Secluded Catskill Mountains Getaway Peaceful Nature Near Woodstook
WE ARE BACK!! Had to go through the Town of Olive for inspections and approval due to approval needed for any short-term rentals in the area :) Situated at the end of a private road this beautiful property is like heaven with beautiful streams running around the house. If you feel the need to get away from it all, this place is for you. Located on the top of a hill, this rental is tucked privately away with surrounding forest preserve. You feel as though you are standing right at the top of a mountain, but in reality you are at the foot of South Mountain. Facing the front you have a beautiful view of Hanover mountain, and at the back there is 300 acres of forest preserved by "Catskill State Forest Preserve" in the NYC Ashokan Reservoir area.
There is an attached log cabin built in the early 1900's that is not part of the rental as of now as we are fixing it up. Nobody will be staying in this log cabin during your stay or anywhere on the property near you. All the pictures are of the new addition that contain 1 bedroom with king size bed and two bathrooms (one off master bedroom). The master bedroom is located upstairs, and we also provide a twin bed. The rental is designed for two people's romantic weekend, but if you have one child they can sleep in the twin bed. There is a wood stove to cozy up to in the winter, but there is also central heating throughout the house.
The beautiful Bushkill creek surrounds the area, and the stunning Peekamoose Mountain Blue Hole is a 15 minute gorgeous scenic drive where you can swim and cool off. There is also a pool in the town of Olive's Lester S. Davis Park which is 5 minutes drive, and also includes a basketball court, pavilion, Baseball Field, children’s playground and horseshoe pits. There is world class fly-fishing at Esopus Creek, and so many beautiful hiking trails nearby. The quaint town of Woodstock is a 25 minute away, Phoenicia is 15 minutes away, and High Falls and Stone Ridge is 25 minutes away. Bellayre and Hunter are two ski areas just 30 minutes up Route 28 through some of the most stunning landscapes and mountains. You are 10 minutes to groceries, a farm stand, bakery, liquor store and cafes serving breakfast & lunch. Great restaurants are just 5-20 minutes away! Emerson Spa is 15 minutes away where you can lounge in their outdoor hot tub or get some relaxing treatments! We give you the contact to a Masseuse that can come right to the house! Picturesque hiking at Overlook Mountain, and Ashokan Rail Trail (5 minutes from our house).
Only 2 hours drive to New York City!!!

The outdoor space here was amazing to have and we spent a lot of our time hanging out at the fire pit area and playing with our dog in the large yard. Inside it was beautiful, spacious and very clean which made for an enjoyable stay!
Wonderful and cozy cabin space! fully stocked kitchen and bathrooms. Lovely outdoor seating areas too. My friends and I had a great time staying here, it was perfect for a fall weekend trip. The surrounding area is beautiful too; we saw great scenic views and wildlife around every day :) . Sylvia was a very attentive and kind host.
Excellent setting to explore the Catskills. Quiet and private but yet close to towns, restaurants, etc. Pet friendly place which allowed us to bring our two dogs. Highly recommend.
Just what we needed- space secluded in nature with the comfort of a warm bed and amazingly appointed kitchen. Our 2 doggies enjoyed the long hikes in nearby trails. A morning in nearby Woodstock and an evening dining at the CIA in Hyde Park made this a great trip.

Bliss
We just got back from this sweet cabin and can't wait to book our next return trip! The cabin provides such a wonderful escape - calm, peaceful and relaxing - while providing all of the amenities you could ever need. A wonderful kitchen, comfy living room and spacious bedroom (with an outstandingly comfortable king bed). Sylvia was also a delight to work with, and her organized house is truly inspiring. We found delicious restaurants and great hikes all within a short drive, though honestly we rarely wanted to leave the grounds and spent most of weekend just hanging out.

You were also a pleasure to deal with, and we hope to have you stay again! Thank you!
A rustic cabin with large loft bedroom making it 2 stories. It's attached to an old one story log cabin. The log cabin section is locked and not part of the rental. The rental sits on 5.6 acres and is very private. There's a tall stone fireplace outside that used to be part of a house that no longer exists. We built a fire in it most evenings. There's also a fire-pit. The cabin was very warm and welcoming, the kitchen was fully equipped, the bed was super comfortable. It was a great place to return to after a day of exploring. There's a trailhead to the Ashokan Rail Trail about a 5 minute drive away. Woodstock Brewery good place to go with your dog. Woodstock village is about 20-25 minutes away. We visited just about every little town within an hours drive in any direction. And the hosts responded quickly to any questions. Highly recommend.
We loved this place. It was so nice and quiet. Loved hanging outside by the fire pit lounging in the chairs and reading a good book. We were really able to relax and unwind. Beautiful home with so much character.
Home is lovely and a great place to relax. We were provided plenty of wood and kindling to build fires in the wood stove. The surrounding area is completely dark, so it was lovely for stargazing. The kitchen is perfect for cooking meals in.
This is a beautiful property in a great location. The house isn’t completely available to renters but the upstairs bedroom is lovely and the outdoor patios are great. The inside living area we had access to felt a little dark, but it’s otherwise spacious and comfortable and we didn’t spend much time inside so it didn’t matter. I’d return just to sit on the patio and look at the mountains! (And our dog loved sleeping on the grass.) It’s also just off a nice quiet road that was great for running.
Relaxing! Our GPS said 39 minutes. We don’t even live in NYC but if I did I would be there every weekend. There was a very comfortable king size bed. It felt like being alone in a forest the green was very lush. We listened to birds in the day and crickets at night. The fire pit was a bonus! I would go back again! I was also impressed with the fact, I came back without one mosquito bite! Even while grilling and eating a steak in the dark.
We had a wonderful 4 day stay with our almost 2 year old at Sylvia’s House. It was clean, spacious, quiet and comfortable. There was a surplus of kitchen equipment, the showers were awesome (good heat and water pressure) and we were able to stay comfortably cool though it is mid July. The area is very pretty, Sylvia gave us a bunch of great suggestions. We went to Marty’s for breakfast, migliori’s farm for some produce and pie(amazing pie), and peekamoose restaurant for dinner one night (highly recommend—good food, friendly staff, beautiful outdoor seating and very kid friendly without seeming like a kids restaurant). Would definitely recommend staying here!

Perfect weekend getaway!
We cannot recommend this cabin enough! We were looking for a home to spend a weekend away from the city with our dog. We wanted it to be remote, but still close to some of the small, upstate towns so we could explore. Sylvia and Gerry's property is perfect for all of the above! It is about a 20 minute drive to Woodstock and 15 minutes to the delicious Phoenicia Diner. The house is cozy with central air/heating with a large, comfortable couch and bed. We were most impressed with the kitchen as it had more than enough pots, pans, appliances, etc for a home cooked meal (Vitamix, Le Creuset, All Clad, etc). And if our pup could add to this review, she would let you know that it was very comfy for her as well as they were kind enough to leave an oversized dog bed for her to lounge on in front of the fire! Sylvia and Gerry were extremely responsive, making booking a breeze as well as helping out with a few questions during our stay. The property itself is located right on a mountain stream with a small waterfall right outside. It was too chilly to enjoy the outdoor areas, but we could see spending an afternoon sitting around the patio. We very much look forward to future visits!

Peace, quiet and a babbling brook
We just returned from a ten day stay at this wonderful house, and our visit was utterly perfect. From the moment we walked in the door we knew we made the right choice for a rental. It was easy to find yet secluded; close enough to Boiceville for occasional groceries and gas yet far enough out that there were no sounds except nature, including the soothing sound of a small brook running over rocks just beyond the porch. Such a wonderful sound! We must have sat in silence enjoying this for hours our first night there.
This house was just the right size for two adults and our 85 lb dog, Bruce. There was nothing lacking, right down to a dog bed Bruce loved and two bowls in a feeding stand for him. Downstairs is a very comfortable living room, a gorgeous dining table that appears to have been constructed from hand-hewn timber, and a very well-equipped kitchen with more than enough counter space to enjoy cooking our meals. Which is important since bringing our dog on vacation means no dining out. Rounding out the downstairs is a full bath with full size washer and dryer. Upstairs is a bedroom and another full bathroom. We could not have been happier.
Outside was also as good as it gets. Most afternoons when we returned from hiking we enjoyed sitting on the front porch listening to the sounds of nature. Beyond the porch, in the yard, is a nice sized sitting area with plenty of seating and a raised fire pit. And very starry nights! Because the house sits back from the main road, which is itself a quiet country road, there is no light pollution or traffic to distract from the business of relaxing and enjoying the crisp mountain air. Breakfast in this area allowed us to enjoy the slowly turning autumn colors brushed lightly on the mountainside across the way.
As for activities, we love to hike and there are trailheads to very enjoyable hikes as close as 10-15 minutes down the road. Because of the proximity to the 28-28A junction, pretty much all of the great Catskills trails were easy to access. Though we probably would have preferred a little less rain (I think 3 rainy days), we were so comfortable in this house it really didn’t matter (and it meant the area’s falls were high).
I’ve been vacationing in the Catskills for more than 25 years, always renting a house for a week or two, and this may well be my favorite! All of the loving touches, including the little statues here and there on the grounds, made us feel right at home.

Great house in a beautiful location!
My husband and I stayed at Sylvia's house with our 2 month old and loved our trip! As the other reviews mentioned, the house is awesome. The inside has been nicely redone, the furniture is very comfortable and the house is well stocked to make your trip that much more pleasant. We loved the outdoor spaces here, especially the fire pit! The area is gorgeous and close to both Woodstock and Phoenicia. The house is also a short drive to lots of hiking and outdoor activities. We would recommend this rental to anyone and hope to stay here again in the future!

Peaceful retreat
Lovely comfortable home on a beautiful property, miles from main road , but close to main attractions. Perfect for small family or a couple on a romantic get away. Lots of room, fully stocked with everything we needed, rustic feeling and cozy , but modernized. The furniture was comfortable, modern bathrooms, the air conditioners kept the home at perfect temp. Bonus for us was all the baby stuff we could use and not bring from home.

Beautiful setting, cozy and welcoming accommodations, such a pleasure to stay here!
I stayed here for three nights, I did not want to leave. The stars were out at night, the fire pit kept me warm on chilly nights, the bed was comfy, the couch cozy, beautiful accommodations inside and out. Close to excellent hiking and the Peekamoose blue hole. Could not have enjoyed my stay more. Would love to visit again soon.
