About this property
Historic Bungalow Near Downtown and Transylvania University
A 2300 square foot bungalow centrally located in Lexington’s downtown area is the perfect spot for Bluegrass area visitors. It is a delightful combination of comfortable private retreat and downtown convenience in a modernized historical 1908 home.
This charming home has lots of character with 9 foot ceilings, hardwood floors and a brick fireplace in the front living room area. The front porch has a 6 foot porch swing that allows the afternoon sun to warm your back. The large windows throughout bring in much natural light to the living areas. The kitchen has modern cabinets and appliances, and a coffee station with Keurig and a drip coffee machine. Each of the 2 upstairs bedrooms have king beds with new bedding and mattresses. A historic bathroom has been modernized upstairs, and another half bath is downstairs, along with a third bedroom that has a queen bed. The laundry area downstairs has a new washer and dryer.
Built in the early 1900s, it was nearly demolished, as it originally sat directly where Elm Tree Lane runs today. However, it was instead relocated to its current location and sits on a modern foundation with a finished basement. This historic restored home combines the best of both worlds with period wooden doors, glass door knobs, heavy painted trim work and finishes, and modern day updates.
The back yard is a garden area that provides a peaceful, private fenced area for relaxing or grilling. There is plenty of parking in the driveway, and additional on the street in front. Or, just walk out the front door to the many downtown restaurants, coffee and bourbon bars, museums, and entertainment. Transylvania University is an easy walk, and UK is very nearby.
Lexington, KY is home to the famous Bourbon Trail, which is a driving tour of all the many bourbon distilleries in the area. You can visit them for the day, then come home and relax in comfort. Also, the Legacy Bicycle Trail begins right out the front door.So this location is perfect for those with an active lifestyle. Walk to restaurants, go to the park nearby, or enjoy visiting the shops of the downtown area.
We acquired the house in October of 2021, and initially planned to use it for visits with our children and grandchildren who live in Lexington. Now that we have outfitted it with lovely furniture and finishes, luxury sheets and towels, and a fully furnished kitchen, we have decided we want to share it with some guests. We hope that you will enjoy the light filled rooms and 2 king bedrooms as much as we do!
