressive and traditional, homemade and self made, Rosendale emerged from its industrial revolution roots as the premier site of cement. Our mines, caves, and cement ovens created the concrete for the Brooklyn Bridge, Statue of Liberty and so many more of our national treasures. This cottage is just as close to Kingston, where a new art scene has emerged with galleries, performances, antiquing, historic walks and the famous O+ Festival. From the mountains to our historic towns, visitors can have it all in Rosendale. A gem of the Hudson Valley.
What makes this property unique
Modern Cottage visitors will be welcomed with a package of organic veggies and duck eggs freshly picked from the owner's greenhouse and ducks! This area features mountains, trails, swimming as well as antiquing, shopping, eateries and cultural events. Rosendale uniquely has a series of seasonal festivals! The Rosendale Music Festival (Summer), Frozendale (Winter), the Chili Festival (Fall) and the Pickle Festival (Spring)! Close to the O+ Festival - a music and art extravaganza in nearby Kingston, with mural walks, live music, and performances during October.
